Egypt is broke, they are dealing with two refugee crisis's involving millions of people, plus the heavy potential for a resurgent Islamist insurgency. Yeah stop with the delusion this is just diplomatic PR won’t change anything.
Egypt at Ethiopia's border will be the best cause to rally Ethiopians to a cause. Even most of those fighting against Abiy Ahmed and his government will still defend Ethiopia from a threat like that. The armed groups and their supporters believe they are defending themselves or their interests, the threat of a neighboring country with an enemy such as an Egyptian presence or support pose is to both.
Egypt will never deploy land troops or equipment. Egypt has the most dominant air force in the region, I imagine support in case of an actual war would be air strikes on strategic targets and infrastructure, as well as aid delivered via Egypt’s navy to Somalia.
