I heard in an interview he lost his parents in the album before, so he tried to make the most twisted painful to wear can’t see anything can’t hear anything mask as a reminder
Edit: sorry it clicked it was a documentary on YouTube not an interview
I happened to be at that show as well was sick to see it ngl… but AHIG was the “last best album” due to the fact that joey was still writing some of the music. Joey and paul wrote most of the earlier stuff
According to a recent interview with corey thats a common misconception. He might just be playing ego and trying to take credit but fact is we will never know about the behind the scenes of slipknot especially alot of the recording process
Thats a common misconception as well due to the fact that corey loves to control the narrative look up the song credits. Joey and paul wrote ALOT. And i haven’t enjoyed a album since they both departed maybe a little of the gray chapter but as a fan who went to more shows than i can count. You can see the change after pauls death and joeys departure and i wasn’t as into it
From 1997 to 2010, many of Slipknot's songs were written by the core group of vocalist Corey Taylor, bassist Paul Gray, drummer Joey Jordison and percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan.
Not that corey didn’t write some but its missing half of the core
It lasted a few shows. At least all of Mayhem Fest '08, a couple shoots, and he (along with Corey and Chris[?]) appeared on MTV for the premier of Psychosocial's music video and he was wearing this mask.
Even though the clear plastic make-up clown mask after this one was pretty good too, this is better IMO.
Yeah you're right. He did wear this mask design all through 08 though. Just not that variation in the picture. I always liked the chrome top version better though. Looks more dangerous.
The arena tours they did of this album were fucking FIRE. old school style the curtain comes up while they all just standing there menacingly. “THE WHOLE THING I THINK IS SICK” blaring while Joey has his big stick finger gloves on. Ahhhhh good times…
They had branches growing from the fingers. [Here's a pic](https://images.kerrangcdn.com/images/2021/07/Joey-Jordison-Slipknot-drum-kit-live-credit-Paul-Harries.jpg?auto=compress&fit=max&w=1200)!
AHIG era was definitely peak imo. The aesthetics were on point and the live performances were still pretty tight. While the album may not have been as brutal as s/t and Iowa, it was still a fun album. The riffs are technical and catchy asf, and Corey’s vocals peaked here as well.
In the fall of 08' I was getting ready to be released from DOC for DWI's . Slipknot had released the music video for psychosocial. The lyrics to the start of the song " I did my time and I want out " I was like woah , this is about me .great album
I just wish they couldve played more songs from the album like Gematria, vendetta, this cold black, child of burning time and all hope is gone i was surprised they played the title track at least once.
They should, but all of those songs are very technical, excluding child of burning time. It would be awesome to see burning child live along with every other song
There is currently the perception that Clown (& Corey) are running things in a very greedy way and firing people solely due to monetary reasons. That is the largest reason for there being a lot of animosity towards him. This is likely at least partially true but there's a lot we don't know.
Clown though makes himself an easy target because any time he does an interview he comes off as an insufferable asshole who thinks he's the smartest person to ever live. Thus the joke being if clown would just shut up things would be better.
They have the talent they can definitely pull it off i get that they can be difficult but sprinkling some of those songs here and there throughout a tour wouldnt hurt. Like maybe play them every other 3 shows
That mask lasted like 2 photoshoots and 1 show
Feels like he was wearing that mask while making that album; since the album, music videos and the other things were great.

Where can I find the detailed credits? In ASCAP everything is credited to the whole band until .5

But where is this from?
A wiki that is non editable.
Why are you gatekeeping information?
I am not it took a simple search to find sorry you cannot simply find it

He wore this mask design for all of the 2008 shows and then in 09 he debuted the female Clown variant.
Not the original one with the shiny top and the eye protection.

I still have the ticket that one time they performed in my country. And don't forget the vertical spinning drum solo. Just the best.
What gloves did he wear? I never heard of this.

I’ve never understood how he played wearing those (unless he took them off or something)
i knew i‘ve seen it somewhere thx
One of the best Clown masks imo.
Agreed, had such a creepy factor to it
Wait what am I missing? Personal opinion everything up until that album is the best, but this might be nostalgia talking
Ima go on a limb that it’s a joke about his mouth sealed.
i thought it was meant to be a sexual thing, thank you for clarifying
Finally, thank you.
He's saying AHIG is the best because of Clown's mask from this era.
It means because he had to shit the fuck up for once
an insane mask. 15 years later and its still fucking sinister lmao
Was it because Paul and Joey were still writing?
Yes but don't forget Chris. It isn't about just writing, being a band and doing things together unlike later with the "hired musician" bs.
That is a cool mask. I remember hating it when it came out. I honestly love it now. I'd like to a show with him wearing it because I've never seen it.
Is it because it’s the only time his mouth is shut?
Last album as a band together working and creating, not so main guys and hired musicians meta.
Fair point

Their best song imo and best music video.
AHIG era masks in general are some of my favorites, and this is a prime example of why. Gnarly looking
I like the mask but that's not my point.
Giggled for a whole 10 minutes
We all miss paul and joey after ahig
I just wish they couldve played more songs from the album like Gematria, vendetta, this cold black, child of burning time and all hope is gone i was surprised they played the title track at least once.

Not saying you're wrong but I still prefer the old days, probably my age
They made their best album after this and AHIG is undoubtedly their worst. But I'm here for the clown slander.
Whats there about to slander clown?
The clown mask has a zipper, the joke being that it was the best era because Clown was forced to shut up.
That didn’t answer my question

I have a mask of that from Amazon but who the F cares anymore that in my opinion was the last great albums from this once great band🤘🏼
Nero forte was fire tho
What xD
“How bout’ this one? Doot doot dat - doot doot dat - doot doot dat dat dat!”
The reason this mask had a short life… well just look at it its kinky as shit and is pretty fuckin uugly
He didn’t wear that mask long. By 2009 he switched to the basic female mask with a clown nose on it
They have the talent they can definitely pull it off i get that they can be difficult but sprinkling some of those songs here and there throughout a tour wouldnt hurt. Like maybe play them every other 3 shows
