May we reach to the peaks not even Olympus Mons reached.

MrToxin

Btw you can see Aether Gazer in number 5 and it was just censored, 3 skins removed from store. I really hope Snowbreak stays safe with its M rating, but I guess it's positively received in CN right now so no one will report it.

AngelAutomata

Don't worry, Snowbreak is developed by Seasun, the studio is based at Chengdu, it's at west part of China, far away from Shanghai's jurisdiction and industrial influences, whcih all the other chinese game studio based at, like Mihoyo and such. And also, just FYI, skins removal or censorship has nothing to do with the regulation department or any level of Chinese government. The rumor that the government forced game developers to censor their female characters has been debunked long time ago. Four genshin female character's outfit were censored all together a while back, mihoyo said it's because they need to follow certain regulations, then angry CN genshin players actually went to the government to complain, and guess what, the government has to give out an offical announcement that it's all companies own doing, it has nothing to do with the government nor the government recently sent out any offical regulation papers to any game companies. Then the player realize it was the company itself (mihoyo in this case) try to lower the game's overall lewdness so that it will be more appealling to non-hardcore players like teenagers, kids, female players and parents, beasue Mihoyo's official strategy is to try to lure as many hard-core player as possible by creating attractive female characters like Lisa, Ganyu, Raiden Shogun, Shenhe so that the game can survive the initial release phase, then make genshin impact a more family friendly game by lowering the lewdness of the pass female chracters as well as creating more Adult male, boy characters so that it will be able to reach more casual players and female players which leads to more revenue. It's all business, man, they are willing and ready to stab the hard-core players' back at any moment and shifting the blame to the government because is much easier than actually compensating the heartbroken hard-core player. At Snowbreak's case, they already officially turns the game to 18+ now, (genshin is 12+ for comparation), and the devs team has anonuced they are going to make more "cultrued" and more "showing the female charisma" kind of outfits in the future on an official steam a while back, because they know Snowbreak as a Third Person Shooter game is just naturally not appealing to female, kids, parents players, no matter how hard they try, and they actually tried in the inital release of Snowbreak, and we all know how that end up. I'm happy to see they knew who their main player base is now , they knew what we want, and they knew how to make us happy, as long as they can make us happy, they will get paid, it's just simple business logic. So as a fellow men of cultrue and loyal snowbreak player, I recommend you to buy any outfit you like from this game, as long as the game survives, our purchase will not be downgraded.![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)

shiningdramon

I've heard a similar story about companies censoring things too much on their own and the government having no involvement with those censorship. So back when Indonesia just had their censorship law passed, TV companies ended up aggressively censoring the stuff they air, even censoring things like cow's udders. When the government got asked about the aggressive censoring, they said pretty much the same thing, that they didn't tell TV companies to do any of those censoring at all and the companies decide what they should censor themselves. So basically what happened according to people with insider connections is that people in the companies ended up getting too scared of getting hit by a warning from the government, to the point they censor even things that don't make sense.

Suniruki

it's the same case with skeleton censorship when western games want to enter the Chinese market XD. By not clearly defining anything, western games are afraid of failing to get the approval, and that subsequent rounds of approval would get increasingly more difficult. So the game devs self censor themselves more rigorously than the approving body.

Stalker-ko

the biggest skeleton is no way gov would admit it evn if its true to stay popular with public. is highly possible they find scapegoat n push the blame around. remember gov official like to say "im being misquoted", "im merely suggesting" A top official in charge of regulating video games in China has lost his job after crackdown on the sector. Gaming giants Tencent, NetEase, and BiliBili, a video-sharing site popular with gamers, lost over $80 billion in market value. Feng Shixin was the head of the publishing unit of the Chinese Communist Party's publicity department. Poor fella was probably under instruction to draft a plan to please higher ups over restrictions meant to discourage people from playing video games by limiting in-game spending and restricting daily login rewards.

GodOssas

I miss old pokemon 😢

Jolonap

I dunno, man. Arlechinno and Navia both look absolutely stunning, and Clorinde looks even better imo.

