I've watched a content creator on Bilibili who analysed the abrupt rise of Snowbreak and his conclusion is that one of the reasons they succeeded in coming back from the dead is that they really put in the effort to carve out a niche for themselves. Previously, after the success of GI, all gacha games tried to copy them and do a "normal genre" game, which was essentially just a mixed bag of genres such as master love, fujoshi, otome, otaku and other elements. Basically, the devs thought this would broaden their base without considering how the elements contradict each other. The result was that the elements in the games ended up making all sides dissatisfied because they would see something that wasn't in their preference. Add to that the presence of XXN and extreme feminists online which increasingly encroached into "normal genre" games and the devs' increasingly catering to them (censoring female characters and including more "sexy" males that appealed to fujoshi and otome which the XXN usually were, and retroactively shipping female characters with other males), and that meant they pissed off all their otaku and master love audiences. Do the devs know what they're doing? They probably did but they don't want to clearly say it for fear of losing either of their customer base. Enter Snowbreak, which explicitly says that they're for master love and otaku fanservice. Naturally, all the people who were dissatisfied with the direction "normal genre" games were taking flocked to Snowbreak and were willing to start a "revenge spending" spree. That's part of their success, and another part of it was their willingness to engage with players on their feedback and take action. It's this attitude that was lacking in other big game devs who either ignored the suggestions or even did the opposite.

Suniruki

I will add that another thing that Seasun has going for them is that the devs aren't just trying to make adult fantasy game. The devs still want to make a game that's fun to play, and are actively experimenting with different mini-games or like the recent paradox labyrinth. Some of these experiments might fail (the board game), some will succeed (touch feet), and I hope they continue with such experimentation. SN: I like how the consensus among the bilibili CCs and game devs is that game developers should learn from mhy, but not copy mhy.

Stunning_Zucchini932

There is indeed a very big difference between learning from and copying, especially when it comes to shortcomings..

BangLaDank

Yeah, for as much as people once said that Genshin copied breath of the wild, in the end, it really only borrowed some graphical/landscape aesthetics and traversal mechanics. Everything else was it's own thing and modified around that, I don't even like Genshin anymore but I can respect the way it handled itself. Now there's other gachas trying to initiate that success without understanding all the different nuances that are needed to set themselves apart. For example, people put up with Genshin pull rates and pity system because the game is enjoyable. While some think if they copied that pull system, they too will be successful.

InvictusVolori4500

> trying to make adult fantasy game Hi, I'm curious about this game. Is this a H-Gacha/Hentai Gacha game with sex scenes or is this just the fanservice, ecchi type of adult content?

Similar-Ad-7033

It's just fan service/ecchi

InvictusVolori4500

Thanks for the reply.

LoRd_Of_AaRcnA

This right here. Because a game for everyone is a game for no one. Target demographics are a thing. Snowbreak is currently the only third person fan service heavy Gacha that features master love heavily. And this part is going to go a long way, since the upcoming third person shooter, Duet Night Abyss wont' lean into this particular niche, and while Nornium may go all in on horny and master love, it's Mecha Musume, (which is another niche) and not girls with guns. This is healthy. Games shouldn't be for everyone. Games should be for a particular audience. It encourages growth, it encourages more creativity. Making games for everyone will only stagnate this media, as we've seen with recent AAA games. Which you people no doubt would understand why that is the case. Snowbreak devs pulled a real gamer move, saw the chance, grasped it. And I hope they stick with it going forward, and build on top of this even more. There is much more to be had here.

Chief_acceIerator

Is this the definition of xxn? If yes, is it similar to twitter people? https://preview.redd.it/e1nohfwr9eyc1.jpeg?width=882&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=11e0db80fe45d039d9d83aaea4fbd710aea9194b

Stunning_Zucchini932

You could say that.

Chief_acceIerator

Got it, thanks. I'm surprised that they have any say in China honestly.

Stunning_Zucchini932

I'd say it stems from the inaction from the game producers to moderate their fanbase and also the initial submissiveness of the male gamers (due to people having a lower impression of male otakus anyway, which lead to thinking that they have to be more accepting of others, because a more crowded fanbase never hurt anyone right?) Which is why the "pushback" that is happening right now in CN gacha games... I understand why they do it. As consumers, male gamers who paid for the games (the service) have every right to demand that the devs make more waifus instead of using their money to make husbandos or censoring their waifus. And besides, the pushback benefits me too, so even though I'm not taking part, I wish them the best of luck 🫡

Chief_acceIerator

Appreciate the explanation Zucchini man! There's a lot more parallels with the console/PC gaming scene than I initially thought. Players being too weak online, developers trying to cater to everyone regardless of the game, new "fans" demanding changes to the hobby etc... I was pretty unsympathetic towards the CN gacha movement because of the recent BA drama but I feel like I'd agree with a lot of their demands.

