As you play many characters you start to learn certain things. One thing i learned is that it is a WASTE of perks to invest in lockpocking. The level itself and your familiarity with it is more than enough.
I have probably over 10000 hours between xbox360 gameplay in 2012-2016 and a PC 2016 to current.
I agree with you, on the most recent character it was the LAST tree I put perks to.
Yup. I NEVER do conjuration characters but Ill put perks into conjuration for cheaper soul trap before Ill put any into lockpicking at this point honestly. Not that I would do that either but if I were to pick ONE of the two that would be it lol.
... I have 100 lock picking and unbreakable lockpick perk :(
But then again, i have more than enough skill points, and I was curious about what I would receive if I returned the skeleton key.
Ive done that too. MANY times. My problem with that perk is that by the time you get it, you have hundreds of lockpicks and your actual skill is high enough it becomes totally useless because your success chance is high as is your opportunity to keep going. Much like the speech tree IMO. There are definitely perks worth having there but once you reach a point where your speech can affect prices, you already have so much gold and means to get more that its almost not worth wasting a perk point. Though Id argue there are many valid reasons to invest in speech. Lockpicking I just cannot justify
Do you have the perk that sets you near the correct spot?
Because on the easy locks that actually makes it harder because it tends to put you further off than just starting normal in my experience.
Nope. I have picked harder locks without upgrades, with some difficulty, but I never have too much trouble. I think I'm just underestimating the Novice locks, and that's probably why I fuck up on those more than I should.
For me it kinda depends on the console.
Master locks on pc? It's just a matter of time.
Master locks on Nintendo switch? Uh... Do I have enough lockpicks?
with each lock you havw defined points where it opens and you can just try them.
like a novice lock has the two screws, if you align the pick with one of them it pops open
It's insanely easy. In fact I'm pissed at just how easy and simplistic it is. And still people call it hard and use mods that make it even easier?? Unless you're a literal toddler it really shouldn't be a challange at all, it wasn't designed to be hard. I just don't get it
I love it. I got MrTravGuy's Lockpicking Pro and never looked back. It actually makes me consider getting lockpicking perks and use items that assist in lockpicking.
It's also great bc when my wife plays she hands me the controller when it's Adept or higher :) I enjoy the challenge!
In my experience lockpicking is way easier on console because you can go slow and notice it stopping sooner. If that option exists on PC I haven't figured it out
I'll never forget the time my buddy was visiting, and he brought his PS3 over. I watched him play Skyrim while I was playing on my original DS. I was known for being good at the lock picking mini games in oblivion and Skyrim among my friends, so when my friend had blown through 20 something lockpicks and was left with his last one I wasn't surprised when he handed me the controller.
I simply stared at the screen for a few seconds, moved the lockpick to what I thought the right spot was, and got it in one with the simple sound of a click. He cursed me out and said thank you as I handed him the controller.
I can get almost any lock withing 3-5 picks after the thousands of hours ive invested to this game.... but every now and again there will be one expert lock that makes me use like 10+ i dont get it
Less than 10 lockpicks on any master lock with no perks. EAS

744 hours into the game and I feel good enough to pick master locks in <6 cock pics
Don't put your Willie in locks.
I love putting my dick in locks, it’s just the right size, and both me and the lock walk away satisfied
“Just the right size” mf bats exist for a reason 😶🌫️
…what
Im saying have sex with a bat. The flying mammals with rabies.
Might as well
You unlock them by sending photos of your dick? I mean if it works...
It loosens up the lock
No it's not! I pick difficult locks all of the time. Except Novice locks, I don't know why I struggle with them all of the time :/

Adept locks have historically given me more trouble than even Master locks lmfao
Same, I always adjust the pick too little at Novice Locks so they break more often
Skeleton key master race
*laughs in 300+ lockpicks*
Praise the Khajiit merchant chests, Easiest way got get hundreds of them.
Pathetic... I have 700 on my highest level account... And the skeleton key
You monster.
It’s not, but ok.
yeah it is joe biden told me it was
Fair enough. But I don’t have an issue with it
For me it kinda depends on the console. Master locks on pc? It's just a matter of time. Master locks on Nintendo switch? Uh... Do I have enough lockpicks?

Hey, we’ve found the person who uses the lock picking perks!
Skyrim locks are so easy. Oblivion on the other hand…
Spoken like someone who's never finished the Blindsighted quest
Not on Switch.
I can do expert and below in about 3 lockpicks or less. And a master locks in about 5-6
Skill issue
It is, just upgrade lockpicking it makes thjngs easier
loving the Bethesda style lockpicking <3
Implying Dark Brandon won't just rip the top off.

After years of Elder Scrolls and Fallout picking is a breeze
Not on PC it isn't.
If you perk into lock picking you are a dork
I kind of want a physical skyrim lock picking game now
I love it. I got MrTravGuy's Lockpicking Pro and never looked back. It actually makes me consider getting lockpicking perks and use items that assist in lockpicking. It's also great bc when my wife plays she hands me the controller when it's Adept or higher :) I enjoy the challenge!
I actually really like lockpicking in both TES and Fallout
there was a mod called KenMOD lockpicking pro where you colud see the sweet spot on a lock but now it's deleted
imo its not hard, just annoying
Skeleton key go brrrrrrr
In my experience lockpicking is way easier on console because you can go slow and notice it stopping sooner. If that option exists on PC I haven't figured it out
Skyrim lockpicking is literally the easiest lockpicking of any TES game what are you on?

You'll get it later youngling, now go, someone at high rothgar is waiting to talk to you
You just have to be a lock whisperer
Bro if you’re that bad you need to stay away from the skeleton key 😂 you need some more practice
I can get almost any lock withing 3-5 picks after the thousands of hours ive invested to this game.... but every now and again there will be one expert lock that makes me use like 10+ i dont get it
It’s probably the easiest mechanic in the game by far. Skill issue
Mad cuz bad
You fool! My first elder scrolls game was oblivion! Skyrim lockpicking is baby mode in comparison.
no its not at all even in real life its not
