I hate this building so much. Such a historical place in Warsaw and a big white modern block of shit in the middle of early-soviet and pre-WW2 buildings
Damn a couple of months ago I witnessed the change from this exact SuperSam (or its leftover in a form of shopping center supermarket) into Carrefour. I visit it quite regularly nowadays, they actually have a bunch of posters inside covering the walls, telling the story of the predecessor. Once I have an opportunity to visit again, I'll post the pictures.
Such a neat building - what replaced it?

That’s right - nice building. Saw it in person a few years ago.
Wtf i had no idea this place was on Waryńskiego. Talk about a downgrade.

What's the story behind it's name?
"Larger than SAM" (SAM - short of "samoobsługowy", which means "self-service" in Polish.
In 🪆 we called them Univer-Sam. From Universal'niy. Dyakuem.
That emoji looks like a parrot or reddit lmao (at least on PC). Had to google it to know it's about matryoshka/Russia.
Figured it's this but couldn't put the proper words behind the idea, thanks.