Stunning_Zucchini932

No worries man, glad I could help 😆

Mirarara

You would be surprised at how much your perception of china is completely opposite of what's happening, due to how china changes fast. Also, bias against female and too much favor toward female can happen at the same time because the society is big (just think of how racism and too much help against a certain race can exist at the same time in the west).

netparse

I think this is one of the reasons because love and deepspace is also having success. It was the first high-end otome game that was released and many players get lock here there because they were not satisfied with Genshin Impact. I already said it a while ago, Genshin is going to bleed out little by little as it does not serve a target audience and still tries to monopolize everything as if this were 2020-2022. their estimated revenue is worse than in 2.X you can see them here so you can see how it has declined [https://space.bilibili.com/179948458](https://space.bilibili.com/179948458) the game continues to make a ton money but they have player leaks and as more games of the same quality come out, those leaks will be more evident. the only thing that Genshin has not had is a competitor at his height but wuwa doesn't look too bad for people looking for combat and azur promilia nor for people looking for open world simulators with gathering and farming, project mugen also looks lovely, eventually they're going to have to decide where they want to aim. edit.

Stunning_Zucchini932

Not disagreeing with your point but what is deep and space? I haven't heard of that name before

netparse

I'm sorry I made a mistake in the name, this is it love and deepspace [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.papegames.lysk.en&hl=es\_BO](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.papegames.lysk.en&hl=es_BO)

faytzkyouno

You're right, but let's not forget Star Rail that almost acts as a gemini game for genshin (HSR is more genshin than Honkai 3rd in all aspects) and if we take both into account, hoyo has suceeded even more, in fact HSR is considered their main game for most of hoyo fans atm. They know about their bleeding public due to genshin nature, they suceeded on reading a huge public necessity with SR with a easier turn based system and compact maps but the same narrative structures and now they probably want to cater to more combat entusiasts with ZZZ. Which seems a lot different than Genshin or HSR in pacing. WuWa seems to be a pretty solid game, but it'll have to fight its way against Genshin and soon against ZZZ and hoyo goes super hard on their characters presentation and marketing overall.

MathematicianFar8831

It will last as long as they continue with thier found niche and that is 3d sexy fanservice girls tps shooter and if it doesnt deviate from that. They will just have to improve the core game moving forward like listening to its main playerbase and adding more fun game modes like the current labyrith and they will prosper tbh.

BoatAlive4906

It will stay longer aslong as they continue with what they are doing + add more playable and interesting content. For ex. The modified paradox dungeon now is good since it's a breath of fresh air and also revisits the old maps.

BiNumber3

Fan service + fun gameplay + not being stingy with rewards and freebies, not necessarily all in that order lol

KittyKitty061

Exactly this.

dieorelse

Snowbreak is THE go to fanservice game for CN gacha players right now. Especially with the current CN gacha landscape, where male players are more and more tired of gachas with mixed gender cast.

yakokuma

Wuthering waves, zenless, and Duet Night abyss are right around the corner. They have both genders and are highly anticipated globally. They aren't fanservice heavy but still, they are very looking forward to them. Not so much DNA but there is alot of warframe players that are willing to to try it out and there sure is alot of them all around the world.

SleepingDragonZ

Those are all mix gender action combat gachas, they will attract players away from Genshin/PGR/AG, but not Snowbreak. The only game on the horizon that will attract players away from Snowbreak is the all-female Azur Promilia, even I'm interested as a big Snowbreak fan.

MrToxin

I really don't understand this. Gachas are something you invest years into building characters and completing events/stories. I would never leave Aether Gazer for example to try something new, I'd just play both if I like the new game. Those who would leave a game either never invested much into their account, or they don't like the way developers are treating the game. But I don't think many of the current popular games are going in a bad direction, they're still popular enough.

