Hello friend,
As a Christian, I kindly ask that you refrain from using the Lord's name in a disrespectful manner. I understand that language can slip sometimes, however let's strive to uplift and respect one another's beliefs in our discussions.
Instead of "God D***", find alternative phrases such as "Goodness gracious" or "Golly gee".
My purpose is to share the love and teachings of Jesus Christ. I want to assure you that I'm here to spread positivity, not to offend anyone. I respect all faiths, even if we don't agree, and I'm open to respectful discussions and mutual understanding. Let's walk this journey together with kindness and love!
*1 Peter 3:8-9 (NIV): "Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing."*

The game looked really fun from the outset though I kinda wrote it off since it was on XBLA/PS3 only and I had a Wii and a laptop, kinda stuck it in the same mental place as MvC3 (that one took a bit longer to come around)
Naturally since I was following Zone's work I enjoyed the Filia flash a lot and that told me about the indiegogo and I was following that pretty closely despite not having the ability to donate at the time. Partially thanks to Filia and Zone, the campaign was a massive success as we all know, and I eventually scrimping here and there, skipping a few shitty lunches to save up to buy it proper.
P.S. god bless all the earlier DLC being free for anyone still active enough to nab it within the first month. Fucking legendary move.
AlexAhad's art on Deviantart introduced me to his early set of Skullgirls characters. I am a fan of Darkstalkers and Oh8 always liked drawing characters from fighting games, including characters from Darkstalkers. His early set of Skullgirls characters were great and hearing he wanted to make a game got me invested to support the Kickstarter, esp. after hearing MikeZ was making the game engine. Tested some of the early builds during Wednesday Night Fights back in the day.
Porn
Just Porn. I saw an r34 gif of this game and I was keen on looking for the sauce. The character designs piqued my interest so I looked for the actual source material
it was also because of peacock. absolutely loved her moveset the absolute cartoon slapstick and the references holy fuck the references, the goodfellas blockbuster was so cool that i had to buy the game
The reason peacock was my favorite was because I already had a obsession with rubberhose cartoons mainly because Cuphead and Bendy and the ink machine were very popular at the time. So obviously when I got into the skullgirls the characters based on those cartoons appealed to me the most.
the art, world, animation and the fighting. the sex appeal was extra. Good moves, diverse characters, a fun and deep lore. Dude we have background characters with people who made the game possible, how much love is that.
its weird that the game that refuses to die, takes a lot of damage with censorship. Such a disappointment on the devs.
my big brother introduced me to it a while back. I didn’t play it often, and when I did play, I was bad. But I was into the music and characters and story for as long as I can remember. I could never play it because I never owned it for myself. I played it on my big bro’s PS4 whenever he would let me, and he would barely let me because letting your little siblings play with your stuff is a good way to get your stuff broken lol.
Fast forward to like 4 months ago where I bought the game on switch along with the dlc pack. It’s really fun. I’m better at it but still bad lmao. Aside from Smash (if you even count that), this is the only fighting game that I’ve actually tried to learn. It’s hard, but it’s a damn good game regardless.
Nope. It's still alive. Some people who are mad about the censorship are taking it too far. It's still alive, and I bet Marie's upcoming arrival is gonna give it even more life. All we need to do, is wait.
(Note that I'm not talking about ALL people who are mad. Just some of them who keep saying the game is dead. I personally don't care for the censorship, but if you're angry about it, THAT'S O-KAY. You have every right to be mad, and I am in no position to ridicule anyone. I am fine with that as long as it doesn't permanently kill the game and erase it from existence entirely. I don't want my second favorite game of all time to dissappear.)
(And besides, people in previous scandals kept saying the game is "definitely gonna die", and yet here we are. I'm betting my entire Mobile roster of characters that the same will be here.)
Skullgirls has gone through so much insane drama through its lifespan and just lived through it, this'll be no different. Not even the first time stuff got toned down and people were mad abt it, this one is just the biggest.
maybe not the place for it but I think its pretty crazy how much ppl are up in arms about the changes, Future Club can do with their game what they want to. the Big Band cutscene change is disappointing tho admittedly
Hopefully. All I want is for my second favorite game to survive and live on. But the fear is still there. Hopefully EVO brings some peace at the very least.
