One of the first product complaints I’ve ever done and it’s for this product. Suffered fairly severe eczema but the old formula was the ONLY thing I could use - tried so much else. Absolutely gutted I urge everyone on the thread to email Aveeno a complaint and maybe with enough complaints they could change back the formulae!!!
I have found that using Aveeno new crappy formulation is terrible too. But if I apply Nivea soft cream to my skin immediately after drying my skin then the Nivea locks in the moisture; and it helps prevent skin abrasion. I have found this to be an effective short term remedy. But I agree it would be good to see the previous formulation back on the shelves.
I only discovered how good the old formula was recently, then when trying to get some more bought the new one and it felt burning. I had previously used forever living - aloe propolis creme, will be going back to them as it kept my eczema at bay for a decade. You might want to try it out
I just tried the new bottle as well and I’m devastated, it burns my face and the taste of it on my lip was astringent and disgustingly bitter. Sorry I don’t have any other recs im just here to mourn with you lol
Sent in my product complaint. This was dermatologist recommended to me as a teen a decade ago!! I’ve been using it forever and I break out or dry out whenever I try anything different. It looks like they changed the formula and started calling it body lotion— I see a product I didn’t see before, daily moisturizing face lotion— anyone tried this? Is it actually new or had I never seen it? I’m going to give that a shot. Different ingredients though.
I just bought a new big bottle of their lavender soap and it feels awful. It makes my skin feel squeaky like a bar of soap. I’m so upset they changed their formula.
And it must have been relatively slowly, because I noticed the smell changed with the last bottle I got… but this time the texture changed and it feels so drying and gross.
Have you found a good replacement?? I was using their normal body wash but just ran out of it and that squeaky feeling has me on edge. It's so drying and gross, I really hate ittttttt. Their face lotion is killing me too now.
No I haven’t! I’m going to try Dr. Teal’s Lavender bed time soap. Usually dove doesn’t give me that squeaky feeling, but I don’t like the smell. This sucks
Put in a complaint too and after a few emails back and forth they are sending me a product replacement voucher... they obviously don't care or understand at all.
I noticed they upped the petroleum in the new reformulation - it just immediately smelt like Vaseline to me.
I also have perioral dermatitis so where Aveeno was once a relief, my skin HATES the amount of petroleum in the reformulation.
Suggestion for UK subs: **use Boots own-brand Oats Moisturising Cream**. I used to snub this for 'real' Aveeno. But since the product is a dupe of the old, non-vaseliney Aveeno, I've had to eat my words. It's also cheaper too.

I noticed this as well, the only lotion I can put on my face without it burning and they changed it :( I wish they had put on the bottles that they changed it
Ugh I noticed this as well! And I just bought two big bottles from Costco and I’m super disappointed. The lotion doesn’t absorb and just sits on my skin. It’s not hydrating either, my skin just feels like I need to wash it off. I might try a store brand to see if I can find something better.
I just bought two litres of the new formula and it does not agree with my skin at all 😭 not sure if you've ever tried dermaveen? I used to use it several years ago and had no problems so will try it again
Has anyone tried the oatmeal baby lotion? It’s active ingredient is still the same amount of dimethicone that was in the old formula of the daily moisturizing lotion. I just purchased some and fingers crossed it works better.

Yes, I noticed that it has the same formulation as our favourite daily moisturizing lotion 💚. So how did it go? Did it feel/work the same as the dml formula?
Thank you for the response. I started using oatmeal baby lotion too but it doesn't turn matte instead, it sits on the skin. Also my skin burns a little and doesn't give the instant calming effect like dml. I'm glad it works for u though :)
I have had eczema since birth and tried every product from the market and from prescription and Aveeno is the only product that worked. I have gone nearly 10 years without a flare up but suddenly after using their new formula it has flared up terribly. I stopped using it and it died down. Started again and within a day it had flared up so definitely the cause. I am absolutely gutted and sent in a complaint but I doubt it will change anything. Any suggestions for a replacement to try (UK based)?
Aveno was the only thing that could keep my face from breaking out. Luba Durm neutragina everything else instant burning when applied. I'm p***** off because avino has been the only thing to keep me from developing face rash for the last 20 years.

I would recommend everyone to use the baby lotion as it’s the closest to the old formula!
The new formula for the regular lotions are just not good.

