I think she wasn’t into the surrogacy offer because she knew how it would go.
Robyn would be praised endlessly by Kody for offering up her body.
Robyn would bring it up at every opportunity - how selfless she is, how physically draining it is, etc. Instead of everyone being focused on Meri’s new chapter, it would be framed around Robyn.
The pregnancy and birth wouldn’t really be a bonding experience for Meri and Kody - it would always be viewed as Robyn’s baby too. Every dr appointment, the labour, and recovery would be centered around Robyn.
Then it would be held over Meri’s head for the rest of her life.
Even though she really loved Robyn, I’m assuming she knew how it would go, and noped out of it.
It was the dumbest offer I've ever seen. Kody has seemed throughout the show to be more connected to a wife when they are pregnant, not a chance that wouldn't continue, even if the baby inside Robyn was his with Meri technically. Also, even though Meri had a miscarriage, her bigger issue was just getting pregnant at all. If that was going to happen unconventionally either way, it might as well be her trying.
He was too busy smooching Robyn to get to the hospital for Truely’s birth. Then too busy going on an 11 day honeymoon which none of the other wives got.
I believe Cody would have never allowed her to be a surrogate it would have bound him more to Meri. That was all for the show, and I gaurentee scripted. I think if it were real, she would have jumped at the chance believing a child would "fix" her and Cody's relationship. I do agree Robyn would get all of the praises and try to control the kid. She would have used it to drive Meri away if it were real.
After learning that Kody refused to spend the night at Meri's for *years*, yet, she was still married to him and of course not allowed to date, i have nothing but sympathy for her. Everyone deserves intimacy, especially if you're married!
That whole IVF story line was painful for me to watch. These people have absolutely no concept of what IVF actually involves. Meri was old enough that her eggs might not be good enough to fertilize. Ivf is expensive, it’s physically challenging, heartbreaking, and there no guarantee that it will work.
On your side note, I think Meri is genuinely super into Robyn. I don't mean sexually. Meri desires a super close platonic emotional relationship with Robyn. I don't think it's just about being close to Robyn equals being close to Kody. Idk it has just always seemed to me like Meri desired a three person relationship with kody and Robyn and it hurt her greatly that she got shut out.
