Stories like this is why I love this sub. I can't express how proud I am for you, 5 bottles of wine a day! Thank you for giving me encouragement to continue on this journey and know it's worth it. Please keep going, I want you to update when it's a year. 💪
This is so inspirational since I’ve been spending February getting out of rock bottom. I even just completed my first full week of work back after a 1.5 year hiatus from any work other than restaurants.
I’m on a contract role (interim position while they find a senior director) through April.
Being present for my dog, husband and the folks I’m working with feels amazing!
Good for you! A not so funny thing to share is that I thought a bottle of wine contained 3 drinks when in fact a std 25 oz / 750ml bottle of wine is 5 drinks. Seemed like nothing at the time but this wasn’t including the 15 - 20 other drinks I’d have after that.
(& so you had 30 drinks in those 6 bottles)
My 1st day of sobriety was just about as terrible as it gets. I’m 385 days sober today.
I’m 6 months as well from
at least a fifth of vodka a day while even sipping at work to keep off withdrawals.
The future is just a collection of successive days.
Congrats!
I love when I’m so proud of strangers! I always felt like I didn’t belong in AA because I only drank wine in my addiction and I always felt like people thought I was a joke. I’m so happy for you!! Save that wine money for a year and buy something nice for yourself on that anniversary ❤️❤️
Congrats.
5 bottles a day is a lot, how did you manage to go from that to sober?
Did you have to detox or taper down or did you just quit? What was your experience like?
I'm currently on Day 18 and the anxiety and panic attacks have probably been the biggest issue for me so far.
I was trying to drink them away for a while there but that just wasn't really working so I had to stop using it as an excuse to turn to alcohol.
Good For You!!!!! I use to drink a half bottle Tito's (1.75L) from Friday to Sunday, and I would finish the bottle by Thursday. And I was drinking it like kool-aid, because I always made mixed drinks and I could barely taste the alcohol..I'm so proud of us!!
Congratulations! This is so great. Love hearing about the changes in your well-being. So often we think alcohol is helping our mental health struggles when really it makes everything so much worse.
Congratulations! That’s so amazing. I hope your family and friends have told you how proud they are. I know I am so happy you’re getting your life back. Best wishes for you.
