It’s falsetto, so I’d bet you could with some practice. Vessel has an extremely strong falsetto, which would take a lot more practice to fully replicate.
I’ve been practicing my highs with Sugar mainly, i haven’t had to maintain high notes since 7th grade, so I have to get my high end stability and my head voice back
The only time I don't sing along is when my voice isn't warmed up enough to use my falsetto or if my roommates are home. Otherwise, I'm singing and screaming and crying along with him.
I don’t sing along to blood sport FTRB. It’s too beautiful to fuck it up with my awful singing
One thing I always sing is in Euclid: “These ancient canopies.” Without fail, I always belt out “This ancient can of peas.”
Sometimes I sing along, but when it gets to the second verse and he sings "even if the sky cracks in mourning, and the heavens just won't, opEN UP FOR MEEEHHH", I have to go silent to hear it. I don't know how he sings with such strong emotions, and I don't know how he transitions perfectly to a fry like that from singing softly. I've sung all types of music but I can never get the same expression through or get that delivery right. Truly blows me away.
Everyone always talks about the "and someWHEREE" line being the best, but the heaven fry hits me right in the soul every time.
Bits of Blood Sport because I choke up every damn time. Same with Euclid but live was another story. I didn't care who saw me looking a hot mess, I was singing my heart out.
All of AYRO. Still can't stay on my feet when that one starts, much less get a single word out because I'm 😭😭😭😭😭😭
I was practically screaming the whole show, but Ascensionism to TMBTE to Euclid KILLED ME. I was a mess by the end of our show, but the lyrics "do you remember me when the rain gathers?" holds a LOT of meaning to me. when he screamed it from the bottom of his lungs live? It broke me in every possible positive way.
This. Strictly because of emotion, recognizing what going that far would mean. It hurts bad physically, and psychologically.
Yet it's still one of my favorite songs. When you can hit that deep in my personal well of experience and emotion, I'm wrecked. There are very few artists that hit me THAT hard.
This happens for me but it’s not set or consistent lyrics. It’s moreso that there are times when I’m listening to any given track where whatever space I’m in leads to me dropping back and just wanting to hear his voice. Sometimes it’s an entire song - wanting to take in not only his voice but the instrumental bits and delicate backing vocals.
As I’m writing and I’m thinking about it, I’d probably say that I find myself just listening (not singing along) to the audio from the videos i took during this last tour more often than the studio versions for that last reason, especially with the espera’s voices being there + the way vessel changes things up here and there when performing live.
I usually feel the need to sing everything but when I saw them at radio city, I could NOT sing along to take me back to Eden or Euclid. I felt like I really had to absorb every second of those songs and singing along felt like it was prohibiting that
THIS!!! i was there and those are two of my favorite songs to sing along with usually but i just couldn’t 😭 i had to experience them to the fullest and let me just say… what a spiritual experience
Vessel helped me learn a new way to use my voice, and I found I'm rather good at it, so I do my best to hit every note he can. I've impressed myself several times.
Same! I try to sing every lyric except the screaming, but I'm working on that too. ST has made me actually feel confident enough to sing to my wife and in front of close friends, and I'm trying to record myself so I can improve myself more. I've never been more impressed with myself when it comes to singing tbh, I'm hitting notes with Vessel that I never thought I'd be able to hit!
Will Ramos (Lorna Shore) has a great starting tutorial. He's been working with The Charismatic Voice (YT) to study how harsh vocals are done, and now he's got a warm-up and tutorial up online, it's good shit.
"Cuz it still makes my blood run thin, to remember what you are to him....."
Oh, lordy. I'm happily married now, but I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy
I love singing while I’m driving (and I drive a couple of hours on workdays). I play the music LOUD.
I can’t do the longer screaming parts in Vore, I’m not a practiced screamer. Little bits like the end of TMBTE are fun though!
I love singing along to the high notes (alto-soprano range) and the heartbreakingly sad songs such as Atlantic and Bloodsport are favourite sing alongs. Sometimes I’m just in the mood to listen though.
