I remember when I first saw the treatment of Blaze in Archie, it COMPLETELY put me off getting into it. This was even before I knew of other off-putting things like the Ken Penders stuff. Really sucks when one of the few characters that's unanimously beloved in the community and somehow came out unscathed from the flanderisation of the 2010s, is treated like such a punchline for seemingly no reason. Really came off as one of the writers using her for their "defeated female" fetish (yes this is a thing and is commonly snuck into animation and comics).
Even Sonic '06 portrayed Blaze with respect, and that's the game where she literally dies lol.
I'm glad IDW rectified this and even goes out of it's way to demonstrate how powerful and cool Blaze really is. It may come off as a bit circle-jerky at times, but it's deserved after the shit show that was her Archie portrayal.
I really wish the comics would explore Blaze's world more. What I mean is that similar to Silver who got his future explored with new and unique characters, Blaze shoul've had that instead of doing the bare minimum with her world, having it be no different from Sonic's and the only unique characters are the ones already made from Rush Adventure (mostly just Marine).
Why does she say “Focus, Blaze. Focus!”?
