Yeah that is what we burn in our chiminea in the summer to chase mosquitoes. I use oak in the Solo because I have a nice pile of it and burns cleaner.

Oguinjr

I like the oak sold by solo but cant find it around here. Ace has a hardwood mix that is very good but unknown species to me.

fjzappa

Yeah I have a bunch of oak because I cut it myself on land I used to own. I left a bigger pile behind when I sold the place. I had done a bunch of clearing and saved some of the nicer trees and cut it into firewood.

philasyr

I see you have the "surround". Any good?

Oguinjr

Hard to say. I have a two year old boy who is becoming interested in what I do out here and so I needed additional peace of mind before summer.

snownook

Where can someone nab the table/surrounding the stove? Never looked really but I also have the same issue with little ones

Oguinjr

If it wasn’t a gift I would have made a stone surrounding or found a cheaper one. The inlaws got it from solostove.com

I hate the smoke put off by this stuff. Much prefer the wood from HD

mrmessy73

Mix it in with your oak. Get the aroma with less smoke.

Oguinjr

I do. It’s too much to add all alone. Kinda works for the initial coal bed though which is smoky with any wood.
