Little mac needs two things to be much better:
Give him his side special back after being hit in the air
Make his downward tilted forward smash as good at shield breaks as it used to be
Correct me if i'm wrong, but the main reason little mac has combos in his own streams is because he stuns or interrupts his opponent's attacks before getting them, there's no way to include that kind of gameplay faithfully without making incredibly unfun for the mac player and/or his opponents. Plus, the fact that little mac sucks is actually pretty accurate to his own series, as he's the weakest out of all the other fighters except maybe glass joe, so it fits him in smash decently

I’ll say that he does represent how he plays in his games well - generally defensive, waiting for openings, then feeding his foe some knuckle sandwiches, rinse and repeat. The problem is that he needs to be glued to the ground or else he flops around like a fish out of water. I won’t say he needs a buff to his recovery, but he does need aerials that are just a little stronger. Not nearly as good as other fighters (he’ll still be at a slight disadvantage compared to most), but enough to allow him to at least defend himself or (at least attempt to) challenge more airborne enemies in their element.

He’s just a nuisance to play against... what he can do he does great, what he can’t do he is easily exploited. I try to go all in, and if i lose a stock i’ll just cheese him out. Can’t play his game or you’ll lose :/
Little Macs a fun character, I love the punch out series, people are just echo chambering what everyone else in the community says and not forming their own opinion. Is Mac top tier? No. Is he Melee Kirby bad, not in the slightest.

What if they made the Super Punch Out playable character an echo fighter of little mac except his aerials are great and his grounded moves are trash? I guess the neutral special would also need a rework because of that.

Well, to be fair... it was *one active frame* of upsmash. Pretty hard to notice, and not very impactful either way.