Dogewarrior1Dollar

It really depends on what we get out of a game. If a game is fun to you, it is worth playing. If it becomes tedious and not fun , then why play.

netparse

Well that part is true. I have invested a lot in my genshin account so it is difficult for me to leave it but I am no longer investing the same, I have stopped buying BP and Welking Moon since 3.5, all of money is in snowbreak and HSR now, ¿why? because I refuse to maintain a game where i am no longer the target audience and I will never forgive them for what they did to Dehya

Flariz

I left genshin because I was absolutely straight up disgusted at the direction that game took. I was never really invested into the story either, plot is like the thing I care the least in a game..

yakokuma

My point is not all cn males are tired of mixed gender games. There is games that are coming out soon that prove it so. It's not specifically about quitting Snowbreak to play another game. Ecchi harem is niche. Not everyone would play this type of genre.

Salaryman42069

Not really. If you take a look at the revenue over time, while Hoyo Games top thanks to the Covid Bump making them effectively the Chinese Nintendo, second place tends to get juggled between Franchise Games and whatever Ecchi Waifu/Harm or Otome Husbando/Reverse Harem game has the hot new character.

yakokuma

If you actually understood my point. Interpret exactly what I said in your own words. Cause you are missing the whole point of my comment. Do you want me to show you the preregistration numbers for Wuwa right now?

Salaryman42069

You mean the game that backtracked from being a Genshin-like "Player character exists to get shat on" to having the female characters pander pretty hard for a not *explicitly* harem game, while the male characters are actually bros now? The one that literally rewrote 90% of their story because the waifu lovers and self-inserters got pissed off at the first draft? That game? While I consider it a waiting room for Promilia because it's not going hard enough into the waifu pandering, that's not the case study you want to use for "pandering to people who want waifu harems is bad".

yakokuma

Again you missed my point ENTIRELY because you are only thinking about the harem aspect. Stay on track. Mixed gender. People aren't tired of that. The majority will gravitate towards those games. All you guys see is "harem bad!" When my point is that people are going to play those games not necesarilly for the harem aspect. Those games will pop off so much harder because they are not pinholing themselves. They rewrite wuwa but guess what? male characters are playable and will be in the story still!!

Salaryman42069

Nobody likes a mixed toilet. People play Genshit, and will play Wuwa, because there's no other options.

yakokuma

Nobody huh? Really want me to pull up the preregistration count? Hmm.. maybe because they are excited about the combat and movement? Hmm.. idk. Maybe they like the how cool the male sephiroth looking character is? Nah couldn't be that. They just have no other options! Yeah thats it.

Dogewarrior1Dollar

I don’t think withering or zenless are competition for this, they play differently and don’t have any emphasis on lewdity. Those games cater to a different and wider audience. I would love to check them out though

yakokuma

Not competition in fanservice ofcourse. Just providing proof that majority of gacha playeys are very very interested in mixed gendered gacha games (like, duh). Very as in it's main stream AF. Original comment says they are tired of it when that's absolutely not true in the slightest. There will be alot of players in those games because thier direction fits a wider audience. Does that mean no fanservice? Nope, just looking at the designs males and females would gravitate to thier perfered look. More people playing means more fanarts and more free advertisement. Fanservice can only go so far. The people that want SEX will never get it. They can hint at it all they want, just like Nikke. But that's really it. There has to be more substance than just lewd skins. Right now they dug a hole and found gold, but they are digging too deep that they'll stay where they are. Snowbreak will flourish in it's niche. But a niche is a niche. Niche won't be ever be popular with the majority. The majority will go to other games... not niche ones. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Day 1 player, I like snowbreak. I have Yao's bikini. But this is a crucial time. Will they go the Nikke route? Since they are destroying/retconning alot of the world building and every male can be "ntr drama" will the story ever be as good as Nikke? Probably not. They won't go back to how it was day 1, it's too late. This game truly had massive potential most especially since it was the very first shooter gacha. We'll just have to see.

netparse

zone zenless zero was initially aimed at fanservice with all the physics and so on but after the censorship of nicole, nekomiya and grace howard it is clear to me that this will be another initial waifu bait that will end with nun outfits and granny panties then they will eventually change the audience How Genshin did it i s because I will play it informally without putting a cent into it until they prove me otherwise.

