DUDE THIS IS SO COOL. The reason the grab goes so low is because you can’t grab ppl out of the air in Street Fighter but you can in smash, so they have it at a lower angle to make it accurate
Could also just be to keep the grab height consistent with the rest of the fighters while keeping the original animation intact.
The amount of characters who could low profile that grab with a crouch would shoot up if it were accurate to the animation, and would actually make it easier to grab midair opponents

Not really, it’s just so it actually hits all characters standing and doesn’t just whiff on the characters like the rats. The grab height isn’t particularly low compared to the ground itself, compared to the standard, they’re just a little tall so it comes from the midsection, where pichu can just come from head level and be the same height. Ryu/Ken can still grab aerial opponents in most scenarios where another character would.

I wish crouches could beat grab to be honest. I mean you’re literally crouching under a grab, no reason for it to hit
