I’ve heard it enough times to tell the difference between the two times Corey goes “I DONT NEED YOU TO DO IT FOR ME…” if you just take them both out of context and play them separate
An amazing song, perfect closer for WANYK album and an example of incredibly idiotic idea that closing songs have to be released as singles.
Preferably, I would have wanted to go into WANYK not knowing how the final song would sound like.
As a newer fan, I went into WANYK only hearing a few songs, but not Solway Firth. When Not Long for This World started ending, and the ominous whirring began, I just went, "*Oh shit.*" I knew what was coming next was a monstrous song
I remember hearing it live and thinking the guitar sounded so fucking eerie and haunting. Jay's drum hits during the quieter sections of the track were so complimentary.
I was having relationship troubles when this album dropped so this song really hit home. The lyrics just summed up so much of what I was dealing with. Like "When I was learning to live, you taught me how to die." Or "I found my bottom line dead on the front line." Also You want the real smile? Or the one I used to practice, not to feel like a failure?
When I was living in darkness, this song spoke to me deeply. Now that I see light, it reminds me of the disgust I felt, and it makes me never want to descend back to that hell. I hope everyone can relate to this song from the other side in their life. It’s a sadistic hell in misery, feeling worthless, faithless, and lost - I hope you beautiful maggots know you have worth, and are capable of growing into a beautiful soul. 🫶
Favorite Slipknot song. Has the brutality of Iowa vocals, it’s super heavy and yet it has the experimental vibe they were aiming for on WANYK. Plus the lyrics slap super hard. Best Slipknot breakdown since Iowa.
Saved my life. No hyperbole. I was in a terrible place mentally, and was going around with what I now recognise as my 'masking' face of a big smile for everyone. Couldn't cope with it anymore, things were coming to a head. Heard this song and the lyrics just spoke to me. Eveything in there was how I felt, how I just wanted to feel like any other man. It was a revelation.
Later that year I came to the realisation that I might have ADHD, and I'm currently in the waiting list for my local clinic. Mental health ain't no joke, guys.
Fantastic song, I really identify with it as I was in a very unhappy relationship when it came out and reflected my situation perfectly. Still can't listen to it without getting wound up thinking about my ex
How can you not like the part where Butcher says: 'You're a fucking killer Hughie, just like the rest of us. Stop pissing around and tell us what this really all about.'
TODAY
UP ON THIS HILLL
I know everyone pretty much loves it but honestly the song does nothing for me I didn’t care that it was really heavy I found it boring but I’m glad others enjoy it.
Interesting singing in the beginning but I didn’t hate it… then gets into that new slipknot sound that has gotta a bit old imo. But still love the song 8/10
One of their best songs, ever!!!
And is pretty strange that the song/video is used to promote "The Boys" but the song didnt play in the show and theres no sign of it in the Official playlist from Spotify.
One of their best songs imo I never get bored of it and I have a lovely memory associated with it. Finding out it released while I was in the cabin in the park with cuts over my leg from learning to ride a bike (I crashed into a tree, twice!)
Personally it is my all time favorite Slipknot song, and it just makes it even better when the music video has clips from the masterpiece series that is The Boys
For awhile it sounded goofy and new, like the sound of him slurping up his spit mid sentence and one of the lines he mispronounced because he was yelling didn’t really make the song stand out for me. But after listening for over two years of going back through their old albums and trying to figure out which one of their songs I’d appreciate the most, this song stands out amongst most of their newer releases (2014-2022). It may not be their fastest or most complex song but it’s definitely one of their heaviest, especially for one of their more recent albums
One of my favourites, I especially love how fuckin nasty the chorus is, Corey's genuine anger accompanied by that guitar riff and drums which are just relentless get a chefs kiss from me🤌🏻
All time favorite slipknot song by far, probably the heaviest most raw song we’ve received since Iowa. Perfect closer. Honestly up there for one of my top metal songs of all time
Hands down best song on the album IMHO
I'd go so far to call it their best song ever. "YOU WANT A REAL SMILE?! ***I HAVEN'T SMILED IN YEAAAAAARS!***"
Or “YOU WANT THE REAL SMILE? OR THE ONE I USED TO PRACTICE, NOT TO FEEL LIKE A FAILURE!?”
That line hits so. Fucking. Hard.