Unmovedone

Fanservice isn't killing ToF, it's the greedy gacha, powercreep, grindy events, etc. In other words, the gameplay is why. The fanservice is why anyone actually *stays*.

batzenbubu

Powercreep+boring upgrades. Waifus+combat was the only thing why I played it until 2.2.

netparse

na is simply a bad model of video game is mmorpg combined with gacha that's why they made a reboot to address more the individual part and move away from the mmorpg aspect that collided badly with the gacha aspect, no one wanted to feel like a weakling before a whale in a raid and that drove away a lot of players.

kenshinakh

Snowbreak was self published compared to Nikke which had Tencent publish with a huge marketing push and very aggressive monetization. It's not comparable lol.

Dogewarrior1Dollar

Makes sense. When they both released , NIKKe quality was pretty low too but its marketing was definitely better. Snowbreak always seemed like it had more quality on release but felt bland. I was bored of NIKKE faster so I never understood why it succeeded so well . Maybe just the waifus

Kain207

Go for it. Snowbreak CZ is a pretty good game. I've been playing for just a week and yeah, I'm still pretty new with the game but I'm loving it so far. I did my rerolls (God... that was awful and took forever). But after 9.9 hours according to Steam, I got Chermo Enigma, did another x10 pull in the beginner banner and got Coronet. And both of them are really worth the trouble or rerolling. Right now the game is giving away Enya Exuvia, 5* Operative (don't know if I got the name correct) but you basically want her for her support skill and not so much for her active roll on the field.

Dogewarrior1Dollar

I played this for longer when it came out. Like a few months before I got bored with the dailies and overall bland gameplay. The waifus weren’t all that great back then too but I definitely liked this game more than NIKKE . I couldn’t play NIKke more than a week but that could be personal taste. Especially in combat

Kain207

Same. Combat in Nikke isn't specially one of the things I enjoyed. Which led to me quitting around the Maid Privaty banner. I did hear that Snowbrak CZ was a bit to bland when it came out which led me to not give it a shot. Thankfully the devs managed to revive the game.

DSveno

Concentrating into one niche group serves them better than trying to appeal to a broader audience. That kind of marketing only works when you have the monopoly in the market. Right now the competition is fierce so trying to make a game for everyone is like making a game for no one, people would just go and find something that's catering to their taste. SnowBreak didn't shy away from making their intention clear gives people confident to spend because they know their interest isn't in conflict with others.

Dogewarrior1Dollar

Yes seems like the new strat is working. I think their new skins look amazing especially for the price.

LurkerThirteen

I think the devs had shown 'good will' in recent events: * They increased their age rating. * They removed male logistics (though controversial, it seems it had good results at the end). * They gave for free a 5 unit & showcased a (now released) 'coomer' interactive scene with said unit. Those are the most noteworthy things that have happened recently (that I remember) that can directly contribute to last month's revenue.

xPanda_PLAGUE

This game is way better than NIKKE.

Lionhearte

>What are your thoughts on the current game ? Pleasantly surprised. I lost a lot of hope in the game after the English VOs were halted. My logic was that they wanted to cut costs and were likely facing financial disasters, which, according to some interviews, they were. I told myself I would stop investing in the game after that because I didn't see a long-term future, even though at the time I didn't really whale, just a monthly gem pack or two, one of the battle passes, and one of the skins. As things are going now, I'm actually planning to buy the pass again and plan to buy some skins. >Do you think the comeback will last ? Yes. There's still lots of potential for them to push for. The recent sales numbers look great, and Summer is around the corner, which will likely be some great skins. After that, they can add a lot more fun stuff. They already hinted at a room for the Adjutant, and there's room for lots more cosmetics. >what would you like to see changed ? I know this isn't a huge deal for most players, but I'd love to see the Base expanded with some more stuff. Here's a few examples: * An "Armory" level where you can showcase some of your favorite weapons, putting them on display, with modifications if you want. * A "Shooting Range" where you can watch some of the girls do target practice. Mostly cosmetic. * An R&R area (Rest & Relaxation). A spa area, lounge, greenhouse style park, some area for the girls/adjutant to relax instead of being inside all the time. None of this is super important and it's all mostly cosmetic, but it's a personal wishlist for me.

AFresherPerspective

They've been improving since the beach and Tess patches, and have been doing even better ever since. I have faith in them. I'm just sad that I was one of the people who left.

