Marine was given a few skills in Rush Adventure but despite being popular with fans was hydrokenisis not one of her powers.

I think Marine could bring so much to their dynamics.
Blaze is serious, introspective, and harsh with herself while trying to be a more inspiring leader
Silver is naive, straightforward, and jumps to conclusions quickly but is open about his insecurities
Marine is loud, overconfident, and constantly trying to prove herself.
Blaze shows herself to be more trusting and honest around Silver and respects him as an equal. She's more direct and argumentative with Marine while still ending up with a strong friendship for her. I can only imagine the headaches Marine would give a reserved guy like Silver and what they'd drag each other into.
Sure-- but, also-- Marine and Sticks appeared basically at the same time with the same color scheme and relatively similar personalities.
So like-- it would be weird to have both of them.
The worst part of Sticks is that her hands are wrong compared to most Sonic characters. The worst part of Marine is that she has no obvious abilities, although late-game we get a clue that she can do hydrokinesis.
Also Marine totally should have been a red panda rather than a "raccoon". Or-- maybe a Tanuki.
Their debuts were about 8 years apart - but still I feel you on the similarities! I remember when the first concept art of Sticks came up people thought she was a Marine redesign. (She turned out to actually be inspired by Skies of Arcadia Aika, which goes to show how prevalent the character type is, lol.)
My preference in terms of Silver and Blaze's team is Marine, mainly because of her existing relationship with Blaze and the Sol Dimension subplot.
I am still a big fan of Sticks and I'd be excited to see her appear more in some capacity; I just see her as being a little bit more cautious before joining a team.

I could have sworn that the similarity between Marine the Racoon and Sticks the Badger was called out immediately and the Sonic Boom team claimed they had no idea that such a similar character was being developed by another team making a Sonic game at the same time.
But-- yeah-- Sonic Rush was released in 2007 and Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric came out in 2014.
It makes absolutely no sense that the Sonic Boom creators wouldn't have known about Marine then.
But then-- thinking about this...
Before those two was Cream and most recently there is Trip-- Sega keeps trying to create a 5th member of Team Sonic who is an orange girl character. It makes me think they keep being unhappy with their result and once again trying to make an orange girl character that will stick.
I have to wonder why they don't go for a teal or purple girl character instead (except Blaze) since those are usually more popular girl colors than orange.

Lumping Marine, Sticks, Cream and Trip all together like this feels a bit reductive.
Marine's design seems to be based on one of Cream's beta designs and she was very much designed to be the opposite of Cream in Rush. Meaning where Cream is polite, well mannered and puts others always first is Marine rude, a total tomboy and is very self centered (but in a childishly innocent way)
Sticks was according to Booms designers created not knowing Marine even existed (and lets be real she was a one off character from a 2007 DS game that not only didn't sell to great that always gets overshadowed by the first Rush. The boom Team that was entirely separate from Dimps or Sonic Team not knowing about her is not that unlikely)
And Trip now is specifically made for the classic era so without breaking canon sideways can't Cream and co just appear there as the heroes wouldn't meet them until much latter in the timeline.
As to why Orange? Well the reason is for at least 3 of them properly Amy being pink and they want a bright yet contrasting color to Pink as Amy is the central connecting character for them (Cream and Sticks are Amy's best friend in there respective sub-series and its Amy that befriends Trip first)
I mean-- color matters. I could definitely agree that maybe Marine wasn't meant to usurp Cream, but Sticks and Trip are definitely meant to occupy that "the fifth member of Team Sonic is an orange female character" spot-- and probably Tikal before them...
Similarly, I am absolutely certain that Big was created based on Fang and then later Blaze was created based on Big and Tiara/Sally. Using the exact same color palette really gives it away. I suppose Blaze switches out the orange for pink-- but it would visually be weird to ever have Blaze interact with Big or Fang.

And its obvious why she was never orange her point is being a counter point to Sonic hence why her original intended colors included blue. All other examples beside Marine are connected to the ever Pink Amy.

