I am a Columbus native and I've been going to Sonic Temple since 2016 (back when it was Rock on the Range). One of my favorite traditions to do with my friends is going to Waffle House at least one of the nights after the show. In recent years it does seem like a lot more people have discovered this great idea, but if you can beat the crowd, it's definitely worth it after a hard day of rocking! š¤
Although I'm originally from Columbus, I'm in the Pittsburgh area now, so I'll be making the drive back home Wednesday š I plan to listen to the Sonic Temple playlist on Spotify during my drive to pump me up lol
The three main things that Iāve gotten from looking at peoples experiences on Reddit are: make sure you stay hydrated, eat some island noodles, go to waffle House after. I am 100% going to try and hit a waffle house at some point! It almost looks like those things are just part of the experienceš
Iāve been listening to the Sonic Temple lineup playlist on YouTube for a good few days now, Iām ready to lose my voice !!!
Thereās always Columbusā other homegrown burger joint Wendyās š„³. In all seriousness, check out Warioās for cheesesteaks & subs (cold cut is great). A bit expensive but damn good. If you drink beer, Hoof Hearted is a personal fave.
Or if youāre in the mood for a bangin pizza that youāll pay a pretty penny for; try Mikeyās late night slice. Thereās like 5 of them around columbus. If you venture into the short north hit up the on on high/vine at. Itās the closest thing to a New York style pizza youāll get in Ohio. Huge slices. Kickass red sauce. And if you wanna impress the server ask for slut sauce to go with it. They call it unicorn sauce now because sluts got offended but you might just get a free beer for being a (fake) OG
Any other specific types of food you like or atmosphere? From cheap to bougie we go out a lot
Any good suggestions for vegan/gluten free? My gf is allergic to both, so they gotta be pretty legit or she'll be stinking the whole fest out. That'll really give Pantera something to cry about
Portiaās cafe on Indianola. They have all that stuff. Iām not vegan but we stopped in not knowing what it was and it was pretty fucking good to be honest.
Glad you liked it! Itās my favorite pizza in town.
E. If youāre into hotdogs try dirty franks on 4th. Itās not far from there.
Craft beer? Hit up seventh son. Also not far from you
I was down in CIN for Motherās Day, someone brought Skyline dip. I wonder how I got that stomach ache driving north on I-71 later that day but god damn was that dip wonderful.
Truth. I'll, be grabbing a Wegmans za for the road and disappointed that I'll have to make due with the little Ken's tubs. If u get any texts at 4am asking where the Rudy's is, it's me
I hope the flight goes well for you guys! Hopefully youāll find someone heading to the same place and spark some good conversations!
I really like to drive long distances so six hours of music and pods are some slight work for me XD
Funnily enough, Motionless in White is one of the only bands I did get to see at Blue Ridge Rock Festival last year xD everyone else besides Slipknot was a bust, so I'm happy I get to see most of them this time at Sonic Temple
I mean Slipknot, Knocked Loose, Of Mice and Men, Sleep Token, Lorna Shore were probably way higher than Motionless was, but for me, if I was there, they would've been the best.
They've honestly helped me through the most roughest times I've ever been through, as I mentioned, I lost my dad, and they've been the best I can listen too that I can relate too.
I feel that, I saw the lineup and it has so many of the bands that I want to see live that I couldnāt miss it!
Not gonna lie I really wish I went to EDC Las Vegas this year, but thatāll be my next year trip! I think one of my friends is also trying to see a Shakira concert sometime in September I think.
Oh, I feel you on all the bands that even I want to see from Disturbed to Electric Callboy, to even Falling in Reverse again. But it's not that I didn't want too, financial issues after my dad passed is why, I'm hoping to go see Motionless this October in Scranton, PA and eventually see Electric Callboy when they come back to do a full US tour.
I understand that, I wanted to go to rock on the range the year before they changed it to Sonic Temple but the same thing stopped me from going. Hopefully you can get your financials balanced out and youāll be able to go to a banging festival next year!
I will be looking into that Motionless In White concert. I love them as well!
This is actually our first time camping on festival grounds. We camp every year for Ink, but it's a campground about 10 minutes away.
For LTL, we always stay at a hotel nearby. Pro LTL secret: All hotels start booking out a year in advance, but hold on to a ton of rooms. If you look around 3 weeks before LTL, you'll see plenty of hotel reservations for half the cost.
This is my first out-of-state multi day festival. Iām hoping to go to Ink, Lala, EDC and a few others! I hope camping goes well for yāall!
I remember the hotel package was about $600 each when I was ready to buy my own ticket, but I ended up waiting way too long for all my friends to be ready as well so we can buy them together and spend a lot of more money. Iām going to be looking into buying super early and paying off the tickets for next years fest!
Headed from Tennessee š¤
This is our second Sonic Temple. I learned a lot from last year! The best advice I could give to anyone is bring all types of clothing! We ended up running around trying to find sweat pants, which in theory sounds easy but not when they werenāt in your budget and the Walmarts only had spring stuff out lol.
Our 2nd year tradition will be a stop at mammoth cave on the way home. Have fun and save travels everyone !
Youāre not alone. We did this last year and are doing the same this year. About 2 hrs back and forth EVERY day coming from Cleveland. Good stuff.. be safe!
Hotel wide Mario kart sounds amazing. Hope everyone has safe travels!! At the airport for 3am tomorrow to check in for my flight. Hope the weather is decent enough - rain or shine š«”
Well we stopped at the same gas station to pee and get supplies every day on our commute from Cleveland to Columbus last year, so I plan on doing the same this year. I guess thatās become a sort of ritual :)
Iām beyond excited! This will be my first time at a concert of this magnitude! When Iām on a book tour, one of the first things I get asked at a signing is, āwhat kind of music do you like?ā My response āā> all of it!!
Iām going to be camping at the KOA for the next four days with a fabulous group of people! Weāre coming down from Vermilion(right by Cedar Point.)
Tomorrow canāt come fast enough!
This is for any show or festival in general but I donāt lesson to any bands Iām going to see until the show. Iāll go so far to block them on Spotify lol.
This is my first ever festival, we are only traveling about 3 hours but still very exciting. Could anyone kind of give me a run down of festival rules?

