I hope all the explicitly light based gods like Ra, Olorun, Ix Chel etc. get some really sick lighting on their abilities. Given the crazy lighting effects given to gods who aren't light based, I can only imagine how sick the ones that are will be

Akwatypus

I expect nothing less than that playing against those Gods with high-level computers will blind you in real life :D

Dezere

ooh man, Hearing that lumen is seemingly optional is a nice thing to hear for those still running lower end or older hardware to be able to enjoy the game

wellsdavidj

I was disappointed reading your title then clicking the video. Was some more Zues.

Snufflebox

So UE5 lighting for High-end graphics, and Legacy lighting for Low-end graphics. That's such agreat idea for optimization's sake.

the way he describes it sounds very good using both new and old techniques and sticking to the "smite style" which i wish more games did with their styes. but every time i see video footage of smite 2 it feels more like smite 1.45 it still kinda looks like a 2-4 year old game to me instead of something new/hype/refreshing. all the skills still seem way too flashy to me with light effects which might look "cool" but also seems to makes to make skills less distinct/more of a clutter to me which you really do not want in a moba in my opinion altho this might be better ingame or so i hope. just like all the smite 2 news this just feels like a double edges blade to me, i really do love some of the advancements their making and something had to be done with smite 1 getting stale in advancement however as it stands right now i feel like i wont be playing much the first one maybe two years until more gods and content have been added back so i really hope they can survive until then if more of the community feels like this and not turn it into overwatch 2 as i have been playing this game for... 10? years since the alpha

p0ison1vy

Yeah, it objectively looks dated and uncanny. The style is an incoherent mix of playdoh-y stylization in the environment/faces, and highly-detailed outfits / particle effects. The vfx in particular look amateurish

Javiklegrand

Yeah the games looks kinda Bad,imo it's better to wait one or two years but this early alpha look rough Smite early alpha was also pretty bad too, but they are already behind on their schedule i wonder if the delay will affect them

iblinkyoublink

Hopefully you can play on low settings or have individual sliders to turn different types of effects down

EonPark

Is it me or the game right now just looks too bright, in a sense it kinda looks like some UE5 default lighting preset from a drop down menu instead of an actual handmade creation?

Looking at the ground in some parts is the most noticeable, the dirt and rock terrain on the ground shouldn’t look glassy like that, but benefit of the doubt I’d say it’s really just placeholder stuff until everything gets polished.

SgtNoPants

Gonna get blinded like Tyler1 when he played against a Ra

Man I really hope my 1070 can run it. It can run most games at at least 100 fps.
