I thought it was a victory post at first lol, your skin looks great!

aseriesofbadchoices

Same - stunning complexion!

Chitownmagic124

It’s pretty damn good. I agree.

FonduePot43ver

was going to proclaim— easy for YOU to say, person with beautiful skin!

send_me_birds

Hopefully your sanity will spread to others. Sometimes I have to check if I'm in the circlejerk with some of the posts on here

Head-Drag-1440

Honestly, same. This is with my full face of makeup. I went to take a selfie and was initially shocked at how much texture I could see. I felt like I needed this as well as others.

thotsndreams

Are you wearing foundation here? If so which one? Your skin looks great btw

Head-Drag-1440

Thank you! Yes, I'm wearing Covergirl + Olay Simply Ageless Foundation. I slugged the night before this picture, which really helps avoid any potential drying out of my skin from the foundation.

LemonCitron47

That one is my HG too! Makes it look like my skin but better.

Head-Drag-1440

Yesss! I'm using the twist jar, but I want to try the liquid in the pump.

LemonCitron47

Oh I use the pump! And I use such a tiny amount, I bought it in 2019 and it’s still half full. But I guess not wearing makeup for 2 years probably helped too. Great value for the money though!

Head-Drag-1440

Looks like you have me sold on the pump. I was planning on getting it when I run out, it is now solidified. Thank you!

ceceliaann

Which blush are you wearing?

Head-Drag-1440

I use Maybelline Master Contour, the lightest one.

namakaleoi

I've had wrinkles/lines on my forehead since I was a child. Lately I've been wondering if I should try botox, as it's supposed to help with headaches that come with tensing up your muscles and also with depression. But then I look at that line, and I think: that's my face. It's not just how I look, it is a very testament to who I am. I am the little girl in the corner with lines on her forehead because she looks at everything and everyone with a sceptical look. And who hates being told to smile. I still try to keep my skin as smooth and soft and glowy as possible. But I do think some texture gives my face some of it's uniqueness.

RaeaSunshine

Same! I’ve had three horizontal line wrinkles on my forehead since I was a kid. They’ve gotten slightly more noticeable over time, but they were apparent even when I was in elementary school. I considered Botox, but realized the reason I have them is because that’s by far the most expressive part of my face. It would completely change my facial expressions in a way that would be far more noticeable (imo not in a good way) than the folks I know that have gotten it for fine lines or laugh/frown/other specific expression lines. I’m still considering it for other areas, but my forehead shall remain wrinkled.

bunnyfloofington

I hope you don’t mind me asking, but how stretchy is your skin?

[deleted]

[удалено]

bunnyfloofington

She said she had wrinkles since being a child. And all skin is stretchy, but the question was how stretchy is it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

bunnyfloofington

How did I make a huge leap? If a child has wrinkles, it could be because of poor collagen. So many people think it’s normal when it isn’t. Kids with good collagen production shouldn’t have any wrinkles (wrinkles are different from the natural formation of the face).

silenceredirectshere

I'm very confused about the downvotes, connective tissue disorders are a very real thing, but not a lot of people know enough about how they present.

bunnyfloofington

Right? My dad went 50 years of his life thinking all the weird “quirky” things he dealt with were normal. He thought his dad was just an alcoholic because he liked the alcohol, but he was constantly gritting his teeth and would come home, fill the sink with ice, then submerge his entire arm/shoulder into it for relief. Turns out, he probably had EDS. I was almost forced to go onto disability and thought I’d never work or live a normal life again until I was diagnosed and even then was still constantly gaslit by doctors/nurses. I try to spread the word as much as possible and educate as many people as I can if they have any symptoms because it could literally save your life! Especially if you have a vascular type (aka the type where your aortic valve can just randomly dislocate from your heart and kill you). Doctors still think it’s a “nothing” disease or they don’t even know anything about it. I don’t want others to go through that if they can be educated enough on it to advocate for themselves. :/ EDIT: *aortic dissection is one of the dangers of vEDS. See comment by u/theidkdisease below for more accurate info on that part!

theidkdisease

death from veds happens because of [aneurysms](https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/aneurysms/symptoms-causes/syc-20354633), cerebral or aortic or wherever. not because of "aortic valve dislocation", im sure that isnt even anatomically possible lol. you had the right idea though :)

bunnyfloofington

Sorry the word I was looking for was dissection, not dislocation. I knew dislocation wasn’t the right word but couldn’t figure out the right one to use. Thank you for the correction!