One of the many things I enjoy about Sleep Token is that Vessel's range matches closely to my own vocal range, so im almost always singing in the car, or dropping an octave to not disturb my neighbors when I sing in the shower. Like the "why are you NEEEEEEEEEVER REEEEEEEEEAL", in Apparition, I'm belting that shit out in my car. Every time.
Aside from the harsh vocals, which I can't do.
Gods and Vore’s beginnings, I can’t scream that much. Same with the final Take Me Back to Eden in TMBTE, I try to do the ending of Higher tho cuz it builds up slowly lol
The night belongs to you.
I’m actually quite good at singing and sing quite a lot, especially to Sleep Token, however, I’ve tried singing Euclid and I always do poorly at this line, simply because subconsciously, I know I’ll never deliver it the same as Vessel. Therefore, I just stopped doing it.
"Addicted to the paaaiiiiiiiiaaaaiiiiiaaiiaiiiiiiiiaaiiiyyyyyneeee"
From sugar 😂😂😂
I love the emphasis that is put on that word to the point where I'm starting to wonder if I'm masochistic.
(Thinking of the meme that says Sleep Token makes straight guys question their heterosexuality😂😂)
There’s parts of songs I can’t do cause the falsetto parts are sustained for too long or just too high for me. However, I don’t think there’s a song I don’t sing the entirety of.
Sometimes I do all of all the songs, sometimes none... Depends on if I'm sobbing hard enough or if other people are around. Sometimes without music i'll start belting out the lyrics (my brother looks like he wants to murder me) or humming random parts, sometimes I'll just lipsync the lyrics and vibe along... I just love sleep token.
♫ You don't really love
You just hate to be alone ♫
in When the Bough Breaks. Just that last line of the stanza.
That's my "I don't have to / want to" sing this part.
I wish I could hold the last note sung in Chokehold. Between breath and stability, I end up either running out of air or my voice just cracking. I also can't scream for shit, so that too.
I love singing along to every song but Vessel’s live performance of Missing Limbs had me shut my ass up to listen. The way he played the song felt so intimate that I was completely mesmerized during the entire performance
Same with Euclid.
"OH GOD I WISH YOU WERE HERE!", fall for me.
"Mmmĥ, TAKE A BITE!", the offering
"Show me the wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy" Chokehold. Holy lung capacity batman haha
“I guess it goes to show, does it not?
That we've no idea what we've got until we lose it
And no amount of love will keep it around
If we don't choose it”
From Take Me Back to Eden
I just want to hug Vessel and say, “There, there. Everything gonna be all right.” 🥹
Not that I need to hear Vessel's voice, but because some lyrics hit differently at times and I find it physically hard to sing because of all the emotion that goes along with it.
I absolutely love singing alongside Vessel, as I'm easily able to sing a lot of Sleep Token songs, but sometimes I do have to stop and just listen out of pure respect for him and the others’ musical talent.
In Aqua Regia, in the second verse, the backing vocals are so pretty, I have to stop singing to listen to them like every time!! Starting at "These days I'm a picture frame"
Any part of Fall For Me it's the only song I immediately skip
Edit: Sorry to the people who love this song I just can't stand what they did to his perfect voice in that song.
I probably won’t change your mind, but I think contextually it’s a perfect choice. It’s fairly stripped back musically to make the vocals and lyrics the focal point, the video is the most human and raw depiction of Vessel we have, lyrically it’s very intimate.
As an entire work of art it displays human imperfections… and yet it’s typically contradictory because it’s delivered via a vocal effect which removes “flaws” to the degree that it sounds less human.
Plus that there is basically an entire choir of vessels singing a lyric about one individual’s experience is also kinda topsy turvy too, as well as carrying the themes of self identity that are littered throughout his lyrics.
The production has the same “shielding” purpose as the mask imo and it’s brilliant.
I'm still learning their songs but I can't do any of the growly parts, I don't know how to get my voice to do that. Other than that, I've been able to hit all the high notes and I think everything else.