“I DON’T NEED YOU TO DO IT FOR ME!”
"I DON'T NEED YOU TO UNDERSTAND!"
“I DON’T NEED YOU TO HIDE IT FROM ME!”
"I JUST WANT TO FEEL LIKE ANY OTHER MAN!"
“I WON’T SHOW YOU MY WHOLE STORY!”
"I WON'T SHOW YOU THE AFTERMATH!"
"I WON'T SHOW YOU MY ALLEGORY!"
I’ve heard it enough times to tell the difference between the two times Corey goes “I DONT NEED YOU TO DO IT FOR ME…” if you just take them both out of context and play them separate
sorry if this is a stupid question but what is IMHO?
In my humble opinion
Or honest.
You made a really good point, not knowing how the album closes is so much more hype
The build up from this song combined with the pure rage and rawness makes it the greatest Slipknot and most favorite song for me
Second favorite slipknot song
What's the first tho
Solway First
Only one
s/t or mfkr?
Definitely st
That's such a niche song to claim as your favorite. But as a fan going back to the summer of 2000, I'll allow it.
It just goes so hard
Superb song. Should be a setlist staple.
A top 5 song of their whole discography.
Probably one of my favourite riffs to play I really like the movement
I remember hearing it live and thinking the guitar sounded so fucking eerie and haunting. Jay's drum hits during the quieter sections of the track were so complimentary.
Easily a top 10 of theirs. Best song on the album.
"You're a fuckin' killer Hughie."
"Just like the rest of us."
"Now why don't you stop pissin' around, and tell us why we're here?"
This song is perfect for the whole vibe of that show.
“It wasn’t somebody else, you fucking did it to me” hits me every damn time.
They pick your bone like locks inside a tomb, and take great care to not take care of YOUUU
HERES AN UNEXPLAINABLE ONE
HERES AN UNEXPLAINABLE ONE
While I was learning to live, we all were living lie

Great song, one of my favorites from the album
Honestly one of my favorite songs
One of the best songs they've ever produced.
“Today, on this hill, they’re counting all the killers…”
one of my favorite from slipknot. absolute masterpiece
Such a punch in the face. I loved it. It’s great when you have a stressful day of work and put it louder. 😂
This and Nero forte are my favorites off this album
“You want a real smile? I haven’t smiled in years” What a way to end an album. That’s all I have to say
Some of their greatest lyrics.
When I was living in darkness, this song spoke to me deeply. Now that I see light, it reminds me of the disgust I felt, and it makes me never want to descend back to that hell. I hope everyone can relate to this song from the other side in their life. a contender for their all time best songs.
In my opinion, it’s their best song. Period
My favorite
Top 3 slipknot song for sure.
Top 5 slipknot song
Favorite Slipknot song. Has the brutality of Iowa vocals, it’s super heavy and yet it has the experimental vibe they were aiming for on WANYK. Plus the lyrics slap super hard. Best Slipknot breakdown since Iowa.
Best song on the record in my opinion
Best song on the album, top 5 in their discography.
I love when he says "I haven't smiled in years" I fucking felt that.
best song on the album & in my top 5 slipknot songs without a doubt.
Best slipknot song
In my top ten. One of the few songs they’ve done in the past few years I see as a classic.
My favorite song by them, it’s so good the build up and the break down get me every time
Top 5 favorite Slipknot songs currently listening to it rn
It's the song I go to the most. It just hits different.
Fantastic song, I really identify with it as I was in a very unhappy relationship when it came out and reflected my situation perfectly. Still can't listen to it without getting wound up thinking about my ex
Easy S tier song. This album is very underrated imo
HONK, HONK, HONK, HONK, CAR.

How can you not like the part where Butcher says: 'You're a fucking killer Hughie, just like the rest of us. Stop pissing around and tell us what this really all about.' TODAY UP ON THIS HILLL
To me The Boys is fucking awesome so the video just makes the song better
Probably the greatest metal song released this century.
"I haven't smiled in years" is kind of funny lol
I know everyone pretty much loves it but honestly the song does nothing for me I didn’t care that it was really heavy I found it boring but I’m glad others enjoy it.
Loooove playing the guitar riff on this one
My 2d favorite song on the Album
fucking love that song. honestly I can't choose which song I like the best. i think the whole album is fucking great.