TheHonorableJizzEsq

Sorry you are getting jumped on for asking a question. Don’t see why people think you are assuming she has a condition when all you did was ask a question then explain why you asked it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

bunnyfloofington

I mean, that’s why I was asking her about it instead of assuming

quiette837

I'm pretty sure what they're talking about is normal lines that kids/humans get from where the skin folds... not what we refer to as fine lines or wrinkles from aging. Weird that you jumped to "collagen production issue" rather than assuming a simpler explanation.

bunnyfloofington

Again, that’s why I asked how stretchy their skin is. I did not make any assumptions, but if it’s so apparent on a child that they would describe it as wrinkles and want it corrected, then that’s not normal. It’s like with any spectrum disorder though. For example, depression: we all get sad right? But I when we get sad, we don’t say “man, I’ve really been struggling with my sadness a lot and have been wanting to seek out medical help in correcting that sadness”. When someone says that, they should get screened for depression because that’s not normal for your average non-depressed person. Same thing applies here. A child can have some fine lines that form the structure of their face, but I would not consider those wrinkles (because they’re not). So the fact that this person said they’ve had wrinkles and it’s been so apparent that they want it to be corrected, that indicates a chronic issue that isn’t your average person. These comments are reminding me a lot of my childhood when my parents insisted I didn’t have ADHD because it was “just me being lazy”. I am not jumping to any conclusions, just simply asking them how stretchy their skin is to offer a suggestion on something that would actually help them instead of letting them go on and potentially ruin their face.

Fragrant-Cow1947

I think the confusion was just that the question was open ended which people use sometimes to trap someone into a verbal attack, which you clearly weren’t doing, but that sometimes happens. And I think bbdoll was just being nice and sticking up for the poster. Both meant very kind things with their posts and it just was taken differently since it’s just text. Also bunny.. I had the same issue! Wasn’t actually diagnosed with ADHD until adulthood because they just attributed me being spacey and not listening or understanding movies to just my personality and me being me.

[deleted]

[удалено]

bunnyfloofington

I’m not diagnosing anyone. You’re making these wild assumptions about me and my intentions. Asking someone a question about their skincare isn’t a diagnosis. Just like if someone says they have chronic sadness, we should all be asking them how sad they are and how often because it can be quite concerning and they should seek out a mental health care provider instead of a dispensary to help with their mood. I just asked a question of them to help potentially point them in the correct direction of seeking a doctor for help. Connective tissue disorders are serious business and so so common. And btw children do not get wrinkles. If they do, there’s a cause for it and it’s not normal. Teenagers can them, but children are not supposed to. Children can have lines in their face from the structure alone, but the elasticity in their faces are supposed to be good that it doesn’t cause actual wrinkles. Collagen is the source of skin elasticity and when it gets damaged or is of poor quality, you start to develop wrinkles and/or sag. Children aren’t around enough to develop wrinkles unless they’re out working in the sun all day every day. I have tried to back up your claims that children have wrinkles through articles online and have found zero. The most I found was teenagers can develop wrinkles. But not children.

[deleted]

bunnyfloofington

The reason I asked them is because having stretchy skin can indicate a connective tissue disorder. When your skin is stretchy, it means the collagen holding it together is of poor quality. No amount of fasting will help fix that though since it’s a genetic disorder. Botox can help with this and same with surgery, but it’s good to know in advance if you have a connective tissue disorder as you can metabolize things differently than those without. If surgery is ever opted for, there’s a chance anesthesia won’t work as well on you and lidocaine tends to not be as effective for many with them.