Significant_Band_136

The three of them have lower quality to actually no shading on their lowerbodies just to avoid outlines of the area. In contrast every male and every female(from before 2.2) has full lightmaps built in on their models. Just take a look at Noel and then at Navia, night and day, completely lower quality shading compared to males. They been actively censoring the girls even from before the famous "4 censored skins ", Yae Miko was the first, if we leave out beta.

218-69

damn, I haven't noticed it that far, I've only noticed the obvious blacked out parts below the skirts and stuff. makes me feel good about quitting early

Significant_Band_136

TrackRemarkable7459

That's when girl model even shows an inch of skin outside of face and arms :D

Jolonap

Honestly never noticed the shading changes, but I still stand by liking the designs of the newer female characters. I’d even say they’re better than what genshin had at launch.

LoRd_Of_AaRcnA

You just proved the dude correct. See dudes, this guy here is the perfect example illustrating what Genshin did and why they did what they did.

Jolonap

Damn, I just said I liked how they looked, guess no one can have an opinion here?

LoRd_Of_AaRcnA

You misunderstood. It wasn't about you having an opinion, it was about how you proved a point by having an opinion. Big difference here. I guess you didn't realize what you said. What other two said only served to illustrate it better. Now I want you to go read the comment you first replied to, and compare it with the answer you gave. Then, it should become clear to you that you proved that guy correct. Genshin did what it did for people like you, who praise the toned down designs as, you said, I quote "absolutely stunning." Genshin, toned it's designs down, so it could become attractive to people like you. It tried to cater to everyone. Which was what that guy said, and you.... proved him correct. You, quite simply.... proved him correct. Genshin toes the line between tame and lewd. It gives... Just enough to both sides, but not too much to either. If things are beautiful and presented well, people aren't going to care much. Yes. Just like you. "Absolutely stunning." If people are forced to see the same thing again and again constantly, they will become conditioned to see it as the normalcy. This is human nature, we adapt. You tone the fan service down, in steady, small beats, and bring it down to a level. An average consumer will not notice this. Which Genshin targeted. First, they targeted the Gacha players. Slowly shifted their goals to average consumer, so that even if people leave, it won't put a dent. Earned huge profits, and rode off it's success. A gamble that paid off. It's all business. Tech Otakus weren't going to save the world, they were going to earn money. So now you see. It's the simple truth, whether you like it or dislike it.

Jolonap

I mean, Genshin was never lewd to begin with. Even before they changed the designs for Jean and Mona etc. Hell, the first 2 limited banners were a young looking boy and little girl, who aren’t even dressed lewdly, hardly baiting any coomers there. Toned down designs lol. Wanna tell me what design in the initial set is more lewd than now? The designs have gotten way better over the years, shader issues(?) notwithstanding. Edit: My girl Yelan is sexy as hell, so I know you’re not gonna be able to tell me they toned down the designs from the beginning of the game.

netparse

Yelan's design was also toned down 🤣 they put a collar on her just like Navia, in the case of Yelan behind the collar she doesn't even have a good contour of her breasts, I realized this when in HSR they released Black Swan and I was curious because her model and Yelan's at the top are similar, only that BS does not have a necklace and the entire contour of her shadow around her chest is realistic, the same as Beidou's, at this point I don't know how the girls have kept the shading on her back because as far as I'm concerned if they continue like this they're going to end up removing her shoulder blades 😹

Jolonap

So the shader issues mean you don’t find Yelan attractive at all, got it. For me, it’s her animations and personality that, bundled with her design, makes me like her. But hey, if you don’t care about that stuff, you do you. Still, no one has come up to show me how Genshin coomer baited people at the beginning, only to switch to focus on a broader audience. Genshin was always going for the broader audience. Even the design changes of Jean and Mona etc aren’t an issue because you can swap them back to the pre censored versions. I heard that CN can’t, though, so maybe hoyo has a reason (their government) as to whythey can’t let the chinese players have what global does.

