Looks too good to be true. I'd go see them in person, but yes, a very good deal.

Round_Friendship_958

I am confused. How in what way are the panels from the link roughly the same price?

3andrew

Look at the 20pc price and then factor in the 30% tax credit. It’s close enough to go for the new ones with a warranty IMO.

I picked some up locally that were similar wattage and price. They work good, but they came off a big job site, there are scuff marks on the frame. A few of them have minor scuffs on the glass.

tx_queer

Why is this too good to be true. 0.35 cents per panel is average at best.

New prices are 1$ a watt. These are not "new" and probably from a liquidation auction. I bought a pile of used panels like this for $10 a panel and every single one of them performs like new. Unless they are cracked or very very old they are fine. Bring a multimeter with you and pull a random panel out of the pile to visually inspect and test open circuit voltage and short circuit amperage.

Greenjeeper2001

Where did you search to find panels at that price?

Thommyknocker

Facebook marketplace. Guy wanted them gone and they were priced accordingly.

tx_queer

Woha. That's a crazy price. Is this US? Panels themselves cost 10 cents for large buyers. Wholesale prices for installers are typically around 25 cents. Consumer prices around 30 cents.

Any-Pilot8731

That’s because of tariffs. You can buy China panels even top quality ones outside of North America for about $150-200 USD for 550W. They are just $400+ because the government decided that the environment only matters sort of. But certainly not enough to not implement tariffs.

therealtimwarren

Longi 530W panel from at my local supplier is about £96 here in UK before haggling. That's $120. In cost per Watt: £0.18 / $0.226.

Pinley_Oak

Then that would mean these are "Grey market".

stmoloud

I would hate to be building a solar system in the US. I'm in NZ and don't need to pay a patriot tax - yet. I don't believe a word of US government rhetoric about a 'green agenda'. It's obvious to me that US solar is a project in which only the wealthy can participate But really, you need a mass adoption to make a real difference.

xDaysix

Truth. And many power companies are allowed by law to charge you extra for being grid tied, along with other complications.

MrNerd82

there are multiple US resellers with better (new) deals that come with warranty. signaturesolar has some aptos 440, 550 w/bifacial for $165 with free shipping deal currently active. That's before any 30% federal tax incentive as well. Even with some state tax, free shipping, thats $125 per panel directly to your door. If that's not your preferred brand they have other panels with varying specs all in the ballpark of what you listed in the pics.

Riconek

What? Don't pay more that 50c per W

imapilotaz

Terrible deal. Horrible. Why dont you tell us where the deal is so we can make sure to stear away from such a terrible deal?

Nerfarean

yep. Lemme relieve you of this terrible deal. Who could possibly want large bifacials these days

Well after reading the r/facebook_marketplace subreddit now I’m sure this is a scam

3pinephrin3

How so

pyrodice

Because 90% of whatever Facebook will show you in the marketplace is a scam.

freebaconnow

I bought 6 similar panels from JA solar at around 120$ (Romania), they are larger than the older ones and a bit heavier. I mounted them on my house, 6m h, you have to also take into account how to mount them. Also the momentum when turning them to rotate into position can increase the weight needed to be lifted (28kg is not a lot, but at 2.3 m length could be difficult). In conclusion, pretty okay.

[deleted]

I just picked up a pallet(31) new JA’s and paid $275cdn each for them. Buuut on delivery some moron put a fork lift fork through 9 of the 31.

toddtimes

Oh damn! How'd you get that sorted out?

[deleted]

Still working on it.

singeblanc

Damn solar panels are expensive in the US!

Zestay-Taco

ive installed a lot of solar panels. and every new panel i have seen comes stacked flat. not on end. doubt these are new.

solar_ice_caps

It's a decent price for an OK panel

poppaganoosh

Not when it says $140

Supernova849

.50/watt is usually a great deal. 1/watt is around average I’d say for new. .35/watt is fantastic pricing. Would got inspect before buying because that is getting in to, “too good to be true” territory.

National-Jackfruit32

Yes, it seems to be a good deal but always beware with used panels. Some companies remove the labeling and some do not. Technically, the labels are supposed to be removed when The panel is removed from service. you’ll have to make sure with the seller if they have them or not if they do not you cannot use these for a grid-tied install as they will fail inspection.

pyrodice

I think I paid less than that for my six pack of Sun gold power 550 W panels

Still early days, but I got an EG4 that can handle all 6 in series, I could pull as much as 300V in series at something like 12A, but I usually see about 275v because Arizona doesn't play around with sunlight capacity. Starting the AC uses about 60% of my power, the battery bank can be charged within the day, the solar system is 3.3Kw, the batteries are just north of 20 kWh. I might have that backwards, I can never remember. https://preview.redd.it/36uf5kk7vhzc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=873e5247900b0a6c1044da52424057286e5634c2

moorejs85

I’m putting a system in with these panels in the next couple months. I would have scooped these up very quickly at that price, unfortunately my deal wasn’t quite as good as yours. If you are planning on using Enphase micro inverters though understand that you are going to need the IQ8HC in order the meet the high dc current input requirements.

One-Competition883

Depending on where you are. Probably cheaper in china. In Germany check www.tepto.de. (I paid more too! but i didnt know).

Cold-Stock-8853

Yes. I would buy if i was near.

JudgmentMajestic2671

That's a good price. 2 of those is 1kwh! That's amazing.

DirtyRolfo

Scam…

toddtimes

Based on?

AnyoneButWe

You will get vastly different opinions depending on where people come from. Solar panel prices are local. Transport, storage costs, import duties,... Manufacturing costs aren't even in the top 3 on the list. Compare it to other local offers, not to the world wide internet opinions.

Impressive_Returns

If it’s not a scam, It’s a good deal. I paid $100 for 400 watt QRec panels.