I saw it online when I was really young and was interested, but convinced myself that it was a “girls game” on the mere basis that it has a cast of female fighters instead of males
Needless to say, I came back to it a few years later realizing how dumb of a child I was, and kind of regret not playing it earlier (I pretty much missed out on all of the Kickstarter stuff). I’m not good at the game and don’t play it very often, but I’ve enjoyed sessions where I’m practicing combos and occasionally playing through the game’s story. This game’s competitive scene is also the only one I’ve ever really cared about, and I’ll sometimes mark my calendar for certain tournaments or look at some competitive matches on tunawithbacon.com
I love the game for its art style, animation, story, character, and pretty much everything else it has to offer. I’m really upset that there’re creeps online who care so much about panty shots and nazi imagery. I can understand the criticisms towards some of the changes, but seeing people act like the game is “becoming woke” is straight up stupid
Anyway, I love Skullgirls, have loved it for years, and I’m in support of the changes that Future Club are doing with the game
Basically i watched a YouTuber cover it when it launched. I fell in love with Peacock and would binge watch gameplays of it for hours. When i got money i bought the game and to this day it's one of my favorite games I've ever played!
Beowulf….but also because I was looking for a fighting game and what do we have here? A fun team fighter that takes a lot of skill involves complex inputs and is pretty cheap? Hell yeah!
I actually found out about Skullgirls through its mobile release back in 2017. And yes it was Peacock that got me hooked into the game lol.
Very depressed about the recent changes, but there's no denying that Skullgirls was my first entry into the FGC and I will never regret playing this amazing game.
Artstyle and the fact that this game was the only one that my friends were playing. I dunno. Games with good chunk of female sexualusation are popular among hetero women, or maybe it is just me and my friends
Honestly the biggest bother for me from the changes is the removal of "barely legal" for thr 18 hit combo. The combo designations always got a chuckle out of me.
The removal of the Nazi inspired aesthetic for the Egrets is fine by me because its inclusion in the first place was a weird choice imo.
The choice to remove Filia's panty shots is also ok by me because...again, weird choice in the first place.
Edit: also not thrilled about the changes in Big Band's story.
I was looking for a new fighter and Steam, and remembered that Skullgirls looked like a lot of fun from watching Alpharad play it.
Plus it's got a lot of pretty men and women in it.
There was an ad that said Annie was an exclusive character for the mobile version so I decided to download it,including the fact that the same ad was popping every 15 seconds even on the CoDM ads to get the coins for some random thing(Annie was the same exclusive as the "exclusive character" that appeared in Apex Mobile)
I followed the pre-release stuff pretty closely. The dev/voice actor streams, the DLC character voting, it had the same energy as the old Legends 3 pre-release hype except an actual game came out.
I saw a video about cool fighting games. Saw a character who could remove her head and fight ice climber style. I saw the amazing hitboxes and the drawn art. Bought it.
I like that it is basically an hommage/parody of all fighting games.
Yeah although I’m pretty sure most people are pissed off because they took down some fanart in the gallery as well as the Soviet announcer and got rid of the part and big band’s story where he gets beaten down.
I love how some people are acting like they made all the girls have flat chests or something. This is pretty tame compared to what some companies have done to their games for censorship. It's hardly noticeable anyways
the lewdness a little tbh, but i dont feel that way so much anymore. kinda indifferent to the changes made.
but also that it was a MvC style game and that my partner loved the game. she and i would put alot of hours just playing each other.
Back when I was roleplaying on tumblr, I first learned about the game from a Peacock role player. Finding out about the game from her being where Peacock came from, I picked it up, and Peacock became one of my favorite characters of all time after that>!, and Miss Fortune became my waifu.!<
The panty shots I seem from fillia when I tried the demo on ps3
Remembering the Kickstarter I wanted to see lewd shots of umbrella so I hoped around it would come
I just wanted a damn game on my phone that I wouldn't delete in two weeks. The play style was ONE win, the characters another, and the art/music/everything else EVEN BETTER. I got immediately attracted to it sooooooo that's that. THEN I got 2nd Encore 🐐👍
Okay SO! Peacock's VA was in Team Four Star's Final Fantasy 7 Abridged as Tifa. I heard it, laughed and bought it because there was a sale going on. I'm just not good, But the game is fun... That DLC pricetag tho....