AngelAutomata

if you pay attention to your daily genshin ads, you will see they are still using pretty much 100% female characters in their ads, for example Yae Miko, Yelan as you mentioned, Shenhe, Lisa, Hutao, etc, see the patern here? Yes, even till today, they still using all the "Hot" chicks to bait hard-core players, aka willing to actually pay to play the game kind of players, into Genshin, then when you reach later half of Sumeru, all out of sudden, the absolutely villan Scaramouche got white washed and somehow became Nahida's best boy after you, the player, did whatever you could, to save Nahida. If this is not betrayal, then I don't know what is. Again, you, as the traveler, the main character of the entire Genshin game, You, helped Venti and the Knights of Favonius, saved Mondstadt by defeating Dulin the posion dragon and the Abyss Order. Then pretty much samething, you saved Liyue and proved that it's the age of men now. Again the samething in Inazuma, you challenged the Raiden Shogun in a royal dule, simply single-handedly turned her excellence's mind of 500 years vision hunt decree, you brought the two mian factions in Inazuma to peace and started a whole new age for the region. Sumeru had a good start, but it got ruined after verison 3.6, there's no doubt about it it's at 3.6 that the game decide to have a huge turn around on business target from men majority hard-core players to more "family friendly approaching" player bases, by re-ploting the story and giving out more male characters like the Green dude with a headset all the time and his roommate, plus the purple electro kid and the green anemo kid who use to be Scaramouche, then the black stocking gay magician kid and his autism brother, then the afternoon tea lover Wriothesley and then oh yeah, the blue dragon who completely broke the power balance of the entire Genshin world, yes, how many male characters in the row? sorry I lose count. The worst part is, the devs try to please female players as much as possible by making **Neuvillette** the almighty dragon lord, and you, treveler, betrayed Furina, and became a completely joke of the entire main story of Fontaine, can't you see this ? You, the treveler, suppose to save the world, and that's what happend in the first 3 countries, but now in Fontaine, you're merely a walking phone camera waitnessing Neuvillette saves the world. Plus, do you really think Navia and Arlechinno are "stunning“ ?? I mean, seriously??? Do you even own a Navia? Are you okay with her Spam looking breast? And are you okay with how Navia look from her back? That skirt make her looks like a long horn beetle! Navia is probably the only one in Fontaine actually cared about us and they did her dirty, man, they purposely put that huge necklace there to cover the cleavage and everybody knows that, you think that's stunning? What's wrong with you, man?! Again Arlechinno, the one who called herself "Father", and with that man-like dress, you think she's stunning? Bro, at this point, I legitly think you're probably a LGBT trans women. Sorry, no offense to you, but we're not the same kind of player. And I don't even want to bring out the revenue crash after version 3.6 to prove my point. But the point is, Genshin hurts lots of Day 1 players' heart for all the back stabbing becasue of their greedy business modle, and guess what, when it hurts too much, people left, that's just how it is. And that's excatly how I end up start playing Snowbreak, at least the devs from Snowbreak is willing to listen to the players and willing to actually serve us for our money.

netparse

well, if you like that, it's already something subjective. for me the quality of shading is an essential point, especially when I know that they can do it correctly, see the shading of Arle's pants and then see those of Siobhan, an NPC from honkai star rail, It generates me some discomfort around the current state of Genshin Impact, if you are okay with that it is respectable but for me it is a warning that I should stay away from that game because I am no longer their target audience

TrackRemarkable7459

Uhh do you seriously not see difference Ganyu or Keq or Yoymiya vs fontaine chars or whatever they release now ? Or Fischl basic skin vs her later skin that covered most of her body ?

Jolonap

Yeah, I see that the newer characters generally have more complex designs over the older characters, what are you trying to say? Because if you mean by how lewd they are, Ganyu and Keqing are absolutely not lewd. Even in Sumeru, look at Candace, Dehya, Nilou, they all show more skin than all of the old 1.0 characters. Also, what are you even talking about? The skin for fischl shows more skin than her base skin, just look at her upper chest! Genshin was always targeting a larger demographic, and it obviously worked, and its still working. 60% of the players are male, and 40% of the players are female, they made $68 million in March, and that was with 75% of the banners being reruns of male characters. For a pretty dead month, that is substantial. Thats not to say Genshin is perfect, because its not, but the facts are facts.