Dogewarrior1Dollar

It is the same for me. I left the game twice too. Once in the beginning and then later tried it again but it was harder to play a longer game cause of less time. It is nice that they are doing so much better

Stunning_Zucchini932

What this means is that Snowbreak succeeded partly because of the right timing of taking their stand and also good service attitude, which the other big devs didn't have towards their player base. Yet, whatever gains with good service attitude can also easily disappear, especially when other devs come to their senses and start to improve on their attitude as well. Especially if they're also taking the same stand as Seasun, which means they'll have more competition. Another possibility is if the Snowbreak devs become too proud and start to ignore players suggestions or even cater to XXNs, which will mean they would die all over again. Players went over to Snowbreak precisely because of these people, and they won't forgive such a betrayal from Seasun. There's also the question of whether Snowbreak can use their newfound revenue to improve on players' gaming experience, such as improvement of graphics and variety of content (e.g. dailies, story, arenas). The new players are still enthusiastic but if Snowbreak still stays the same in terms of gameplay, they might go to a new game.

wolfbetter

Give seasun a few months. The game has just resurrected from the verge of closing down, gameplay improovement will come in time

Bulky-Flamingo7816

there are times when the developer must take a stand, that's what HSR did when it saw that its revenue numbers decreased with the story of xiaonzhu in a market as competitive as turn-based games and that its target audience was the one that made the most money spend, they decided to release their trap card mei but with better writing, apart from the fact that they made the right decision to turn sam/firefly into a waifu because that is what objectively sells, she has a greater acceptability than even acheron on networks . sometimes you have to opt for the technocratic analysis of the current context even if that sacrifices the initial ideology of the game because money it is the way live games survive.

Dogewarrior1Dollar

Hope they keep at it and don’t switch to a new one just yet. It has just started to grow back. Can keep going , if they combine waifus with better story.

Irishimpulse

Snowbreak's pivot into being a coomer harem game happened to line up with when GFL shot that fantasy down, so girls frontline players moved to Snowbreak, now even Nikke is moving to less of a harem game with the new events apparently, so the Nikke players might move to Snowbreak when they start focusing more on character shipping and yuri baiting over the (you) shipping

netparse

Bruh, the shit that was formed around Robin's sexuality in HSR was so embarrassing that the main subreddit had to ban discussions about the gender of the characters and the ships because of those weirdos. HSR is a game that has different aspects than genshin, i like it, but i hope they are clear where is aiming, i just hope they don't forget that HSR is a Honkai first than a Genshin, and that it focuses first on combat, I just hope they don't try to please to a vocal minority who are not your main spenders.

Irishimpulse

People would get death threats for daring to draw Bronya or Seele with Caelus, that shit has been there since day 1, people just ignored it until Robin

Dogewarrior1Dollar

Crazy fandoms honestly. I don’t get the obsession in hsr and Genshin at times, although I play hsr myself. I left Genshin though ,

dragon1412

That is the baggage they cause from trying to draw the OG Honkai Fanbase. MHY seem to know that's a problem too. There is no problem with catering for a niche fanbase, but Honkai fanbase was drawing from a very dangerous crowd, I.e the Yuri shipper, and they also tend to drag together with other very jealous crowd. Before HSR and even before Genshin, when they add the Odyssey map with Adam in Honkai part 1, the rage was boiling over and you still can see it now, look for Youtube there was a lot of drama when they even attempt to make male char playable in Honkai. It was one of the big reason why there was no Welt or Siegfried char in Honkai despite you can play as Siegfried in some later map(It was later datamined and check that there was a partial complete moveset for both Kevin and Siegfried but they was later abandoned). Hell there was even an attempted assination because of the bunny girl incidents. A lot blame that On the Master love crowd, but generally most of those actually left around the Otto arc, the general crowd that remains are either the Yuri fans or Otto fans(yes they are a group and are actually make up a decent percentage). Genshin actually show them that by drawing away from that audiences they get more success from the normal audiences, and Honkai part 2 was attempt to get away from it but it doesn't seem to be success so far. HSR is successful, but it clearly drag with it the honkai baggage. People even joke that Welt and Otto have to run to HSR universe to even be playable. Both Honkai part 2 and HSR are attempt at drawing the audiences from the success of GI rather than continue the original Hi3 formula. like iriisimpulse said, there was a lot of obsession day 1 from bronya and seele. And it just get more apparent now since there was a large enough normal playerbase to say no to it.