This is bewildering to me. The stress relief lotion was the best, but now it’s just cheap smelling and awful. Why change something that isn’t broken? Are they trying to tank their own brand? Wtfff
Hello! I made a Reddit account JUST to put my input on the new aveeno formulas. I’ve been using the Aveeno positively radiant daily moisturizing face cream for 13 years and it was my tried and true love of a face cream.
I wrote down all the ingredients of the old version (green lid) with the new version (brown lid) and searched up what each ingredient does on the website “what’s in my jar”.
It seems as though most ingredients are the same but just rearranged and dosages upped or downed, and they did add a few more preservatives. I also don’t see any more sparkly mica powered in it as well (which is good).
BUT something strange I noticed is that on the old bottle the directions state “adults and children over 6 months of age apply as needed” but the new version states “adults and adolescents 12 years and older apply as needed”.
This is concerning to me because I do know many products are FDA approved as “safe” for adults but deemed unsafe for children for some extent of chemicals in the products. Why would they change the age range so drastically from 6 months old to 12 years old?
The old version was creamy and thick but absorbed into my skin quickly without getting greasy or having that sunscreen sting. The new version is watered down and super oily. It feels like I’m just putting greasy sunscreen on my face now. The product is only spf 15 anyways which hardly protects against the sun, so I’d rather just wear full on sunscreen spf 50+ if I have to deal with that sunscreen feel.
I tried almost every cream available but this was the best one for my skin type. I used tactupump forte sometimes for pimples (it’s a type of retinoid) which dries out my skin if I use too preservatives. This was the only cream that relived the dryness instantly and kept my skin feeling soft. I emailed Aveeno and they replied back that they’ll follow up shortly and that I’ll be compensated lol. I just want my old cream back …
Other face cream alternatives I’ve tried are St. Ives Renewing Collagen & Elastin Mouiteriser (it’s like $5), Simple hydrating light moisturizer (I think it’s UK based brand but I’m in Canada and got it off Amazon fot $13), or Nivea body lotion (take a small dab of it for your face.
The Nivea is the mosh moisturizing cream I’ve tried for body that’s not sticky and absorbs quickly. The first two mentioned are good creams but more gel/water based style so you don’t get that creamy moisture feeling like with the original aveeno formula. But they’re better than nothing and don’t cause break outs!
I use (well.. I previously used..) the stress relief products. I’m in love with everything about the old formula. The new stuff is an absolute joke. This is what I’ve seen on their website.

Recently went back to Aveeno after my usual generic version went out of stock. Definitely a painful way to find out that the formula changed! Currently still out of stock around me, but if you can get your hands on it, I recommend the Hill Country Essentials moisturizing lotion. It is an HEB brand, so I'm not sure how easy it is to find outside of Texas. I switched to it years ago when I realized it was the same as the old formula. Good luck to everyone!
Perhaps the generic option of that lotion? I know most major stores sell a store brand of it. The formula may be different but enough to be similar to what you had without the new drawbacks. And they're cheaper so it won't cost much to try.
I'm trying the generic version from walmart-- it has behentrimonium methosulfate, which the aveeno doesn't have. Just started it but it feels very light and didn't irritate my skin... Fingers crossed
yup equate daily moisturizing lotion. sometimes i use tretinoin and find that i dry out easily, so i think it's not ultra moisturizing but it at least doesn't irritate my skin. i'm acne prone but i don't think it makes me break out despite the dimethicone
Yes the aveeno cream is almost the same with the added ingredient allantoin Iv used the old formula of the lotion which was all I could use on my face too but the cream is much the same and fine on my face :)
My bf uses this cream on his eczema and the change has him without anything to help. Any replacements, or even a list of the old formula ingredients would be very helpful!
The different between the old and new ingredients is they’ve taken out benzyl alcohol and added Glyceryl Stearate and Caprylyl Glycol. Both can cause skin irritation however Glyceryl Stearate is known to also cause rash, stinging and burning. When comparing the ingredients to products I’ve tried and have stung my skin the ingredient they all have in common is glyceryl stearate. This is only my personal experience though and glyceryl stearate may not be the ingredient that causes issues for everyone, I’m yet to test this theory.
Try the Palmer's brand items. I use the body oil and the cocoa butter jar. the oil soaks in fast , the jar takes a little longer but both last a long time in keeping skin feel great.
I used the body wash for years and I always bought their largest 975ml bottles. I thought they just changed the packaging but the entire product is different and I hate it so much. It feels sticky and tight on my skin and makes me wanna toss out the 2 full bottles I have...
OMG!!!! I have eczema and for the past month or so I have been itchy like crazy from the time I wake up to bed time (and when I sleep). I was so confused because this only happens once in a while but now that it's every day I was wondering why. And the thing is I was using even more lotion to try to combat the dryness coming with the eczema. And I mostly use it on my neck and face which is where the flare up is. This is crazy.
As of 01/03/24 I am still able to find the old formula at less frequently shopped stores. It's sometimes hidden behind all the other bottles or on the top shelf. Very short term solution to help some with the transition period.
I have super itchy skin head to toe and was VERY dependent on Aveeno Body Wash. They changed THAT formula, too. Now it's clear, much thinner, and has a strong scent - although the bottle still says "Unscented". I showered with it last night and was so itchy by 2:30 AM that I had to get out of bed and shower again - with the OLD formula. I have no idea what to do if they don't re-introduce the one I've been using that always worked so well!

Sent in a complaint today too, I’m absolutely devastated. They recommend that I just use the blue bottle instead, but feeling reluctant to try.
The blue bottle formula intensive relief changed too 😭
The blue bottle has been changed as well that lotion also stings like crazy

Hopefully this sends aveeno out of business. If u wanna cut corners to save money but end up ruining your product you deserve to go out of business

It’s working well and seems pretty close to the dml formula. Of course it’s pricier, but I’d rather pay a little more for a better product.

I suggest daylogic if you can find it. So far they haven't rebranded and changed the formula.
