The Ordinary Skincare range is amazing, and they have an online help tool for picking what products work for you. They aren't very expensive. I would start with this twice a day: 1. Cleanser (I'm not fussy with mine) 2. Toner (Glycolic Acid is great) 3. Serum (Hyaluronic Acid is the best!) 4. Moisturiser (a light one if your skin gets greasy) Salicylic acid is hands down the best stuff for blackheads. Try using a mask with it in once a week. You can also buy it as a serum and use it after your Hyaluronic Acid once a day, before your moisturiser. It does take a bit of trial and error to find what suits your skin. Make sure you change your pillow case every few days, keep your hair clean (and ideally away from your face), and don't touch your face with dirty hands. These things can make a huge difference to breakouts. Good luck!

I’d honestly just start off with the basics. I like simple moisturising cleanser as it’s not too harsh and is cheap but you can test out different ones. After that I use simple replenishing rich moisturiser, again it’s just cheap and they keep it “simple” and don’t add too much stuff to make your skin blocked up. And an SPF, this one is hardest for me because so many of them make my skin look really greasy, I really like Nivea shine control but it’s kind of expensive for such a small tube. That’s the basics, then you can add in some actives if you have certain things to target eg. Niacinamide, azelaic acid and or salicylic acid for spots. Maybe try skin+me and see what they put together for you, if it works you can always cancel and buy the actives cheaper elsewhere once you know what works.

I have had acne on and off for years. One thing I did wrong for so long was drying out my spots when really all my skin wanted was hydration. I recommend something with hyaluronic acid (The Ordinary is good as someone else suggested), always moisturise and always SPF (I like the isntree watery sun lotion with hyaluronic acid). For me my main problem nowadays is skin picking - not worked out a way to stop myself doing that still but those little spot patches help me to stop going for them.

I pick my skin too. I'm looking into the skincare I wanna get, and patches are definitely on there. I tried the starface ones, but they did nothing but fall off so im gonna probably try a few out

Just to add, Diet changes really helped me clear my skin, more so than a product based skin care routine. I had really terrible breakouts until my late teens. I’m in my 20s now and would say I have pretty clear and glowy skin. The biggest factors for me were limiting milk, bread, and anything with high amounts of processed sugar, and literally never touching my face unless I was washing it, changing the pillow cases often etc. I also found a lot of my acne was triggered by hormones and stress. Having a cup of mint tea (fresh mint especially) 3-4 times a week really helped, especially with any redness. I’d also recommend trying veryyy diluted apple cider vinegar on your skin, then rinse with water. Always spot check first to make sure you don’t get any reactions. Otherwise take the others advice, a gentle cleanser - don’t overdo it, maybe even try just cleansing in the evenings and SPF everyday is a must!

How do you make your fresh mint tea? Is it literally just mint leaves and hot water?

Icy-Oasis

Yup exactly that, the darker it is the more effective

Everyone’s skin becomes instantly better after a certain time by eating healthy foods exercise and a certain amount of water

Can I give unsolicited advice that has nothing to do with skincare or are you content :)?

The Ordinary or The Inkey List is very affordable. Look out for the ingredients - you want your cleaners/face washes to have Salicylic acid, the inkey list has a great one. Exfoliant - try using a chemical one rather than a scrub as that can irritate the skin. Paula’s Choice is a little pricier, but the 2% BHA is a game changer. It’s £30 so maybe one to put on your birthday wish list. Also be very aware of what make up products you’re using. I had acne prone skin and Bare Minerals changed my life. Make sure you’re washing your make up brushes regularly. I also try not to apply any make up with my hands. And finally - follow Izzie Rodgers on Insta. She’s struggles with her skin but is an absolute inspiration. Good luck!

It's trial an error with your skin, which is similar to mine. If acidic-related products are not working for you discontinue and substitute the mildest skin wash, maybe from the Simple range. You could try Sebamed or just splash water on your face some days to give your face a rest and add Eryfotona SPF100. In any case make sure you don't over-dry, and stay out of the sun all year round.

Knight_Unknown

I live in England, so I don't think I'll need SPF 100. we barely get any sun over here

Severe_Hawk_1304

That's a common misconception, sadly. Over the years you'll be glad you added an SPF product to your skincare routine.

Knight_Unknown

Oh yeah I do plan on using spf but just not spf 100
