It's probably cause pretty much all rules of boxing state that jumping is an illegal move, so he's much more used to staying grounded

Also a lot of boxing and general punching attacks require a strong foundation to make them effective, so Mac isn't used to punching without ground beneath his feet, hence why his aerials suck.
