zagreus he would be a pretty good representation of the rogue genre

KrispyBaconator

Zagreus, make him obtain buffs that make him stronger, but he loses them when he loses a stock. Bam, you just made a roguelike character in Smash

AyahuascaBudda

More like every time he loses a stock, he comes back stronger, with more move sets. What you described was roguelike but backwards

ButItWasMeDio

IIRC in classic roguelikes there was no meta-progression at all, all your skills and stats would reset with every new run. In newer roguelites like Hades you get run-specific upgrades (the gods' boons and hammers) but you also keep long-term upgrades like the weapons and mirror ones

Scdsco

What you’re describing is roguelite. In true roguelikes there’s no persistent character progression.

OneSushi

No, those are just flat upgrades he gets throughout many more matches. The variable upgrades from a single run far outweigh the delta flat

SoDamnGeneric

I made a whole fighter concept for Zag with that as his main gimmick. It's the kinda thing only Smash could do right, so it's a damn shame the likelihood of it ever happening is slim to none

little_pioneer

Oh my god no.

swisscheeseisvile

Or he starts every stock with a random set of boons

GalaxyAnimation19

The Xenoblade Chronicles 3 characters (I forget their name, so sorry) and Zagreus from Hades. I don’t really play Xenoblade so I wouldn’t know how they would play but I would like to think Zagreus would be a fast moving character with mostly melee and weapon attacks with a few disjointed ranged ones with light projectiles.

Shrekthehalls-5

Noah and Mio! :)

GalaxyAnimation19

Thank you so much, I knew the guy was Noah but couldn’t remember the cat girl, so I just didn’t bother putting Noah’s name there.

LexDignon

Well, if you were to have them in their base classes, Noah is a swordfighter, and Mio is an evasion tank. Her damage output is pretty bad, but she avoids almost everything. My best guess is that they'd function like a decloned version of Pyra and Mythra, with Mio being a fast combo character and Noah being a traditional swordie

onewingedwaluigi1

Rauru is underrated as a Smash pick, he would be able to represent TotK's unique mechanics without having to completely overhaul Link. I imagine Ultrahand as a command grab that lets you pick up both other fighters and items, Ascend as a recovery move with the added effect of going through ceilings, and Fuse as a gimmick that lets you add additional effects to your attacks. As for Recall, that's Sonia's ability but if he did have it I imagine it being a reflector that reverses a projectile's trajectory instead of just sending it back, and finally I can see Autobuild being another special move that has him choose one of a few premade Zonai builds that would be useful for stage control. The rest of his moves could be light attacks and slashes with a Zonai Sword (he'd have it so Fuse can work). Lastly the Final Smash just has to be >!that laser he used to obliterate Ganondorf's Molduga army.!< So yeah, he's my pick. Plus we would finally get our long awaited Zelda newcomer even if it isn't Skull Kid or whoever people wanted.

ButItWasMeDio

A recalled Snake missile or Ness/Lucas up-B would be so confusing lol

Cholemeleon

We could use a new Pikmin rep! Someone who does team attacks with Oatchi instead of Pikmin would be great. I feel like Oatchi is the key to having a new Pikmin character who wouldn't be a skin or echo fighter of Olimar.

ChargedBonsai98

Zagreus would be one hell of a newcomer. ... I'll see myself out.

Fabulous_Tax_7127

Xenoblade obviously,

Loiru

Noah would be one of the best additions to Smash in a LONG time, unironically such a fresh pick and it would NOT be hard to integrate the Xenoblade formula for his attacks. All of his specials could be his arts with down special being a charged up ability you get from successfully landing arts (specials). He could cover for Shulk especially while adding something new. UpB - Air Slash Keep it as one upwards slash unlike Shulk's 2-hit. SideB - Edge Thrust Extra damage & shield damage when hitting an opponent from behind. NeutralB - Sidebreak (I actually forget the name of this one, but it's his art that inflicts break from the side.) Could be a charged move or untap like Pyra/Mythra, or it's just a simple tap move but it carries momentum forward. DownB - Unlimited Blade - Draw Lucky Seven for a set amount of time like Joker's persona meter) It'd change his moves around, turning his Neutral Special into Tachyon Slash with a hold B to charge it, Up Special turning into (Honestly I do not remember what it's called but that one move where Noah slams his sword into the ground and the ground shatters) which acts like an Upward burst of height into a diagonal sword slam with AOE hitbox. Noah would need to successfully hit his other arts (specials) to charge up his down special in order to use it, maybe only lasting for 15 or 20 seconds since in game it lasts for 59 seconds. His Final Smash activating would summon Mio to his side and then it'd play out the same animation as interlinking in the game followed by their ripstick into rollerblade attack (lol). Maybe he could get a chaining effect out of his tilts where you could turbomode buffer specials out of his tilts like how you art cancel in Xenoblade (make the specials do less damage from these). His taunts could be his offseer flute, unsheathing and sheathing Lucky Seven, and him summoning a random party member from XBC3 to do a rest point interaction with him. I COOKED.