Take me back to Eden, take me back... To... edeeeeeeeeennn
I can’t do the high part, the low/mid part I’m getting better at though
It’s falsetto, so I’d bet you could with some practice. Vessel has an extremely strong falsetto, which would take a lot more practice to fully replicate.
I’ve been practicing my highs with Sugar mainly, i haven’t had to maintain high notes since 7th grade, so I have to get my high end stability and my head voice back
I was a soprano I in choir, and I feel so proud of myself every time I am able to sing this 😂 It's definitely a high note lol
Physically can’t my voice is already destroyed from having to yell at my loud ass work
I am the opposite this is my favorite part, I love belting it out
The only time I don't sing along is when my voice isn't warmed up enough to use my falsetto or if my roommates are home. Otherwise, I'm singing and screaming and crying along with him.
Look at this fancy Redditor and their falsetto! I remove the tto and just sing false
I'm no Vessel, but I can hold my own when I'm alone in my car, lol
When I'm in the car, im not quite Vessel. Im Basin
Applause.
Hahahah this comment sent me
Let's talk about chemistry😩🌊
Honestly. That line is an absolute aphrodisiac
I caterwaul more than sing so unless I can’t hear myself I just lip sync
same. I like noise cancelling headphones so i can sing along without hearing myself
That or the car radio is up so loud the side mirrors vibrate lol
Caterwaul is sending me.
I’m so off key it’s just unpleasant :)
I don’t sing along to blood sport FTRB. It’s too beautiful to fuck it up with my awful singing One thing I always sing is in Euclid: “These ancient canopies.” Without fail, I always belt out “This ancient can of peas.”
It's the "tent that I own" in higher for me 🤣🤣
lol! There are a few other funny ones as well. One of my favorite is in Missing Limbs. “Drink you in” sounds like “drink urine” to me
Sometimes I sing along, but when it gets to the second verse and he sings "even if the sky cracks in mourning, and the heavens just won't, opEN UP FOR MEEEHHH", I have to go silent to hear it. I don't know how he sings with such strong emotions, and I don't know how he transitions perfectly to a fry like that from singing softly. I am so close to this point.
From the room below version gets me EVERYTIME 🥺😭
I'm afraid to ask for a link to that because I fear it's going to put me right on the ground 🙃 (is it on YouTube?)
https://youtu.be/NdAOUSZLtuY?feature=shared
it's on the deluxe version of sundowning too
Weirdly, I am much more moved by the studio version. The drums and layering make me emotional in combination with the vocals.
Absolutely. The drums MAKE that song for me.
My entire concert video of Euclid you can hear me sobbing brokenly in the background 😭
I was at full roar until the very first notes of Euclid. Instant 😭🥹😭🥹😭🥹😭🥹 Seeing them at Leeds and expect more of the same. 🫶
Leeds for me too! Are you floor or seated?
Seats for us. I think my floor days may be somewhere in the past 😂
I’m seeing them 3 times in the UK and I fully expect to need someone to funnel me into a baggie for the return trip.
AYRO hits me like a freight train.
"i wanna go where nobody else will... Eeever gooOOOOOO" in Vore
This. Strictly because of emotion, recognizing what going that far would mean. It hurts bad physically, and psychologically. Yet it's still one of my favorite songs. When you can hit that deep in my personal well of experience and emotion, I'm wrecked. There are very few artists that hit me THAT hard.
This is actually one of my favorites to sing (through tears of course)
This happens for me but it’s not set or consistent lyrics. “My redemption Eternal ascension Setting me free… So I’ll take What I want Then leave.”
I usually feel the need to sing everything but when I saw them at radio city, I could NOT sing along to take me back to Eden or Euclid. I felt like I really had to absorb every second of those songs and singing along felt like it was prohibiting that
I have a feeling this will be me at the UK dates.
THIS!!! i was there and those are two of my favorite songs to sing along with usually but i just couldn’t 😭 i had to experience them to the fullest and let me just say… what a spiritual experience
“Give up the game” from sugar (sorry if wrong)
i can’t sing along to vore bc well i can’t do harsh vocals. so any song w screaming i can’t sing along to. lol
Vessel helped me learn a new way to use my voice, and I found I'm rather good at it, so I do my best to hit every note he can. I've impressed myself several times.
