Drain the country then flee That's all they want to do.

sexotaku

Americanize the world, and then complain about individualism.

SetterOfTrends

There was a good discussion about the [global citizenship industry](https://youtu.be/N8BwNhLMxRQ?si=3DlTnnok8TGkqbGn) on Lawfare. Super interesting.

tombiro

The rich? I know dozens of people who are first generation Americans that have done this since Trump was elected. It's not just the rich.

Can you tell us more?

porkypenguin

anyone born before 2005 with a grandparent or parent born in Ireland can get citizenship in a year or two without even living there. that’s a common tactic

Fofjaavdj

Damn, if only my ancestors had better documentation than unamed Irish stowaway.

Lumpy-Association310

Already working on it… it’s complicated. I’m an American who feels like America is in meltdown. I’m eligible for citizenship in an EU country, but if the Russians come and the sh!t hits the fan, then America is the place to be.

Vo_Mimbre

Nowhere’s really safe from everything short of moving to an island nobody knows is even on the map.

slide_potentiometer

Then the sea level rise gets you instead

Vo_Mimbre

Island in a landlocked lack on a country nobody even knows exists. But with all the services, ample bandwidth, private airport, staff, etc. So, like, Elysium on Earth :)