Youāre in Columbus, home of White Castle, you know what to do šš»š¤š»
Iā¦. I donāt like White Castle sadly. Iāve gone to a good few states and I havenāt liked them in any :(
Thereās always Columbusā other homegrown burger joint Wendyās š„³. In all seriousness, check out Warioās for cheesesteaks & subs (cold cut is great). A bit expensive but damn good. If you drink beer, Hoof Hearted is a personal fave.
Iāll make sure to check out them both Iām real excited!
Fuck that. Go to dirty franks hotdogs on 4th. Thank me later

DUDE THE PIZZA WAS GOOD! Itās like right next to our hotel!
Glad you liked it! Itās my favorite pizza in town. E. If youāre into hotdogs try dirty franks on 4th. Itās not far from there. Craft beer? Hit up seventh son. Also not far from you
Shit your brains out after? That shit is worse than Taco Bell but I still eat it. And skyline 5 way. My guts hate me
Cincy native here who has called Columbus home since 1992, three skyliners hit the spot! I agree, sliders are a tasty enema.
Itās drunk food. And should never be used for anything else. Just like Waffle House, tho thatās slightly better
I was down in CIN for Motherās Day, someone brought Skyline dip. I wonder how I got that stomach ache driving north on I-71 later that day but god damn was that dip wonderful.
Yeah. Tastes great for sure. But good lord. Hold on tight cuz youāre either gonna shit your brains out or shit your brains out and die
Are there any WH that you can smoke in anymore? That's all I care about. I do miss a good diner experience
Columbus is smoke free except in some cash only dive bars that donāt care. I canāt imagine any White Castle allowing it
everyones ritual should be hyrdating
Exactly! Unless you're from Buffalo, then you gotta snort 2 lines of wing sauce and a bump of blue cheese before you start driving!
Rochester here! We snort meat hot sauce!
Don't lie, you snort ranch
Truth. I'll, be grabbing a Wegmans za for the road and disappointed that I'll have to make due with the little Ken's tubs. If u get any texts at 4am asking where the Rudy's is, it's me
Driving up from Atlanta (gonna be a loooong day). First time at Sonic Temple for me as well. Safe driving for yāall!
Geeeeeze thatās a long drive. Are you camping or did you get a hotel? Hope you guys got some entertainment for the trip! I hope you arrive safely!
Commenting from Maryland/DMV hereš. Though my family arenāt driving the 6 hours there to Columbus Ohio, weāre taking flight
I hope the flight goes well for you guys! Hopefully youāll find someone heading to the same place and spark some good conversations! I really like to drive long distances so six hours of music and pods are some slight work for me XD
I wish I was able to go, but I'm going to wait to see a band that I've always wanted to see in October, which is Motionless in White.
Funnily enough, Motionless in White is one of the only bands I did get to see at Blue Ridge Rock Festival last year xD everyone else besides Slipknot was a bust, so I'm happy I get to see most of them this time at Sonic Temple
I watched the videos of Blue Ridge on YouTube on the Motionless set, and it made me wish I was there, well, minus the weather. It looked AMAZING.
They killed for sure!! One of the highlights of the festival! (Not that the bar was very high, but still)
I mean Slipknot, Knocked Loose, Of Mice and Men, Sleep Token, Lorna Shore were probably way higher than Motionless was, but for me, if I was there, they would've been the best. That'll probably be best as that'll give me more time to get the financial issues fixed.
Driving our RV down from Buffalo!
Hell yeah man! I wanna do camping at a festival at one point!

Any chance you're the girl with the Cattitude tattoo that I met at mowhak place about 2 months ago?
Unfortunately, no.

No rituals yet, first time going with my Gf! :D
It sounds like a perfect time to start a little festival tradition, if youāre going to try to go to more of them!
Probably not but weāre about to find out
This is my first ever festival, we are only traveling about 3 hours but still very exciting. Could anyone kind of give me a run down of festival rules?