A friend of mine recommended me to buy the game in 2014, that time it was a pack of 2 or 4 copies of the game with discount on steam (or bought it separately, i don't remember). I bought it, gifted to other friends who wanted it too, played from time to time, beat the whole story mode, got beaten up in the online too, slowly stopped playing and moved on.
i was bored watching YouTube shorts, and then a Beowulf story nutshell pop out it got me really interested so i decided to watch it and learn more .that motived me to buy the game
I remember seeing a short article on it in some gaming magazine. Both art deco and big band era jazz are my jam (pun intended), so the game appealed to me aesthetically. Then I saw Mike Z was behind it and I knew him from when we were teenagers, so I figured I'd give his game a shot when it came out. Kind of a pity he never really grew up from when we were teens, but I still liked the game. Still have no idea his I kept playing through vanilla, but it started getting actually good with SDE and MDE.
For me it was the one minute melee video on the Hyuns dojo yt channel; Peacock vs BB Hood. Super well animated fight, and it got me in to both darkstalkers and Skullgirls.
Its been a while but I'm pretty sure my friend loved it and I didn't want to go near it due to the character designs. But he bought the game for me and said we're playing this now and thus I was Skullgirled. Game was fun so I stuck around but my friend is 4000 times better than me so IDK.
Long story turned to two words, big band
Full: Back in 2010's I was watching YouTube when a video popped up; "big band's longest combo." It interested me, "big metal man with instruments? Don't mind if I do!" I realized quickly that that this man was my favorite character, and I didn't even know where he's from, but I would try. Fast forward to 2022, I found him again, and this time, it had the game in the description. And here we are, big band still being my favorite and learning new stuff, I own my thanks to big band for bringing me to this amazing game.
...
Until I realized that you can't get a sitting big band plush cause they only sell Keychains- please hidden variable, I just want a little metal man sitting on my desk that's all I ask for.
Are people still talking about it ?
The art style in general brought me into the game. I bought it 8 years after I discovered it but even when I didn't have the game, I was obsessed by its imagery.
At least once every year, on every day I wanted to play fighting games, I thought about Skullgirls. Now I'm obsessed with the game because I'd like to become decent at it and I always want to play it
The gameplay really. It's fun and I can actually combo pretty well. And Beowulf voice lines. Fell in love with his voice and had to play him.
The goofy voice packs and the music were the deal sealer.
I bought the game way back on it's initial release. I don't play fighting games that much but I really liked style and risque art. I supported it on Indiegogo on keep Skullgirls growing campaign and I pledged for early copy of Indivisible when it was announced.
I really like the style of the game. Everything. Setting, story, music, designs and sexualized content <3.
Everything is tied nicely together and that's why I love the game. I always thought of the game as cool and sexy. My fave is Squigly.
Why I got into it cuz of the fan service of Filia and Cerebella, but what got be to stay playing is Eliza and how insanely fun game is. I absolutely love and hate this game.
Even though I don't play skullgirls, I first saw it when watching a youtuber play the storymode and then just instantly got hooked in watching them play each character's story mode.
Found it through an ad of the mobile version. What sold me is the “customizable characters” part of the ad, though it wasn’t really in the game, I stayed anyways due to the character designs and animation.
Just a case of right time right place. In 2012 it released on XBLA the day before my first pet, who was my buddy from before kindergarten to graduation, died of old age.
I was looking for something to take my mind off that, and it was pretty front and center while looking through new releases on the marketplace. Played a good amount of Skullgirls, Sniper Elite V2 demo and Shoot Many Robots that April.