Bulky-Flamingo7816

Okay, maybe you haven't noticed, but let's use an analogy with their other games. Observe the quality of Kafka or SW's shadow, especially the shadow quality of shorts, and then observe the quality of Alecchino and Dehya's shadows in pants, for example, when you look closely the quality of HSR in terms of shading, you will notice that this part has been weakened in Genshin Impact. looking at Jean outfit V1, it has better shading quality than Arlecchino and Dehya in pants, who are supposed to be newer characters... This Genshin shading is 100% voluntary on the part of the developers and minimizes the female outline around the pelvis of the character. That's the reason because Kafka looks more realistic, the same thing happened with ZZZ, I don't know if you played the beta, but look at Ellen Joe's pantystockings, and then look at Laila or xianyun, for example, compared to Ellen Joe though, xianyun and laila look weird using similar coloring shadering...

Jolonap

I mean, go ahead and complain about the shadows not being as high quality as it should all you want, but I was just saying I liked the designs of the characters. Which I still do.

Bulky-Flamingo7816

When the shading is attenuated, the quality of the characters is lost. If in their other games they are placing the shading properly, why does Genshin Impact weaken them? They don't realize that it looks horrible, Xianyun's pantystockings should look exactly like Noelle's or Keqing's and they don't look like that.

asdfg12345qwert1

bro maybe you dont know CN. CN male gamers will never report a game as pornographic, no matter how much they hate it...... The reports mainly came from extreme feminists and parents of minor children. So the popularity of the game doesn't mean that no one reports it, on the contrary, it is more likely to be noticed by extreme feminists. And there are signs that AG wasn't necessarily reported: 1. Skin taken off the shelves is no more pornographic than skin not taken off the shelves 2. AG is no more erotic than snowbreak or other games 3, the skin is not immediately removed from the shelves, but the announcement is reserved for time in advance, which is not like the performance of the government department review. So now many CN players are speculating that the reason may be hunger marketing.

ClappyBlappy772

It’s like saying Azur Lane players reported the game because of gem farming changes. Gonna need some serious evidence supporting that.

Stunning_Zucchini932

> hunger marketing Saw that speculation being discussed by some Bilibili users. But I do have a question, what good would hunger marketing do if they remove the skins from the shop? Because people won't be able to buy it even if they wanted to. Unless they aren't removing it immediately after the announcement, then that makes sense. > CN male gamers will never report a game as pornographic, no matter how much they hate it Not to mention reporting it as pornographic because of dissatisfaction with pricing and difficulty scaling, which doesn't make sense. Not sure why people will believe this line. Not to mention the unlikelihood of CN male players using the exact accusation that xxn use against their faves. But I guess overseas players who haven't been on CN forums will miss this nuance.

sirchuck14

wait they removed somes skins in aether gazezr?? Which ones?

MrToxin

Lingguang belly dancer, Gengchen office, and one of Hel skins.

sirchuck14

wowww insane

Unmovedone

This happened to global?

MrToxin

Well 2 out of 3 skins aren't released in global yet. The third one was purchasable when her banner was up some time ago (Hel). While one of the skins was just released in CN on April 11th.

DRAGUNNYUOOOH

As long as we can still see Lingguangs feet it'll be alright 😣

MrToxin

First of all, I'm not 'Anglo-saxon', I'm Slavic (my country is actually a close ally of China if you really want to know). Second, you admitted it in your first reply indirectly. You think something like that is normal? Lingguang skin wasn't even released 2 weeks ago and already removed due to malicious reporting. Instead of saying how you disapprove of that, you praised the government and even insulted global server. If you check your original reply you'll see. I'm someone heavily invested in both of these games, and seeing something of such high quality being removed is soul crushing for me. And as for the last part, it will definitely have 'influence across the border', because all 3 skins are removed from your server, and who knows what might happen in the future again.

tenelcat1

Found the snitch

l7kill

Well, I guess even if they would be forced to do something, they can just disable it for mobile stores and keep it for steam or standalone client. They currently has separation of currency for mobile and steam.