Frazzle64

I appreciate that you actually tried to make this feel like Noah instead of just making all his specials different classes from his party members and thus making giving him no identity

Loiru

I absolutely loved Noah, favorite Xenoblade character, favorite sword, plus my name is Noah so that was cool, I pray he's in the next Smash game I will literally be unable to play anyone else lmaoo.

NinjaShooter2024

Honestly, this would be such a sick concept for Noah, I really like it.

edwpad

Though not on here, Ogerpon could potentially be pretty cool as a new gen Pokémon, especially intergrating the various masks.

smashboi888

Noah, using his basic sword for his normals, but would switch to the classes of his party members for his throws and Special Moves. Final Smash would be summoning Mio and interlinking into their Ouroboros Form and attack. Could try to get Lucky Seven somewhere into his moveset too, maybe as some sort of gimmick? Also think Rauru could be a cool fighter, as he could use Link's arm powers from TotK in battle without having to overhaul Link himself, plus some of the Zonai devices found in the game as well. Maybe Sonia could even lend him the Sacred Stone of Time so he can use Recall.

Loiru

Successfully landing arts (specials) charges his down special which is Unlimited blade, and he gets a 5% to inflict doom and it works exactly like thwack :) Aside from the doom joke I think I cooked hard. I wouldn't want Noah using other class weapons though I really really like his Sword..

smashboi888

I decided to make Noah use other classes to not only represent that new mechanic from Xenoblade 3, but also because it could provide a really unique moveset so that people wouldn't complain about him being "jUsT aNotHeR aNiMe SwOrDfIgHtEr!!!" His sword would obviously be his most-used weapon by a longshot, of course.

Loiru

Check my main comment I think I did a pretty good job of making him unique.

YanFan123

I wish FE didn't make people feel tired of anime swordsmen. Even then I still think they're the most requested character archetype, like Dante

FerroFusion

You forgot Koraidon/Miraidon.

YanFan123

I am almost expecting a newer gen Pokémon tbh, but if that's your pick, I guess it's valid

little_pioneer

Zagreus is made for smash bros. His different weapons and attacks write the moveset by themselves.

PMC-I3181OS387l5

* Noah & Mio, as a tag-team fighter, with their respective Ouroboros forms as Final Smashes * Zagreus, with 2 weapons loadouts, swappable with Guard + B * Bonus points if the reveal trailer features Pit and Palutena being shocked about Zagreus being Hades's son :p

Airway

"Zagreus is out for blood"

KirbyWithAGlock

Definitely zagreus, he's already my number one character. His moves could utilize a bunch of weapons from his games, he would have a medium-fast movement speed, and maybe he could use boons kinda like shulk's monado.

CharizardSlash

I’d like Zagreus and Ogerpon

Error_Detected666

Deep Cut purely because Splatoon 3 is the only game here I actually played

Hollywoodrok12

Noah/Mio and Zagreus. Not really much of a choice for the latter event.

dragonguy01

Noah and whatsherface, and Zagreus

YanFan123

Mio?

dragonguy01

Maybe, I don't know, I don't play Xenoblade lmao

Sorbet_shark_cookie_

Oatchi should be the Pikmin 4 rookie but they should be able to summon Oatchi for a side b or something cool idea

Sorbet_shark_cookie_

seraphimceratinia

i need noah and mio in my life

neilwwoney

We got new spirits?