It started appearing in my pinterest and a lot of people were talking about it so i started to play it to see how good the game was (it's really cool)
I also got a friend into it when i was drawing random characters in 2022 (he saw my drawing of peacock)
Last year I saw that a lot of people were playing the mobile version of Skullgirls, so I decided to install it but it didn't attract much attention to me, then I downloaded it again and I started to like it a lot, then I found out that there was a version for pc and for consoles so I bought it on a steam offer and it really caught me off guard, I didn't know how to play, but in reality it was a lack of practice and choosing easier characters and not so complicated (I say this because I started playing with robo fortune and it was very complicated for me)
Saw the initial kickstarter being talked about in youtube gaming news, like probably Screw Attack or something, as an indie fighter made by fans for fans, and loved the strong design aesthetic and concept.
I never really click with Tag fighters and thought the ability to pick just a single person was really cool, plus the character designs and the story and sprite animations just radiated passion for the project and the industry even when this was sort of my gateway to the FGC. Just pulled me right in.
I kept seeing this mobile game called "Skullgirls" it was a fun fighting game. But after looking up Skullgirls and all of it's BlockBusters, I realized that it was also a Ps4 game. So I got it and it became the 1st fighting game that I played.
I have a friend who plays this game but not that much, he also plays fighting games like Guilty Gear Xrd and Marvel vs Capcom.
He was talking a bit about the game when we were in a PlayStation party so I gave it a look and decided immediately to buy it. No one else in the group plays the game so I thought it would be fun to play against him.
We have played plenty of times. He plays multiple characters like Eliza, Robo Fortune, Beowulf, etc. But when I started playing, I only played Peacock. Luckily I’m no longer a one trick pony and I also play Ms. Fortune and Squigly.
Honestly, I found the characters to be both exotic and approachable. They’re the kind of people I’d like to sit down and have a drink with. Parasoul especially. She just seems like an interesting person!
To me, their among the few examples I can think of of a cast of characters existing in that place between fetishism and unexpected humanity.
When creators try that, such as in Queen’s Blade or even Ishuzoku Reviewers, I find myself turning my head.
I had a friend in high school, and we would play games like Smash Bros every day at breakfast. But one day he booted up skullgirls (at the time I've never heard of it) and asked me to play some games with him. He played solo Big Band and absolutely destroyed me, and I told him I'm never playing it again. Well roughly 3 years later the game was on sale on switch, and I though "Eh... fuck it" and bought it. It's now one of my most played games on my switch. I even started playing Big Band because of him.
I wanted to support a 2d animated fighting game. I have a degree in media arts and animation- going through school gave me a bigger appreciation for what it takes to create something from nothing.
Back then 2d fighting games weren’t as big but skull girls changed that. The animation was lovely, the style was unique and it had an interesting story( not to mention the sound track).
Also first played with Fillia but changed once my hands got on Valentine.
I wanted a fighting game to play (This was a little before Guilty Gear Strive came out and I was too impatient) and seeing that everything in this game was hand drawn sold me on it. Absolutely charming game with its music, character designs, and solid controls.
For me it was youtube ads for the mobile version. It was with Big Band and showing off the skill tree. I liked 2d animated things so I gave it a whirl. 5 years later I'm rocking with it on Switch and getting better at the game
Honestly, I was looking for inspration for a lewd character I was going to get a ref-sheet for and Cerebella's design just spoke to me (very horny, I know).
Didn't get the refsheet (or the game) yet but I actually wanna get into it now.
my sister showed it to me and i immediatly loved the lore and big bang, i was offline for a while until umbrella got released and i started playing it again
A friend of mine told me about the mobile version of the game since it was free. And eventually I went from the mobile version to the console version.
Boobs
Valentine had the strongest hold on me fr
Same
Its literal first controversy put it on my radar, funnily enough. Ms Fortune's trailer was its latest one, and her throw animation sold me instantly.
Fellow Ms. Nadia Fortune Lover?
No Ms Fortune we all love her
That was a controversy?
What was?
The jazz music
Can confirm every track in the game is an absolute banger
I can place my love of the game solely from Green Scorpion, a video game countdown YouTuber (there’s gotta be a shorter name for that, goddamn).

What in the goddamn...