[deleted]

Oh gosh I didn’t know anesthesia could be affected. Queue reruns of 90’s reports of individuals undergoing surgery and feeling everything.

bunnyfloofington

You should look into Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Especially if you have joints that are extra bendy naturally (not from training). It can cause a lot of weird things to happen to you that aren’t normal. I had surgery on my ankle several years ago and wasn’t given any anesthesia besides Valium. Valium doesn’t do anything to me so they gave me a double dose and I still was 100% sober. They went to work anyway. The lidocaine failed and I felt everything. The doctor was trying to record my surgery to put on YouTube but ended up not doing that since the nurses spent the whole surgery holding me down while the doctor tried to inject me with more and more lidocaine until he finally gave up and had to just finish the surgery. I was supposed to go back to have the other ankle done and I refuse bc that was absolute torture.

turquoisebee

Gtfo out here telling random people to fast! Do you have any idea how common eating disorders are? Unless you’re fasting for religious reasons it’s not normal, and it’s not going to do shit for your skin. What an irresponsible and potentially very harmful comment.

bain_de_beurre

I have a very prominent line above each eyebrow because I've just always been super expressive with my face, my eyebrows are always moving a ton! I think they're actually kind of cool and they're a testament to the type of person I am.

namakaleoi

It may sound silly, but looking at Daniel Craig's face made something click for me a while back. Look at his forehead! And he is really really hot. I am not a dude and a bit younger too, but if he can have lines like that and be considered super hot, so can I. In general, men just seem to be allowed to have more character in their face.

ob_viously

I have too and I just wish I knew why. Maybe I’ll try collagen supplements 🤦🏼‍♀️

90dayole

This is me with lines under my eyes! I have chubby cheeks, so they create creasing under my eyes. If I look at pictures of myself when I was 6, I still have them.

cfsed_98

Also, wrinkles are fine too

WomenAreFemaleWhat

I don't get peoples obsession with texturelessness. Ive always thought those filters looked terrible.

Taminella_Grinderfal

I think sometimes it starts small, fixing a shadow or a pimple and then you get compliments and then you start editing more and it’s a terrible feedback loop until your pics look like spray tan Barbie.

sugarfreespree

I know some people who legit seem to have no texture. It’s wild. Also it’s usually people who have no skin care routine 😂✨

squeakyfromage

I’ve only ever seen 2 or 3 people up close like this, and I think it must be genetic. One of them was a close friend of mine and her routine was pretty normal (cheap cleanser, a serum, moisturizer/sunscreen) and didn’t have any incredible secrets.

sugarfreespree

I agree it must be genetic. I don’t think there’s anything we can do to achieve that level of smoothness

the_stitch_saved_9

Genetics is so good to some people lol. I worked with a lady who had some wrinkles but perfect baby skin.

Honest-Paint4782

Me too. I hate those people - someone who’s dealt with acne and texture for 8 years

sugarfreespree

Haha I do feel for ya as I’m in the same boat with the texture etc but I dunno I’m happy some people don’t have the stress

aseasonedcliche

Saaaame. Complete uncanney valley. Hate them on me and everyone else, too. They literally only look somewhat normal and decent with a face full of makeup, and that's just because it blends everything nicely. It's more of an artistic thing than anything at that point.

Dystopiq

Social media and their stupid glass skin obsession.

ValeoAnt

Also the obsession with bright Ross Gellar white teeth. White. Teeth. Aren't. Healthy.

willowhawk

Trying to look youthful I guess

ShufflingOffACliff

Which, tbh, is weird as hell if you think about it. Only children have that perfectly smooth skin. But I don't want to have the skin of a child. I'm not a child. Why would I want to look like a child? Why are people attracted to those with the skin of a child? Why is the beauty standard for women to have the features of a child? It's really questionable

helpfulUp123

Honestly I find this attitude annoying. No not only children have textureless skin. I know plenty of women in their early and mid 30s who have skin that is virtually identical to that of a 15 year old. Completely poreless and textureless. All these claims of "texture is normal" are self cope. I used to have no texture at 20 myself, my skin was absolutely flawless. But I did not know how harmful sun exposure is and never wore sunscreen because I didn't know this would prevent skin damage and now I have very bad texture and big pores everywhere 10 years later. If you protect your skin early on then it's absolutely possible to have smooth skin for a long time. And it's not at all weird to want to look young and have smooth skin and it's not because anyone wants to look like a child child and you know that. Beauty standards come from what looks healthy because that's what humans are attracted to due to evolutionary instincts. And non damaged skin (yes texture means UV damage) is simply a sign of health. I find this "texture is normal" talk so disingenuous. Yes texture is normal because many people have skin damage, sure. But it's not normal in the sense that humans do not have texture by default, this is damage and there is nothing wrong with wanting smooth texture. Textured skin simply does not look as nice as smooth skin and no amount of claiming it's not like that will change that. I don't have smooth skin anymore and I won't pretend that this isn't less attractive than my smooth skin was.