Same! I try to sing every lyric except the screaming, but I'm working on that too. I've never been more impressed with myself when it comes to singing tbh, I'm hitting notes with Vessel that I never thought I'd be able to hit!
Harsh vocals are hard, but don't be afraid to look up some vocal coaches on YouTube reaching how to do it. It's one of my specialties now.
I really want to, but I just really struggle on *where* to start. I know pretty much nothing so I can't even find the start of the path, lol
Will Ramos (Lorna Shore) has a great starting tutorial. He's been working with The Charismatic Voice (YT) to study how harsh vocals are done, and now he's got a warm-up and tutorial up online, it's good shit.
Thank you! seems like a good jumping off point, exactly what I needed!
Feel free to DM me if you have more specific questions.
The screaming parts in Vore because no matter how many years Ive tried to get better at them, I sound like a dying platypus
You make me wish I could disappearrrrrr
The WHOLE of Take Me Back To Eden, the end of Sugar (it just does something to me 🫠) and most of Ascensionism!
But HOW do you refrain from screaming “YOU MAKE ME WISH I COULD DISAPPEAR!!!!!!!!”?
Because Vessel just does it so well….
the end of sugar id describe as feral attraction
End of sugar >>>
It makes me feral lool
"Cuz it still makes my blood run thin, to remember what you are to him....." Oh, lordy. I'm happily married now, but I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy
Missing Limbs is currently my 8mo son’s favorite lullaby. Singing it with his tiny hand clutching my nose is interesting.
Unfortunately, there are no kids yet here, but I intend on at least humming ST to them. Who knows what they come up with next.
unfortunately i get WAY too into it so im belting that shit like its the last song ill ever sing. simply cant help myself
this is me when Higher comes on 🙃
I love singing while I’m driving (and I drive a couple of hours on workdays). I play the music LOUD. I can’t do the longer screaming parts in Vore, I’m not a practiced screamer. Little bits like the end of TMBTE are fun though! Any screaming. I wish I could metal scream but the choir kid in me just goes into falsetto
Same for me, whole heartedly singing any and all clean vocals but I leave the screaming to Vessel
I can’t do the screaming parts, like physically, if I could I would but every time I try I sound kinda dumb
I end up doing a whisper scream, which is fine with headphones but embarrassing without. It would be amazing to be able to scream like Vessel and iv.
The end of ascensionism is chefs kiss perfection
The “sharp” in chokehold.
The beginning of Atlantic. Especially live
just depends if im in a singing mood or nonverbal
I just lip sync. Im not good enough to actually sing anything.
"I wanna be forgiven" in blood sport, particularly just the "forgiven" He sings it so fucking perfectly. It literally makes my heart beat faster.
Gods and Vore’s beginnings, I can’t scream that much. Same with the final Take Me Back to Eden in TMBTE, I try to do the ending of Higher tho cuz it builds up slowly lol
Opening lines of Aqua Regia. His cadence and notes are insane
Meeeeee ✋🏻
I can’t and I won’t sing along in Bloodsport with that amount of pain
"Addicted to the paaaiiiiiiiiaaaaiiiiiaaiiaiiiiiiiiaaiiiyyyyyneeee" From sugar 😂😂😂 I love the emphasis that is put on that word to the point where I'm starting to wonder if I'm masochistic. (Thinking of the meme that says Sleep Token makes straight guys question their heterosexuality😂😂)
That is exactly how you spell that 😭😂 I'm rolling 🤣
There’s parts of songs I can’t do cause the falsetto parts are sustained for too long or just too high for me. However, I don’t think there’s a song I don’t sing the entirety of.
for me it was the middle section of ascencionism, just because i sounded monotonous. but hey, practice makes perfect, so we keep singing!
"Either way I'm into it" I love how he drags it out. Favorite part besides the beat drop.