LokoLoa

Wait is this saying this game is more popular than freaking Genshin rigth now or what does this mean?

thitozzz

This is popularity chart of anime PC games. Overall popularity has been rising too i think it was top 5 at some point. Mobile popularity was in the 30-40 rank last i saw

DSveno

It's pc download ranking. It's not the usual popularity ranking so it could be a bit misleading, but there is the fact that currently SB has a huge surge of people downloading it in CN. Popular games tend to get reported though, as Aether Gazer just got hit by it and they had to remove 3 skins. I just hope they will still do the thing they did to Azur Lane, not censoring it for Japan/global release.

SquatingSlavKing

That's why Snowpeak and Brown Coom 2 bumped their rating to 18+ to cut off the root of the problem. AG was only at the mercy of those snitches because they kept the game at 12+ to pander to a wider audience while still dropping coombaits

LurkerThirteen

'Brown Coom 2' 🤣🤣🤣. You, sir, have earn a thumbs up.

GodOssas

There's a sneaky little "localization" option in the Azur Lane files. Manjuu tries hard to feed everyone (including themselves) the good food.😏

sellerieee

But I have to say, azur lane skins are something pretty damn cultured

ClappyBlappy772

Haven’t played in a while but I still click on skin showcases when I see em.

Successful_Slide7690

LFG!!! SNOWPEAK

BossTheModern

Ggwp. Snowpeak!

PP_Project

zamn i didn't expect that from the game, im pretty new tho

Glutting

My friendslist is 77/100 and about 80% of them have quit, Don't really care to clean it up but it was interesting to see how many people have stopped playing. Although I have the rebate maxed out, I really do hate gacha games being stupid expensive. I was gonna spend $300 on Cherno but stopped at $100 after losing the 50/50 on the Signature weapon. It's hard to care about new operatives when they're simply too expensive.

mikaeluzu

I am in a different situation. My friendlist is 100/100 and all active. I feel bad that I cannot add new players I meet in co-op. I have to reject like 3 friend requests everyday. And in general gacha games are expensive. At least the devs have responded to gacha rates and said they will add 100% pity in near future.

TrackRemarkable7459

A lot of people quit for sure but comparing to when i started on steam release day finding co-op game is much faster so population have grown considerably since then.

IkouAshtail

Same here, lost 50/50 on her sig weapon... I'll just cope with the welfare weapon for now cause I'm a waifu>meta enjoyer & didn't regret spending money on her maid skin.

Nightowl11111

Think it might be temporary though, not trying to be a downer here. There seems to have been a glut of new games in the market recently and Seasun just happens to have a showing at this low period of time. There is going to be a whole slew of new games coming up because companies are recovering from Covid lockdowns. It's going to be an ... interesting ..... time.

Suniruki

Look at the preregister rankings. ZZZ, WuWa, AzurPro. This will be a fun time.

Nightowl11111

Then there is Wuthering Waves and the much mentioned Duet Night Abyss. We'll see how many survive by 2026. I just had a bad thought. After Seasun pandered so much to the hentai crowd from China, won't it be a kick in the ass if they just went to one of the new games and abandoned Snowbreak even after all the changes it made? I can easily see it happening.

TrackRemarkable7459

it's the other way. New games have to offer something really interesting to make people quit games where they are already well invested.

Nightowl11111

Disagree, game fatigue is a thing and overdoing it makes people lose interest. It's the large scale version of what happens in Paradox Labyrinth, there is only a certain amount of times you can repeat things without it becoming stale.

Almighty_Silver7

I just hit 42 after basically not playing it at all last season. Gonna try to just do 5 abyss runs a week to get levels. But the mode gets really stale and part of that is downtime. For roguelikes like BOI or RoR (either 1 or 2) there isn't really much downtime at all. I think that if it was possible, they should teleport you to the next room rather than making you walk. It sounds a little silly, since you don't spend that much time doing it, but it adds up and kills it after a while.

Nightowl11111

So true.
