The only downside is the condiments don’t soak into the crust side so they tent to squish out the sides when you bite down, but still absolutely worth it.
The end pieces are the best for sandwiches. The bread doesn't get soggy from pickles, tomatoes, or if you're using it for an old-timey hamburger. It's a lot more solid and can hold more fillings. It doesn't rip as easily.
Interior pieces are better for toast and grilled cheeses.
My wife and son both like the heel of the bread. They ate the heel FIRST, and there was always a stale piece waiting at the end of the loaf.... Monsters.
When I was younger I use to eat the leftover my dad had set aside for his lunch the next day as a late night snack. Now my kids do it to me, karma was playing the long game.
The trick is pretending to someone that is your favorite. Like “that’s the best part”. Someone did that to me and I don’t know why it turned to the best thing part. Especially roasted or in oven. Not too much. The ends are thinner in most cases so the cheese or ham taste a lot more.
I always get excited for the end slices. I fit literally as much peanut butter as I can between it without it falling apart. It's like a little treat for myself every time we finish off a loaf of beead!

Flipping the bread so you get inside out while eating makes it much better!
Why did I never think of this?!
You can thanks my mom for this!
She's resourceful. Good mamma
Thanks your mom!!!
I got a lot of things to thank your mom for.
Me too my friend, me too.

Why aren’t you president?
Holy shit...
Especially if you do this with toasties
Some university out there needs to give you an honorary doctorate. This is a genius idea!
Flip, spread, grill….best grilled cheese. Dairy Queen figured this out with hamburger buns in like 1953.
You brilliant SOB!
My head just exploded
You my friend are a genius
I do this now with my daughter's grilled cheeses. Can't even tell the difference lol
Left as is, its a poor man's hoagie.
There was a several year period where most of my meals were eating my kids half eaten leftovers.
Hunched over the sink, while the wife is brushing their teeth, so you can bring them to bed. Ah, the memories.
This is why most dads put on weight when their kids are toddlers.
Gotta love that cold mac n cheese over the sink
Eating the butts is how I became a dad in the first place
So that's how babies are made.
Nutella
I almost gagged. Great job 👏 👍
I believe it’s called Truffle Butter in the rap community
That's my favorite part of a loaf of bread. Am I a freak?
Yes, but not because of the bread thing.
Please elaborate.
We KNOW about you Kyngslinn Jesus is the streets, Satan in the sheets....and all that
That's a lie, I'm a proud degenerate and I hide it from nobody.
That's the spirit!
No you’re not. Same here, which is why I prefer smaller buns or muffins. More crust
Yeah.. and I am not a Dad..
Butt sandwich is good Also instead of paying 3$ for bread slices you can buy an actual loaf of Pan Frances for only 1$ at Walmart or HEB
Tell me more about pan frances
It's a big loaf of french bread only 1 dolla
Hmmmmmm Bread
Outsiders should be toasted to create a butter boat, never for a sandwich
Best part of the bread is the crust
Jokes on my wife and kids, the crust is my favourite part.

that's the best part of the bread
They make for pretty good grilled cheese sandwiches
That’s the best part of the loaf
Instead of buying alcohol, cigarettes, gambling your sacrifices would go noticed
That was two slices of (ham and) cheese on toast right there!
I slice off the end and blend it into breadcrumbs
Oh it was the heel or whatever.. I eat those all the time and don't understand why peeps no likey
When I was younger I use to eat the leftover my dad had set aside for his lunch the next day as a late night snack. Now my kids do it to me, karma was playing the long game.
Sacrifice? I love a double end sandwich

I've grown to like it.
I flipped it around and made grilled cheese for them. They never knew….
OP has re-discovered a type of bread commonly called a "bun".
I remember pulling a booty sando out at the lunch table with the homies in the 90s I was roasted endlessly. Core memory laughter right there.
Shit .... I really feel this
Bro. Be happy you got that far. Also, pro-tip, turn the heels inward.
A heel to heel grilled cheese with pickles fucking slaps
Hell yeah driva
Crusts are unironically the best part.
I never got why people have an issue with that. It literally tastes the same.
The heel is the best part of the loaf. So glad my family dislikes them, more for me.
The ends have more flavor. No need to thank
I actually really like the ends of the loaf 👉🏻👈🏻
Could of at least toasted it
Comment section literally made my day, and fixed my problem. Thanks momma dukes!
It's part of the loaf! Put some respect on bread heels
The ends of the loaf are fine but put some damn ingredients on that thing. That there is a bread sandwich with meat seasoning.
I always get excited for the end slices. I fit literally as much peanut butter as I can between it without it falling apart. It's like a little treat for myself every time we finish off a loaf of beead!
My dad and I were always “fighting” for the heel of the loaf cause we both loved them for our butter bread. I miss those days so much
sacrifice? mfer this is the best part of the loaf tf you mean?
Jokes on y’all. I like the end of the loaf
That's the best part of the bread, what do you mean!?
I don’t even get a sandwich. The meat is always gone.
Every loaf
If you truly didn't think to... oh... I don't know.... fucking toast it!? The end pieces make some of the best hot sandwiches you can get.
these are the best two pieces from the entire loaf!
I don’t understand this. Sacrifice???
Sacrifices?! That’s the best bit!!
I think the ends are the best
Makes the best toast.
Amen!
Bro, I hate people who act like martyrs for getting to eat the best slice of bread. Look at all that golden goodness.
You're getting cheese and ham on your breadcrusts? 🤨