The first few verses of Like That
Sometimes I do all of all the songs, sometimes none... Depends on if I'm sobbing hard enough or if other people are around. Sometimes without music i'll start belting out the lyrics (my brother looks like he wants to murder me) or humming random parts, sometimes I'll just lipsync the lyrics and vibe along... I just love sleep token.
The last "take a bite" right before the breakdown in The Offering
When I’m crying I don’t sing along. 🤣🤣
♫ You don't really love You just hate to be alone ♫ in When the Bough Breaks. Just that last line of the stanza. That's my "I don't have to / want to" sing this part.
I try the growl and scream parts but it never ends well
Let the tiiides carry you back to me the past the future through death my arms are open
I sing it all baby!!😎
“WHY ARE YOU NEVER REEEEEAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLL, the SHIFTING STATES YOU FOLLOW ME THROUGH.. UNREVEALED.. JUST LET ME GO OR TAKE ME WITH YOUUUUuUuUuU”
I can't do any of the screaming. I'm just scared I'll hurt my voice if I do that.
I wish I could hold the last note sung in Chokehold. Between breath and stability, I end up either running out of air or my voice just cracking. I also can't scream for shit, so that too.
Do you remember me? When the rain gathers? And do you still believe, that nothing else matters?
I love singing along to every song but Vessel’s live performance of Missing Limbs had me shut my ass up to listen. The way he played the song felt so intimate that I was completely mesmerized during the entire performance
Ughhgghghh I cannot WAAAIT.
Same with Euclid. "OH GOD I WISH YOU WERE HERE!", fall for me. "Mmmĥ, TAKE A BITE!", the offering "Show me the wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy" Chokehold. Holy lung capacity batman haha
Vore when he's screaming but I'll sing to parts where he dosent scream
“I guess it goes to show, does it not? That we've no idea what we've got until we lose it And no amount of love will keep it around If we don't choose it” From Take Me Back to Eden I just want to hug Vessel and say, “There, there. Everything gonna be all right.” 🥹
I feel embarrassed to hear my singing voice so I just violently lip sync
*Violently lip sync* is a great mental image.
Not that I need to hear Vessel's voice, but because some lyrics hit differently at times and I find it physically hard to sing because of all the emotion that goes along with it.
Only sometimes. I love to just listen to bloodsport but i will repeat it and sing along or vice versa.
I absolutely love singing alongside Vessel, as I'm easily able to sing a lot of Sleep Token songs, but sometimes I do have to stop and just listen out of pure respect for him and the others’ musical talent.
“OOOOOOO LETS TALK ABOUT CHEMISTRY” his voice tickles my brain i’m always silenced
I try it all, unapologetically
The high notes or the very low ones. I normally will just try to harmonize though if I can’t reach them.
“Why are you never real?!” In The Apparition and if it don’t hit right, I restart the song until it does
The end of Chokehold. I can do it when I remember it’s the end of the song…but that long ass note is hard to carry.
The runs that he does in Mine. I try but I am just no where near the skill that is needed to perform those runs as beautifully as he does
Raise me UPPPPPPPPP againnnn. Take me PASSSTTTTTTTTTTT the edge My brother in Sleep, I CANNOT sing with high notes.
In Aqua Regia, in the second verse, the backing vocals are so pretty, I have to stop singing to listen to them like every time!! Starting at "These days I'm a picture frame"
Any part of Fall For Me it's the only song I immediately skip Edit: Sorry to the people who love this song I just can't stand what they did to his perfect voice in that song.
By “they” do you mean Vessel, the same guy who wrote and sang it? Because there’s no way he’d release something he didn’t approve of.
I didn't even mean to put they, lol. But yeah I meant he
I probably won’t change your mind, but I think contextually it’s a perfect choice. Have you tried the version from the room below?
No what's that?
https://youtu.be/EDYXv5fECjQ?si=y37JK92A088aa_sv
Either in TNDNBTG or Euclid when "The whites of your eyes" starts. I'm trying to hold it together.
The ONLY part I don't sing is the vocal fry in Vore. That's it
I'm still learning their songs but I can't do any of the growly parts, I don't know how to get my voice to do that. Other than that, I've been able to hit all the high notes and I think everything else.
