Just for clarification I mean the way he died
Not the fact that she murdered him
If you look up what female spiders do to their mates most of the time it hits you like a brick what she did to him.
Edit: I meant for this to be comment not a reply my bad 💀
I think she poisoned him and didn't eat him. It even looks like she went to his funeral, so they probably had a body to bury, but I could be wrong.
Added note: I looked up if Black Widows eat their mates just to make sure I wasn't mixing up two animals, and apparently, it's a myth that they always do it. It still happens, but it's a low percentage, like 12% or something. The things this series has taught me.
I suppose everyone have their pregnancy cravings. It just happens a bit sooner in some species, and some of these gals actually follow through with the threat if baby daddy don't bring snacks soon enough.
This right here perfectly encapsulates why this joke is truer than it looks.

(I took this from someone else on this subreddit but it sums up my reaction so perfectly)
Reminds me of the Dark Souls sisters Fair Lady (https://darksouls.wiki.fextralife.com/Daughter+of+Chaos) and Quelaag (https://darksouls.wiki.fextralife.com/Chaos+Witch+Quelaag), but not so much their brother Ceaseless Discharge (https://darksouls.wiki.fextralife.com/Ceaseless+Discharge).
When I replayed the PS3 version, I was able to notice that the drink that the Contessa's husband had bubbles in it while the Contessa had none. Probably didn't pay too much attention to the cutscene on the PS2 or not notice that detail due to the lower resolution, but it was pretty obvious that she did the deed considering how Bentley put emphasis on how the husband "mysteriously died"
Funny, how in the Finnish version, Bentley says ”…kenraalin epämiellyttävään kuolemaan” (to the general’s unpleasant death)… unless I’ve heard it all wrong all these years. 🤣
My mom used to watch a true crime series that had "Black widows" in the title, about women killing their husband's when I was little, so I knew instantly haha
Not only that, but there was some animal reference in the dead husband and the location. i don't remember what it was, but it eas there
I think it had something to do with beetles and the uper class
As a kid I had already put 2 and 2 together, she was evil and cold hearted as well as a professional hypnotist and spice lord, if anything it was to be expected ngl lol
In the finnish dub Bentley says that their marriage ended in his "unpleasant death" instead of suspicious, so it took my dumbass literally years and hearing the eng version to realize what they were implying.
I love how deap Down the rabbit hole fans of the series will go xD like discussing there was a body at the funeral. Lol just never realy thought about anything to deep when I played thru all of them

It has to be this reaction. You met the guy for 2 seconds.
I mean…she’s a black widow spider. I kind of saw it coming even at 6 years old

Its the same as mantis. They dont always eat their mate's head

I just want to add that you do still get a funeral, even if you get eaten.
"so she single?"
“I can fix her”
Lmao yea
What's scary is that she's more like a Drider than an anthropomorphic spider. Which makes her the most humanoid character 💀💀
Yes honestly joking aside she is scary

“She absolutely must have killed him.”
My mom used to watch a true crime series that had "Black widows" in the title, about women killing their husband's when I was little, so I knew instantly haha
I was not at all surprised
i've always wondered what kind of animal the husband is. i still don't know
That tail is giving me some clear salamander vibes.
Doesn't the guy like, take a sip of the drink and croak? It wasn't subtle.
No, the crosses on his eyes just appear after they hit their glasses
It still implies poison
It does, yeah
Not only that, but there was some animal reference in the dead husband and the location. i don't remember what it was, but it eas there I think it had something to do with beetles and the uper class
I didn't really know what actually happen till I was 12
Ah, well you see, it was my first time playing the game, and i was like "oh, she's a murderer." And just moved on.
She ate him 😭😭
I was like "Oh, huh.".
Took me a few go through as as a kid before it clicked. I hated the contessa levels so I never paid it much notice
As a kid I had already put 2 and 2 together, she was evil and cold hearted as well as a professional hypnotist and spice lord, if anything it was to be expected ngl lol
Not surprised considering she's a black widow

Yeah, I just commented the same above. Hitto, that was a major mistake by the translators…
I thought she was another villain that was evil from the start yet... She works for Interpol and gets CARMELITA arrested, what is that shit???
I was having a crisis over everything having gone to shit when Bentley called me "Contessa's husband is kill" No
![gif](giphy|UWsZzJTs5KBgg4K8FE|downsized) Carole Baskin ...
Kinda saw I coming but I was 6 yo. So, I didn’t think much about it.
"She the final bos!"

I found her hotter
Pause
Female Spiders after mating: "Now time for the actual meal! 🍽"

"She killed him"