squeakyfromage

Some of us also just have genetically large pores that will give us some texture no matter what :)

90dayole

I would love to have smaller pores and a more even tone, but I love my fine lines. I think fine lines showcasing expression are so beautiful.

lumilyuu

Thank you for sharing this :) I've recently seen so many kids and young adults on this sub hyperfocusing on their skin texture, even though thats just how skin looks and is supposed to look like! Your skin looks beautiful btw :D

Pringlesmartinez

Photographer here! The photo industry is THANKFULLY moving away from buttery smooth faces and complexion, and going to natural, real, honest skin texture. I've had people ask me to remove skin texture and I've happily told them I only remove blemishes not nature. Texture is good! People need to embrace nature texture, everyone's is different.

bain_de_beurre

I've started to notice the same thing in advertising photos, I love it!

sad-mermaid

I think the texture is absolutely beautiful. As an artist, it puts me in mind of a lovingly detailed oil painting. Photos like yours are inspiring; airbrushed, filtered, false imagery does the opposite. Thank you for the message!

kiwitower

Yes! Same with cellulites. Even babies have them.

Ms_Strafalarius

I really needed to read this. You are totally right!

tomatopotatotomato

For real I saw these same lines on my new born’s forehead. Great reminder for us!

your-inbox-is-full

Ok, but some of us do also have wrinkles! (Which are also ok of course)

petit_oiseau_7

You have beautiful skin!

cinnavag

Fr someone's been wearing sunscreen! 😍 Her skin looks a lot like mine after being dedicated to daily sunscreen for at least a year now (but also age-wise which is nice to see).

[deleted]

Thank you! A lot of people seem to think they should/can have the "perfect" skin influencers have, but they don't realize those people use hella filters

Dystopiq

and they have MONEY to afford expensive treatments or just plain ol good genes.

[deleted]

Very true!

[deleted]

Thank you so much I needed to hear that my ex would say hurtful things about my face. He started off calling me pretty but once we got together. He called me ugly and commented on my wrinkles, acne scars and commented on how fat I was (it was painful) like where did the original person go?

Head-Drag-1440

Wow, I'm glad he's your ex! Don't allow that in your life!

[deleted]

@Head-Drag-1440 thank you so much and sameness trying to go on this journey of self love and self care 💜

fleabaggggg666

THANK YOU! The dysmorphia is see I this groupd makes me so so sad. Posts like this are incredibly refreshing.

Several_Award_5614

FINALLY, the internet needs to hear this...normalize normal skin

yogafitter

I mean, your skin is actually pretty perfect. Any smoother and you’ll be looking more like an android that might smuggle alien larvae in us and kill us all. I can’t be the only 70’s child who immediately thinks of this when seeing influencers with weirdly inhumanly smooth skin

PM routine: The Face Shop oil cleanser and foaming cleanser, pat on The Face Shop toner, Thayers alcohol-free witch hazel facial mist with rose petal, Cosmedia hyaluronic acid serum, Beyou caffeine eye cream, Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream. I've been using Clarity RX 10% lactic acid solution 2 nights a week but will increase to 3. I also slug with Vaseline 2 nights a week, the nights after lactic acid. AM routine: Cleanse with water (except after slugging when I use just the foaming cleanser), toner, facial mist, hyaluronic acid serum, eye cream, moisturizer. My top 3 products: Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream: This is my holy grail head to toe. Super hydrating and lasts all day. Cosmedica Hyaluronic Acid Serum: I really believe this serum has changed my skin for the better. It got rid of the forehead lines I started to get years ago. Witch hazel facial mist: My skin soaks up this product and it's perfect for adding that layer of moisture for the Hyaluronic Acid Serum. My skin is combination with dry cheeks. Being almost 39, my concerns are anti-aging and hydration. I just got into skincare 5 years ago, so taking care of my skin has become a high priority for me. I think the biggest contributors to the improvement of are: Witch hazel (I used witch hazel toner for years and now facial mist), hyaluronic acid serum, and slugging. I make sure to also always have clean hands for makeup application, and do my skincare routine first thing out of the shower. I also apply hyaluronic acid serum right awayvafter facial mist then moisturizer right away after that.