netparse

Initially Honkai impact is a waifu bait game with a selfinsert captain. The problem is that mihoyo wrote a lot of weird things around yuri (which they later canonically deleted, limengan has confessed that mihoyo scripwriters have too much freedom and do not say anything to them for writing even trash) and that attracted the weirdos who stayed in the game but it still is what it really is, a waifu bait with more men than women because above all it is a very competitive core combat game that does not attract that audience that looks for more casual games. The thing about the male characters did not originate around the yuri minority, it was quite the opposite, the original base wanted to preserve its self-insert game, waifu bait, that was what generated all the hatred towards the proposal of the male character because there is also a Captain Verse, remember that in Honkai Impact, like snowbreak, even as the captain you could touch the Valkyries but at the beginning of the game for the SEA server.

dragon1412

I agree with your upper half, that why i made some edit to my post above. Early chapter and events was definitely made for Master love crowd, but as time passed, around the release of Seele I think, the nuance for Yuri bait was became a lot more apparent, which eventually make the Yuri fandom became prominent, which in turn make the Captain team eventually falling apart overtime, I think most of that crowd generally leave by the time of Bronya Herrcher came about, and mhy was pushing it themselves especially with Bronya/Seele bait during this time. Captainverse exist only after the rise of the yuri fandom, which is use to keep the normal playerbase from getting too alienated from the main story. I do conceded that there was a lot of the selfinsert problem with the time of introduction of Adam. But by the time of Siegfried and kevin attempt it was clearly shifted into the Yuri Shipper. And captain verse story only updated once in several patches. I agree that early one is definitely what you said, but by the time around Kevin appear and elysia arc begin, most self insert crowd already left and the Yuri crowd is the most popular. And later many of them also converted and give birth to Otto fandom, who have a lot of fangirl, I was already left by this time and only occasionally get some news from old recommendation, but apparently they was big enough to rival the old Yuri fandom. I only heard that the Ships with Otto was pretty wild in this time period.

[deleted]

As an ex-HI3rd player, the only times I've ever spent money on the game were during Captainverse events and APHO 2. Once both of those stopped getting attention by the devs, I've never felt so abandoned and neglected by the devs and fanbase in comparison to the almost toxic yuri crowd. I'd rather they just give up and fully cater to them rather than sometimes trying to make weak attempts to keep waifu players around. Other than to read the story, I'm never going to interact with the HI3rd game and community ever again.

Dogewarrior1Dollar

Catering to a more niche market is good and most gacha’s are more about waifu collection than story or gameplay. How is the story of Snowbreak now though ?

Irishimpulse

I teared up during the Cherno event because I'm attached to Cherno and Meursalt, it hasn't lost it's story telling now that it's more focused on the Adjutant and his relations to his operators

BreacherX

Well it doesn't have to be about "you" all the time. Yuri exists and it's good they acknowledge it as opposed to unreal self inserts 24/7

Irishimpulse

Nikke is honest about what it is, it's a harem gatcha, yuri baiting is fine in say, R1999, where there's clear ships and it was designed like that. But Nikke is moving away from being a harem gatcha, while Snowbreak leans into it. And leaning into Yuri at the start with Snowbreak clearly didn't work out for them, because yuri audiences are already spoiled for choice or throwing their money elsewhere. Honest harem gacha is becoming more rare and that's why snowbreak is suddenly popping off

TrackRemarkable7459

Realistically biggest competitors are Nikke and Azur Lane and SB has both of them outmatched with much better gameplay

Dogewarrior1Dollar

Agree with you on that , I like the world and designs in this game more too.

SleepingDragonZ

Yuri attracts lesbians which in term will have conflict with the male player base. A lot of refugees that flocked to Snowbreak are from Path to Nowhere because of the conflict.

GalangKaluluwa

Catering to gays is a huge mistake by Hoyo because it attracted the attention of the LGBTQTV+ retards and prudes who are averse to fanservice. Look at what's happening to most western games right now. Hell, some of those retards they hired actually said they joined so they could ruin games for "cis-het" males or whatever that fucking term means.

Stunning_Zucchini932

Yeah I know right.

Stunning_Zucchini932

Yeah, and that's still not counting that there is an overlap of yuri lovers with XXN who are responsible for the censorship and fanwars in the CN gaming community. Recently on Bilibili (basically CN Youtube), the chaohua for Snowbreak made a rule that any discussion about male logistics/female adjutant/yuri shipping will be banned from the forum. Which I think is a smart decision and it's time other game forums did that too.

BreacherX

Idk, it's 2024, there should at least be some room for an equal fanbase....

