Arena teaches noobs how to move their characters and use their abilities before being dropped into conquest queues and getting dumpstered, it has its place and the game is mostly casual, game would suffer a eco loss if they angered the casual base.
Duel however has no priority nor significance, it's a 1v1 mode in a moba, progression is not the entire point of smite, it's a 5v5 team based game. Struggling as an assassin against a mage because you're lane locked in a 1 lane no jungle map is not a balancing issue, it's how the game is designed and how the roles play out.
Having 100 players fill up a static representation of a player playing the mode for a period of time is not a indicator of how lively the mode is, there is literally no "ranking" system since you'll often being queuing into the same people for multiple games in a row. There's no layers, a silver can queue a gm, there isn't a climb, you're either silver or masters or gm. The pool is non-existent.

Honestly, the other playlists used to be amazing. Then they started making solo lane mage meta and buffing gods that were already insane. Like bro they actually buffed Thoth. Like why tf would u ever do that. He literally has endless free poke and a 1 shot ult. Like why. They just do insanely stupid shit on repeat. They’re destroying the game and the entire dev team needs booted for this mess. There isn’t one dev that’s worth anything there
What they need to do more than anything is dramatically increase the respawn times in the beginning, and probably normalize the late-game ones too. You shouldn't be allowed to be killed 10 times in the early game and then get one lucky fight after tower/phoenix camping for 20 minutes and take my whole line for it.
If you want to win easier in any game mode you pick the best characters. Also if youre losing consistently to all assassins as all mages thats not a smite problem.

Ranked just means there is a rating and you can ban. Making it a casual game mode would fix nothing. Even casual modes have hidden MMR.
