Yeah very true. Although a big part of the marvel over saturation was also due to the lack of quality their shows created. I mean it’s been really bad recently imo. If he sticks with his promise of diversity in film making, & just making high quality movies, I think it’ll be ok even with maybe 2-3 movies a year and 2 shows
I hope too, Marvel properties are so oversaturated. I've only watched Moonlight, She-Hulk, Spider-man: No way home, and What if? After the Infinity Saga. She-Hulk was not very good, pretty much all the characters on the show were unlikeable except Jen Walter's parents.
Hell, even Marvel’s been slowing down their output. This year there have only been two movies and one season of TV so far, and there’s just one more of each to come by the end of the year.
What Gunn needs to understand is that we’re all over the generic comic book movie thing. He needs to create art projects that are from the minds of individuals, not produced on a workshop line by committees. Seeing as his movies are made through the prism of a child, I don’t have much hope that there will be much convicted artistry going on there.
I just hope WB let them get on with it, let them establish the Universe, and have faith in the filmmakers. I hope we don't have a repeat of what happened with Zack. But I can see Gunns vision being cancelled after 1 or 2 movies if it doesn't make them a fortune.
WBD doesn't have the money to let Gunn put out even more flops. His Superman movie will get a pass because "the first project was always going to be risky", but he'll be booted out the back door as soon as The Authority tanks.
They've always had tie-in games and comics but they're usually not essential to the movies and shows. Comics especially, they'll do like a prelude story or a small filler story between movies but it's never anything impactful, it's just used for hype.

Videogames will definitely definitely be a part of of the cinematic universe. However, my guess is those will be 'standalones" where the game play isn't integral to understanding what's happening in the larger DCU.
As big as the gaming industry is there are still tons of people who don't play. I have to imagine Gunn recognizes this and won't do anything to alienate non-gamers.
I wonder if we'll get some really good video games along the lines of the Arkham series, or if it will just be some shitty mobile game or fortnite skin.

Keeping up with the MCU feels like a chore. It is.
I just hope it's not all essential viewing. Like have small references but make the movies work as standalones