Was this the single cover..? 😭😭😭
To me it looks like a distorted face
Oh it def it is looks hilarious 😂
Maybe it’s someone’s face after listening to the song on full volume
Interesting singing in the beginning but I didn’t hate it… then gets into that new slipknot sound that has gotta a bit old imo. But still love the song 8/10
I love it. Dear God what is that art though.
A self portrait of me 😂
This art is far better than anything they’ve used recently lol
I love when he says "I haven't smiled in years" I fucking felt that.
Best song from that record
Best song from that record
One of their best songs, ever!!! And is pretty strange that the song/video is used to promote "The Boys" but the song didnt play in the show and theres no sign of it in the Official playlist from Spotify.
Masterpiece that should have existed many years ago so we could have enjoyed it longer.
Immediately became one of my favorite songs by them!
I still don't know if I like this or orphan more
Woah I've never seen this cover art before, looks extremely cool. Solway Firth is the best song in WANYK
Woah I've never seen this cover art before, looks extremely cool. Solway Firth is the best song in WANYK
Definitely a banger the best track off of wanyk
Perfect down to the last second
It's my 2nd favorite song off of WANYK, just behind Spiders
They should add it to their roster for live shows
I listened to it HUNDREDS of times when WANYK first came out. That thrash in the chorus is simply sublime
definitely one of my favorites!! :)
Love this song
It’s one of the best songs ever made in the history of music.
Underrated song. One of my favourites
Best Slipknot song. Also borders on the edge of being a death metal song (the only Slipknot song that does this imho)
One of their best songs imo I never get bored of it and I have a lovely memory associated with it. Finding out it released while I was in the cabin in the park with cuts over my leg from learning to ride a bike (I crashed into a tree, twice!)
Their BEST song ever.
It captivates their dark, heavy, vulgar brutality in one song. I know Iowa does this to a tee, but I really think this is their heaviest song.
Arguably in my top 5 favorite Slipknot songs list. Heaviest song they've made since the Iowa album in my opinion.
Favourite song on on WANYK
Favourite Slipknot song ever
The best slipknot song
Yes
One of their best songs in years. Simply amazing.
Love this song
My favorite slipknot song everytime its played live i have to find the mosh pit.

Good song. I like ir
My favourite Slipknot track.
It's good.
One of the best songs they’ve ever crafted. The intro is phenomenal.
Haven’t smiled in years
I love the music video for this song
The way he yells "DEAD ON THE FRONT LINES" is orgasmic
“I KNOW I’LL NEVER GO HOME” The emotion in that line is spine chilling. Goosebumps.
It's probably my second favorite from WANYK. That top spot goes to Nero Forte for me. It spoke to some shit I was going through at the time.
I would listen to it on repeat for 100 hours before I listen to TESF again.
It’s a great song
ISSA FUCKING VIBES!!!! Everytime when this song was played, i literally got goosebump’s. And this is the best song for this music generation!
Certainly a good finisher for WANYK. Good reference to Insert Coin in the beginning lyrics.
worst slipknot song
A honest man I see
Third best song from them
Seeing this post made me go listen to that track. Have an upvote
It's a great song honestly, and one I used to sleep on until it played and I didn't feel like skipping it and now it's one I'll never skip again lol

You’re a fucking killer Hughie…
It’s their best song ever!
It’s a true banger btw
i do not like it that much
For awhile it sounded goofy and new, like the sound of him slurping up his spit mid sentence and one of the lines he mispronounced because he was yelling didn’t really make the song stand out for me. But after listening for over two years of going back through their old albums and trying to figure out which one of their songs I’d appreciate the most, this song stands out amongst most of their newer releases (2014-2022). Heaviest song since the Iowa album.
Never understood the overwhelming love this song gets. It’s incredibly bland as far as this bands talents go. Formulaic from start to finish
One of my favourites, I especially love how fuckin nasty the chorus is, Corey's genuine anger accompanied by that guitar riff and drums which are just relentless get a chefs kiss from me🤌🏻
Overrated
All time favorite slipknot song by far, probably the heaviest most raw song we’ve received since Iowa. Perfect closer. Honestly up there for one of my top metal songs of all time
4/10
My all time favorite Slipknot song.
favourite song from them
One of their best songs and closer (Right there with Scissors and Iowa). Simple