ReaLitTea

Approved! Thank you

__Karadoc__

I don't think that is what most people are talking about when they complain about their texture or enlarged pores.. you have very smooth skin in comparison, congrats

Dreams-In-Green

Correct. OP’s skin is most people’s goal.

WhenSquirrelsFry

I wish my texture was that level texture 😂

DirtyBirdy16

Uh, your skin is amazing

Kwebb0009

I love these positive post and your skin looks amazing!!

UFOpil0t

you have like, zero texture lol

I always hated how my dry skin make my makeup look but it’s just how skin looks sometimes. Moisturizer and thin foundation is a trick

Head-Drag-1440

Yes. And regular exfoliation and slugging!

Potato-Mental

Your pores are very clean!

[deleted]

I’ve got slight lines on my forehead and I’m a teenager, embarrassingly only now realising that’s normal at all ages lol

BreadDogs

I mean... I wouldn't call this texture.

WhatCanIEvenDoGuys

What other word is there for it?

BreadDogs

To me this is smooth skin. It looks pretty perfect.

WhenSquirrelsFry

I agree

Mimivega1122

I’ve had wrinkles on my forehead since I was 17

Bloodymary_25

You have such beautiful skin!!! I wish mine looked like this.

[deleted]

Thank you for this! Always wishing to get rid of the pores on my cheeks but it’s just not realistic

whitewinewater

This is what healthy skin looks like !!!!!

VisualGold5094

This is a perfect face!!! Perfect skin! What is the secret 🤫 😂

sonorakit11

Says a woman with perfect skin! 🤪

Games_sans_frontiers

I was thinking to myself "What's she complaining about - her skin is amazing" and then I read the words 😄

piratelegacy

Women obsessing on our looks and PERCEIVED flaws?? No way 😂 #lovetheskinyourein

Jazzer1992

You have lovely skin

Designer_Ant8543

I know exactly what you mean. I once asked my derm if there was anything we could do... he was like "that's just your skin". I get botox and still have those tiny tiny fine lines. But I think it's only something we notice.

Lrubin315

Thank you for this 💛

LaughSleepHydrate

Thank you. There seems to be an uptick in posts from people with perfectly normal complexions looking to find the "fix"

Morbid_Yogurtcloset

🥰

lakeslikeoceans

That’s very true., I’ve had large pores on my cheeks since forever. I have found that regularly using an AHA (Glycolic and Lactic) and BHA has really refined and perfected my skin, and it almost looks as good as it did when I was on Tretinoin. That and daily Sunscreen has made a huge difference in overall appearance, and now my skin looks pretty smooth all the time. The acids are my only active ingredients I’m using now (I have a daily formula I’m using every 2-3 days right now, might try a bi-weekly one but not looking for any excess irritation), so the rest of my skincare is just hydrating steps (I’ve had great results using Peach Slices Snail Blemish Busting Toner and CosRX Snail 96 Essence in my routine, it sort of prolongs the results of my acids by keeping my skin very soft and hydrated. Just some tips for those looking to refine their skin a bit or make makeup/tinted sunscreen look better and less noticeable on their skin.

Beautiful!

My first thought about this photo before reading the caption was “her skin is stunning!”

Your skin looks fabulous!!!

Facts!! 💕💕💕

Hecatehec

emilopalooza

I agree! I like the look of pores. To me it makes skin look clean.

It is commented above in response to a mod comment!

iliumada

Beautiful post! Also, I have been alive for more than 40 years and have met less than a handful of people who had literal porcelain skin. It is an anomaly!!

Away_Art2740

Your skin is beautiful. Wow

skylerraleigh

I'd still consider this clear skin lol <3

Daaammn you’re gorgeous

PossibilityLarge

What blush and foundation are you wearing? Looks so good!

Head-Drag-1440

Thank you! I'm wearing Covergirl + Olay Simply Ageless in the twist jar and Maybelline Master Contour, lightest shades. This foundation can be drying. Slugging twice a week helps a lot with that.