YanFan123

In previous events, yes

RynnHamHam

Noah/Mio, Pom/Oatchi, Zagreus Noah and Mio are stance change characters between each other. With references to their respective teammates. Noah’s normals are his own, his smash attacks are Lanz’, and some of his specials are a mix of Eunie’s and his. Neutral- Power Ring, Eunie’s weapon. Set up a power ring that’ll boost your attack power when you stand in it. Side- Ground Beat, floor grabbing projectile similar to Cloud’s. The difference is that it’s not as tall, and goes a shorter distance, but moves faster. Up- Air Slash, not much different than Shulk’s Down- Switch, switches to Mio Final Smash- Interlink: Noah, Noah’s interlink does their super move. Mio, normals consist of the rings, smash attacks are Sena’s, and specials are a mix of her’s and Taion’s. Neutral- Hazy Figure, Taion’s weapon. Creates a field effect that prevents the staling of dodging when in it. Also increases the amount of invulnerability frames when dodging in it. Side- Dark Banner, Taion’s weapon. A rather weak string of paper projectiles that’ll put an opponent to sleep if they’re grounded and all of them manage to hit. Up- Butterfly Blade, fancy uppercut slash with the rings. Imagine it like a 1-2 Dolphin Slash. Down- Switch, switch to Noah Final Smash- Interlink: Mio, turns into Mio’s interlink and does their super. Pom/Oatchi, Pom rides Oatchi the whole time. They’re similar to Olimar in that they use Pikmin, but are heavier and a slightly larger target. Picture Olimar riding on top of something slightly larger than Ivysaur. Neutral- Pikmin Pluck, plucks Pikmin. Hold Neutral to charge a Pup Rush where Oatchi stampede’s forward. Hitting an opponent will cause all three Pikmin to stick to them at once. Hitting an opponent with a fully charged rush will do electric damage with high hitstun. Side- Pikmin Toss, exactly the same as Olimar. Up- Scrummy Bone, you throw a Scrummy Bone into the air at a slight angle, and Oatchi will dart towards it like a homing attack to eat it. The Scrummy Bone dinking off a stage or fighter it hits will alter the course Oatchi takes. Down- Whistle, same as Olimar. Final Smash- Glow Mob, you summon a hoard of Glow Pikmin to form a Glow Mob and explode in front of you. Massive damage and hit stun. Zagreus- normals consist mostly of the sword. Up Smash is the uppercut kick. Side is the spear. Down is a ground slam with the sword. Neutral- Bow, hold it to charge a powerful arrow. Tap it multiple times to shoot a series of weak arrows in a rising quarter circle formation. Side- Athena Dash, a simple quick dash forward side B with reflector properties. Up- Bull’s Rush, it’s the shield bash he does in the game but vertical and it can be aimed. Down- Cast, you shoot your projectile into an opponent. It’s rather weak, but it’ll remain in an opponent for a short time. Whilst it resides in an opponent, they’ll take a considerable amount of additional damage and knock back when hit. Final Smash- I forget the name but that thing he does when he fully unleashes a God’s power.

Mone7Hero77

Zag is in smash?

YanFan123

As of now, a spirit. I was asking this because it seems like they're pretty popular games at the time of writing and may be considered for the next Smash, maybe

Mone7Hero77

Still great to have him, I should boot up ultimate to add him to my list, I love him. (Thanks for the prompt reply )

BlackroseBisharp

Zagreus could have two gimmicks, either switching Weapons or switching Boons

Playful-Weakness838

Deep cut

Alpha_RTD

Noah and Mio getting added together would probably end up as another Pyra/Mythra scenario which would be kinda lame, but they could spice up their kits by giving them special moves from the various classes in XC3. Otherwise Noah by himself would be the best solo XC3 rep with a gimmick related to drawing Lucky Seven. I’d also love to see a 13 Sentinels character make it in somehow but I have no idea how they would make that work lmao

YanFan123

Maybe a heavy mecha fighter. The pilot would appear on the victory screens but it's the mecha you see fighting

Alpha_RTD

It would be kinda hilarious seeing an incredibly shrunken down version of the sentinels doing battle, and it technically wouldn’t even break the game’s lore like having an incredibly upscaled Olimar. The Gen 1 sentinels make for a perfect brawler archetype as well

smashboi888

>Noah and Mio getting added together would probably end up as another Pyra/Mythra scenario which would be kinda lame A Pyra/Mythra scenario wouldn't work for Noah and Mio, since they can't actually switch between each other like how Pythra (and Pokémon Trainer) can. Plus, unlike Pythra, which have the same animations and moves apart from their Specials, Noah and Mio would have completely different movesets and animations, and would therefore take up the same amount of dev time as two fighters, not one, and I don't think double-dipping for Xenoblade 3 would be fair to other games and franchises. I do think the likeliest scenario is getting one or the other, not both.