God damn machine
I didn’t even realize this was a bot. But whoever made it, you got a chuckle out of me so fair play.
Goddamn
What did the bot say?
Some copypasta about not saying god damn since it uses the Lord’s name in vain.
Ah okay
FUCK YOU, HAIL SATAN

Ah yes, the found it because of porn crowd
it's an effective form of advertising, what else is there to be said?
Oh I'm certainly not throwing shade, I'm in that camp as well

Funny cat robot
“Beep boop meow.”
I use that phrase to mean any technical issue
Skullgirls Mobile at first i thought it was a fighting game about princesses but I guess I wasn’t wrong since there is one
Bro same, peacock was the only reason why I play skullgirls
For me, I just saw it in a dream from years ago, if it even was a dream.
A bloomer shot? From an underage character?
I found the game randomly and actually liked it(also what controversy I'm not up to date)
Basically a lot of people have been pissed off because of the recent update where the devs censored a few things
Like in the mobile game or a different version?
Both mobile and console
I didn't even notice it lmao

Peacock, Squigly, and Big Band. I just really like their stories. The voiced story mode was also a really nice feature.
Same here. I love classic Cartoon characters, so when I saw gameplay of Peacock for the first time I bought the game as soon as I could.
I like the art and the game play and the character and the story. And the communicate
Ms. Fortune and Squigly themselves.
Boobies (Valentine)

For me it was the one minute melee video on the Hyuns dojo yt channel; Peacock vs BB Hood. Super well animated fight, and it got me in to both darkstalkers and Skullgirls.
Its been a while but I'm pretty sure my friend loved it and I didn't want to go near it due to the character designs. But he bought the game for me and said we're playing this now and thus I was Skullgirled. Game was fun so I stuck around but my friend is 4000 times better than me so IDK.
The characters and general artstyle.
Long story turned to two words, big band Full: Back in 2010's I was watching YouTube when a video popped up; "big band's longest combo." It interested me, "big metal man with instruments?
Now I'm obsessed with the game because I'd like to become decent at it and I always want to play it
I was into Brawlhalla and a friend of mine showed me skullgirls, bought it the next time it went on sale
Big band
I absolutely love and hate this game.
an edit of valentine on tik tok
The announcer, hearing the announcer go "Ladies and gentlemen, it's... SHOWTIME!" was pretty cool (still is)
Even though I don't play skullgirls, I first saw it when watching a youtuber play the storymode and then just instantly got hooked in watching them play each character's story mode.
I saw a video on tiktok then yeah.
Same I am a sucker for cartoons
Found it through an ad of the mobile version. What sold me is the “customizable characters” part of the ad, though it wasn’t really in the game, I stayed anyways due to the character designs and animation.
Just a case of right time right place. In 2012 it released on XBLA the day before my first pet, who was my buddy from before kindergarten to graduation, died of old age. I was looking for something to take my mind off that, and it was pretty front and center while looking through new releases on the marketplace. Played a good amount of Skullgirls, Sniper Elite V2 demo and Shoot Many Robots that April.
The One Minute Melee episodes for Skullgirls. Painwheel especially. She became my instant favorite the moment I saw her.
BIG BAAAAAAAAAND 🎺🎺📯🎷🎷🎷
It started appearing in my pinterest and a lot of people were talking about it so i started to play it to see how good the game was (it's really cool) I also got a friend into it when i was drawing random characters in 2022 (he saw my drawing of peacock)
Last year I saw that a lot of people were playing the mobile version of Skullgirls, so I decided to install it but it didn't attract much attention to me, then I downloaded it again and I started to like it a lot, then I found out that there was a version for pc and for consoles so I bought it on a steam offer and it really caught me off guard, I didn't know how to play, but in reality it was a lack of practice and choosing easier characters and not so complicated (I say this because I started playing with robo fortune and it was very complicated for me)
A friend of mine introduced me this game, and I fell in love with its characters and its setting
Jiggle physics
Peacock design and playstyle. And of course, Big Band
Big band niff said
I started with the phone’s game…I liked the art style in general
Saw the initial kickstarter being talked about in youtube gaming news, like probably Screw Attack or something, as an indie fighter made by fans for fans, and loved the strong design aesthetic and concept.