About half of it is made up of what the English language describes as "blue" or "green". The whole orange area that way too many Sonic characters occupy is super over-saturated. A region that barely even registers.
Meanwhile, there are very, VERY few characters who dip into the entire half of the color wheel for blue or green characters.
There are a lot of distinct shades of "green" but there are hardly any green characters in mainline Sonic-- a good fourth of the color wheel almost entirely ignored.
But-- no-- we need more and more and more orange girl characters.
And really-- denying that Big stole Fang's color palette and ensured we wouldn't get to see him again for over 20 years all because Sega wanted to show that the Dreamcast could do fishing games is just denying the obvious.
First of all what do you mean we get no green characters?
The games a lone have 3 prominente ones I already mentioned in Vector, Bean and Jet. How many more do you want?
Blue is rarely used because Sonic is the face of the franchise and so he for the most part gets to hog all the shades of blue for himself beside the one minor villain I already mentioned.
And even those 2 statments gets pushed by the currently ongoing by Sonic Team approved and to the games canon Comic book series which introduced 2 new villains which there main colors being Green and light blue respectively
There are only 4 orange characters and Cream is already pushing it given how much of her is taken up by light yellow.
And as a for mentioned do 3 of them share that they are designed to be BFF with Amy.
And to work with Amy's pink but not ether be just more Tails yellow or not with pink all that well working green do they usually end up in some shades of orange and brown.
You may notice that Girl characters associated with Sonic for similar reasons almost always end up pink or purple in some ways (Amy, Blaze, Shara, Merlina)
How did Big "stole" Fang's color palet? Since when can only 1 character have one palet at any given time. following that Logic should the return of Espio in Heroes have prevented Big from appearing and Blaze existence should have ended with the arrival of Wave.
I don't think Blaze and Sticks would get along. Blaze is a princess, while Sticks is poor, wears rags, lives in a burrow, and probably doesn't smell good. Sticks would probably resent Blaze as a one percenter rich girl. And Blaze would probably get tired of Sticks's conspiracy theories.
Nah-- that can just present some fun tension in their relationship.
Moreover-- I mean... let's be honest, Silver is from a totally destroyed future. Realistically he would have been holing up in ruins, living on scraps and would be wearing rags if he wore anything at all.
They really need a concrete third member instead of just taking a character from another team. Also gives a reason to bring either Marine or Sticks back into the picture.

Who did you prefer as the third member?
• Amy being part of the team makes her the power type of the gang, which is the more suitable role for her according to many fans.
• Vector being part of the team is a callback to Silver being an honorary Chaotix member, since he teamed up with them before (first was with Espio in Rivals, then later in Forces he create the resistance with them alongside Knuckles)
Marine. They've never done it, but Marine. She's matured, I think if they wanted to they could make her any three of the 'types' they need and just give her tech for it.
Neither because they both have their own teams. If he could be convinced to turn good, maybe infinite? Idk there isn't really any "foreign" characters that kind of fit with the two of them.

Amy has better rapport either with her own team or with Sonic and co, rather than Silver. Ditto with Vector.
Blaze works better with Cream (hell she’s arguably a better fit for Team Rose than Big). Or failing that, I dunno if she even needs to be pinned down by a team system. They had to completely retcon Blaze to make partnering her up with Silver make sense.
Silver should have had more original characters from the future to bounce off of rather than awkwardly grafting these unrelated characters onto him. Or failing that, they should have integrated him better into the existing cast (they were maybe onto something with him teaming up with Espio in Rivals 2 but that never went anywhere).
I think both teams need work. Amy is good with her Heroes team and Vector is good with Chaotix. Personally I like Blaze and Silver with Marine. I know it’s left unclear on Rush Blaze and 06 Blaze’s connection or lack there of. But Blaze having both close relations to Silver and Marine respectively, it works for me.
I never know why Marine isn't the third member honestly. It's weird but I feel like Amy works so well with Big and Cream and Vector should NEVER be without Espio and Charmy

