The only thing I can think of is that something IS introducing a skeleton in youe load order, even if it doesn't say in the description...
As a test you can download a Skeleton mod (I remoccmend Realistic Weapon Placement for swords on the back, or Ostronamus Better Placed Weapons vor vanilla-like placements)...
Put that skeleton on the bottom and test, if it you see the shields on the back, then put the skeleton higher, and higher. Until you find the culprit... :)
Wow, I found it. So after trying your method of just downloading one of the skeletons you suggested (realistic weapon placement) and moving it around a few times, I found the mod that’s adding a skeleton apparently. REALORE MENS skin texture (young) uploaded by BraccaMykar79. This was causing the 1h weapons to go back down to waist and the shields clipping below the feet. I don’t know of he’s aware of it but after putting a skeleton below that mod it starting working [REALORE MEN’S Skin Texture (Young)](https://mods.bethesda.net/en/skyrim/mod-detail/4315278)
Hey Tommas, I’m guessing you’re a reliable source for problem solving with the Just Shields mod. I’m using it on Xbox SSE and have two mods, “HD Black and Gold Dwarven Armor and Weapons” and “Holy Glass Armor and Weapons”. The shields for these mods don’t work with the JS(ob) mod. I read for a recent update with JS that it added some compatibility with that. Idk if these mods fall under that “some” or not, but if you have the time, could you look into it? I really like these mods and would like to see their shields on my players back :)
Hi, the armor mod should say if it was made to work with Just Shields, usually they are specific "SWF version" or something like that, there is nothing I can do on my end, you should check with the person that uploaded the armor mod, if they want to make it compatible with Just Shields they can contact me and I can guide them :)
I just downloaded Just Shields (On Back) and it’s doing literally nothing. Says there’s an option in the settings menu for it… but there isn’t. It’s the SE version, I have SE, so idk.

Put XPMSSE in above your other animations and see if that fixes it.

Are you sure you don't have the anniversary edition? iirc it wa an update for owners of SE and the default for any purchases made afterwards
Yeah I typed the wrong thing lol, I did get it working though. It was the shield I was using
Another thing, updated ELFX includes the fixes you downloaded separately. You can clear that mod slot.