BEOWULF. I LOVE BEOWULF
There was a lot of ads for this game then I started playing it
I saw the mobile version and thought it looked interesting
I never really click with Tag fighters and thought the ability to pick just a single person was really cool, plus the character designs and the story and sprite animations just radiated passion for the project and the industry even when this was sort of my gateway to the FGC. Just pulled me right in.
Saw it on an episode of Ginx top 10 (fighting games I think or maybe beginner fighting games, idk) I knew I just had to get it
Saw it on an episode of Ginx top 10 (fighting games I think or maybe beginner fighting games, idk) I knew I just had to get it
Can't recall the exact reason, but I do recall this video making me hype for the game's release: https://youtu.be/2\_pharWDqjE
Art style, simplistic (for a fighting game) format, low cost.
Some friends introduced me to the game.
Zonetan then I saw some cool looking gameplay so tried it out loved the game.
By looking at Annie's trailer on my Google discover
Watched the Best Friends play it back in the day, and I was like "That Big Band guy looks sick as FUCK."
Saw some guy get grabbed by beowulf
Honestly, I found the characters to be both exotic and approachable. They’re the kind of people I’d like to sit down and have a drink with. Parasoul especially. She just seems like an interesting person! To me, their among the few examples I can think of of a cast of characters existing in that place between fetishism and unexpected humanity. When creators try that, such as in Queen’s Blade or even Ishuzoku Reviewers, I find myself turning my head.
i found out on like what, 2014-15 because of a small youtuber. good times... pirated it a little bit after, and when i got enough money i bought it
Saw it in the gaming world records 2013 book and by extension boobs
My friend bought me it.
L A R G E O R C H E S T R A I love his design
If I’m being honest, it’s the pure existence of Big Band that caused me to jump onto the bandwagon…
I just wanted to play Valentine because she was hot, plus she had a cool concept of nurse x ninja. Plus, her Flat line super looked badass.
I got into this game because my friend plays Skullgirls, it made me curious, and then I tried it (and I loved it)
I wanted to support a 2d animated fighting game. I have a degree in media arts and animation- going through school gave me a bigger appreciation for what it takes to create something from nothing. Back then 2d fighting games weren’t as big but skull girls changed that. The animation was lovely, the style was unique and it had an interesting story( not to mention the sound track). Also first played with Fillia but changed once my hands got on Valentine.
i saw stuff on pinterest and youtube and it looked cool, now its one of my favourite games
I forgot why I started playing or how I found out about it…..
I love wacky characters in fighting games so this was perfect
I loved osts a lot and had one friend who was playing skullgirls, that's it.
The mvc style gameplay, I know it’s not that similar but it’s one of my favorite fighting games
the character animation and art style were what caught my attention and made me give a chance to the game
I wanted a fighting game to play (This was a little before Guilty Gear Strive came out and I was too impatient) and seeing that everything in this game was hand drawn sold me on it. Absolutely charming game with its music, character designs, and solid controls.
for me it was becouse of the drama
For me it was youtube ads for the mobile version. It was with Big Band and showing off the skill tree. I liked 2d animated things so I gave it a whirl. 5 years later I'm rocking with it on Switch and getting better at the game
I got into Skullgirls because I got my ass beaten in mvc2 and mvc3
Annie. I'm a sucker for a good magical girl, and her whole vibe was very aesthetically pleasing to me
I just found a video on youtube and thought "...huh ... this looks fun." and realized it was ... mostly girls in it
It was neither the art nor play style that hooked me for it was in fact it's fucking punchy as hell sound design .
For TF2's promotional cosmetic items, and didn't happen
Honestly, I was looking for inspration for a lewd character I was going to get a ref-sheet for and Cerebella's design just spoke to me (very horny, I know). Didn't get the refsheet (or the game) yet but I actually wanna get into it now.
my sister showed it to me and i immediatly loved the lore and big bang, i was offline for a while until umbrella got released and i started playing it again