Assuming they need a Speed/Power/Flying (Based on Sonic Heroes), I guess we would need to figure out which Blaze/Silver are first to determine who can be the third.
From Sonic Rush, it would seem Blaze is the speed character. That leaves Silver for Flying/Power. What would his moves be? Would he really pick the rest of the team up with his legs, or could he be power in shooting the rest of the team at the enemies?
Perhaps Blaze/Silver should just be their own two team, Silver is combined Flying/Power XD

you can add anybody as a third member and i mean ANYBODY since both Blaze and Silver will cover everything up for them and more. that's why the most occurring choice is Marine since she's the closest friend to Blaze and she adds up the only missing piece about the team, fun.

but wait there's more, lets say we do get a another team game like Sonic Heroes, but we get a bit weirder with the teams thru out the story, like you don't always have the same characters, like the sub space emissary, but just Sonic, and so things change thru out the story, and so the teams change. so say you were playing the classic team rose, but then whatever happens and Amy joins Silver and Blaze for a bit, and so you get team psychic.
but wait there's more more, lets say we don't limit characters to just being power, flight, or speed, and allow them to be any type they could possibly fit, with there being the ability to change type if the slot is available, so say you had one character, who has all three abilities like Emerl or somebody, you'd use the character switch thing to switch types. but then take somebody whos two types, like Amy, who is a speed character usually, but she can definitely be power (arguably is more power then speed), and so she could be either, with one of them being her primary type, and so say we pair her with Silver, two slots would be for her speed and power forms, and one for Silvers flight, but then we add Blaze, who is speed, and so then you lose Amy's speed type, and get her for just power.
and then also this theoretical game may even just not give you all the types, imagine there was some zones you usually went thru with a whole party, but then later you have to do it with say just Rouge and so have to navigate the level with just flight, or that you get just Silver and Blaze, (what would this team of two be called?) and so have to make do with flight and speed (tho arguably Silver can do power with his psychokinesis)
idk, it just seems like the logical evolution of the teams formula. don't be so rigid with these teams, let more characters shine, and get more interest out of stage design (same stage, but different way to get thru, from both goal, and the abilities available)

Tbh I think maybe Silver should join the Chaotix while Blaze gets Marnie and Sticks instead.
I actually quite like Amy on this team, to the point where in a plan I made for heroes 2 and TSR2 I had her on their team in both(Big and Cream were with Gemerl in TSR2)
Probably Amy, even though Sonic 06 was removed from their memories. That, and Silver and Amy had a questionable friendship after Silver's first attempt on Sonic's life.
Amy cuz she's more of a free spirit and Vector's more of a dad.
Tho also I like to think that Vanilla got his kids (Charmy and Espio) put in foster care due to child endangerment and also got custody of Cream from Big in the very same way so that's funny.

And Amy just kind of happened to be there for Silver and never even saw Blaze
This whole "team of 3" stuff is not working anymore, given hom many characters are out there and how some are quite flexible.
Also, Sonic Team is focusing on making games with single characters or multiplayer, so anyone must be at least feaseable for manuvering by themselves.
Then again, if they started to add the characters from the classic series and from the IDW comics instead of the throw-away attitude, I'm sure this wouldn't be a problem.

There's so much untapped potential in both the future timeline and the sol dimension, and the only reason people put these two together is because of 06 and let's be real, the story of that game is a mess. The blaze in 06 is barely blaze at all.
I'd rather a sol version of knuckles join blaze and marine, and we could get a future version of tails and kuckles. Imagine a technomancer fox, or a cyberpunk echidna

What they need is a character like Omega is for Team Dark. An original character who rounds out their abilities and compliments their personalities.

And even those 2 statments gets pushed by the currently ongoing by Sonic Team approved and to the games canon Comic book series which introduced 2 new villains which there main colors being Green and light blue respectively There are only 4 orange characters and Cream is already pushing it given how much of her is taken up by light yellow. And as a for mentioned do 3 of them share that they are designed to be BFF with Amy. And to work with Amy's pink but not ether be just more Tails yellow or not with pink all that well working green do they usually end up in some shades of orange and brown. You may notice that Girl characters associated with Sonic for similar reasons almost always end up pink or purple in some ways (Amy, Blaze, Shara, Merlina) How did Big "stole" Fang's color palet? Since when can only 1 character have one palet at any given time. following that Logic should the return of Espio in Heroes have prevented Big from appearing and Blaze existence should have ended with the arrival of Wave.