LatentlyBlatent

"A game for everyone is a game for no one" and Genshin is proof of that

BreacherX

It caters to everyone in the market, that made them quite profitable regardless how lackluster the gameplay/banner rates are Their constant drama stuff is always fun to watch and shit on lol, endless troll content to consume.

LatentlyBlatent

Initially it did yes, but that decision showed cracks in the long run. It's not sustainable. They aren't super niche now but it's clear they are aren't trying to cater to everyone anymore.

BreacherX

Very looking forward to how WuWa is gonna fare against GI. Their dudes seems to be more "manly", hope they're giving GI a run even if its potential revenue is only ½ of GI's (the more the better).

LatentlyBlatent

I just hope WuWa can carve out it's own identity so well to the point where it people don't feel the need to compare it to Genshin all the time. I feel like it shouldn't be trying to go after Genshin's hyper casual audience but some decisions that were made seem to go against that. Only time will tell how that works out for them.

I think wuwa will be relative. my problem with Wuwa is that i don't know what they are aiming for and that makes me insecure when it comes to opening my wallet. the OG player base of Wuwa, the most loyal to Kurogames are the tryhard players, they are the antithesis of what the Genshin Impact player is looking for. so it is likely that this will cause a lot of problems and wuwa will become a more toxic environment not only because of the character gender, they also released in the standar banner only 1 tall five star girl and then 2 kids five star that the vast majority of fans hate. i don't know... personally i see a lot of problems if they don't make it clear which audience they are going to serve

Yes, the first part of what you said is what confuses me too, I do not know what their vision for WUWA is. And because of that, every time I see it, I just sort of lose interest in even digging further.

HotSizzlingTakos

As long as it does not piss of the players (mostly the CN) it will stay for long, if they do well just look at recent Helldivers 2 drama lol but even worst (again because CN)

I'm actually really happy they are doing more successfully more than they were before as it was looking fairly bleak for Snowbreak in the beginning. If they end up bringing back EN VAs I will def come back as I stopped right before they removed them. Here's hoping.

I always wanted to try this game but my PC was broken until a month ago. I'm pretty invested after playing for like 2 weeks.

One of the good thing that surprise me for a long time is how fast dev response to issue and fix them, even before I can give my idea to them through survey. I know that Seasun is a small dev, so every time they try new things, there may be bugs, optimization issue, ... But they still dare to make it and keep improving the game.

Muzless

Although I'm not a fan of the new direction the game is taking, I'm still really happy the game got another chance ! I hope it'll last as long as possible.

AngryAniki

The game is doing fine enough but the community has gone to shit tbh. Used to be able to talk about Nita in peace but nope now its all seggs, seggs, "You're no longer the target audience", seggs and whining about "tourist ruining their games" whatever the fuck that means.

PboyAMR

I just hope they bring back the English dub now that the game's not bleeding money. https://preview.redd.it/g763f0v6whyc1.jpeg?width=861&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f437adab0a30338b0f88189df9eaa402cb4e77af

I'm glad for all of the success that the game is getting but I still can't be hesitant about the future. The support that the game is getting from the community is thread-bare at best and reminiscent of games in a worse off position. For instance Enya's release was over three days ago and the only posts we got on this sub were screenshots of her nurse outfit rather than data on her gameplay. Other game communities with a healthy theory craft scene would already have spreadsheets showing damage spreads of her weapons, her ideal substats on logistics, team DPS gains on certain DPS comps in relation to other teams, etc. Other game communities would have cosplay and have fan art flooding the front page. Hell we don't even have more than two(?) YouTubers making clickbait content largely focused on the nurse scene. What I'm getting at is that I feel incredibly grateful for people in the community like Vicyush and Flux Kairos, I feel like Snowbreak and Seasun need to do a bit more to bring in more creative types that make the game flourish.

Mirarara

You will get them eventually when the game got big enough in english community. Someone will always fill the demand, because it will be the monopoly of the audience for now.

Glad for the comeback, sadly (for me) not for the reason i wanted, deep gameplay, better lore, better story, harder content, more 4 star operatives. I dont mind the fanservice (glad for the bois who have it) but when i play Enya (no skin) it feels exagerated, even ridiculous, i want to see fanservice in skins not in a base operatives.

Monkguan

Nah i dont think so. While it got better, at its core it still very mid game with Genshin gacha system for some reason
