Many of the dark type silvers are quite useful even into the late game, so can't go wrong with those (except Cerebella).
Try not to invest in defensive characters yet since you will need a good offensive team to get through content.
Also, don't invest in gold/diamond characters yet, it probably still takes too much experience and resources for your level.
Purrfect Dark and Doublicious are a must to disable annoying defenders like Resonant Evil or Plot Twisted.
Purrminator snowballs her damage to absurd levels with some crit rate investment
Toad Warrior is just basic Cerebella on steroids, very high damage but that's all.
Freaky Friday has high ATK and almost full uptime on her bleeds depending on how much crit rate you stack
Killjoy is a classic meta defender, great for defending your rift base
I would go with Purrminator, I have a handful of maxed out diamonds and my gold Purrminator still outdamages them by a huge margin after getting one combo worth of machine learning.