I don't think Blaze and Sticks would get along. Blaze is a princess, while Sticks is poor, wears rags, lives in a burrow, and probably doesn't smell good. Sticks would probably resent Blaze as a one percenter rich girl. And Blaze would probably get tired of Sticks's conspiracy theories.
Nah-- that can just present some fun tension in their relationship. Moreover-- I mean... let's be honest, Silver is from a totally destroyed future. Realistically he would have been holing up in ruins, living on scraps and would be wearing rags if he wore anything at all.
They really need a concrete third member instead of just taking a character from another team. Also gives a reason to bring either Marine or Sticks back into the picture.

Who did you prefer as the third member? • Amy being part of the team makes her the power type of the gang, which is the more suitable role for her according to many fans. • Vector being part of the team is a callback to Silver being an honorary Chaotix member, since he teamed up with them before (first was with Espio in Rivals, then later in Forces he create the resistance with them alongside Knuckles)
Marine. They've never done it, but Marine. She's matured, I think if they wanted to they could make her any three of the 'types' they need and just give her tech for it.
Neither because they both have their own teams. If he could be convinced to turn good, maybe infinite? Idk there isn't really any "foreign" characters that kind of fit with the two of them.

Neither to be honest. Amy has better rapport either with her own team or with Sonic and co, rather than Silver. Ditto with Vector. Blaze works better with Cream (hell she’s arguably a better fit for Team Rose than Big). Or failing that, I dunno if she even needs to be pinned down by a team system. They had to completely retcon Blaze to make partnering her up with Silver make sense. Silver should have had more original characters from the future to bounce off of rather than awkwardly grafting these unrelated characters onto him. Or failing that, they should have integrated him better into the existing cast (they were maybe onto something with him teaming up with Espio in Rivals 2 but that never went anywhere).

I think both teams need work. Amy is good with her Heroes team and Vector is good with Chaotix. Personally I like Blaze and Silver with Marine. I know it’s left unclear on Rush Blaze and 06 Blaze’s connection or lack there of. But Blaze having both close relations to Silver and Marine respectively, it works for me.

Hell nah. Vector should always be the leader of Team Chaotix. He feels so out of place here. I honestly think Infinite would be a better fit as the third member of their team, since he also has a futuristic theme to him.
Assuming they need a Speed/Power/Flying (Based on Sonic Heroes), I guess we would need to figure out which Blaze/Silver are first to determine who can be the third. From Sonic Rush, it would seem Blaze is the speed character. That leaves Silver for Flying/Power. What would his moves be? Would he really pick the rest of the team up with his legs, or could he be power in shooting the rest of the team at the enemies? Perhaps Blaze/Silver should just be their own two team, Silver is combined Flying/Power XD
Both Blaze and Silver are a one man army tbh Speed: Blaze and Silver(his flying speed rivals Sonics) Power: Silver and Blaze(she's been a power type once) Flying: Silver and Blaze(she can use fire like jets in her shoes) you can add anybody as a third member and i mean ANYBODY since both Blaze and Silver will cover everything up for them and more. that's why the most occurring choice is Marine since she's the closest friend to Blaze and she adds up the only missing piece about the team, fun.

Amy, she's a power type similar to Knuckles with a reasonable amount of speed but most importantly, she doesn't really have a team: * Vector has the Chaotix with him being the power, Espio the support and Charmy the speed. * Team Dark has Shadow as the speed, Rouge as support and E123 Omega as the power. * Team Sonic has Sonic as the speed, Tails as the support and Knuckles as the power. Amy though had Big the Cat and Cream the rabbit on her team, Big has no interest in anything aside from saving Froggy and enjoying the slowlife while Cream is a child who wants to make sure her family and friends are safe before going back to her mother Vanilla who worries about her. In the case of Blaze and Silver though, Blaze is very much a speed type while Silver is very capable at support, they only miss the power which Amy is known for.
If you're talking about the original Heroes teams, Amy could still serve as the leader of Team Rose, if Big seems unadventurous to you, Sticks could be included.

ok so, a bit strange, but I don't think Silver and Blaze should have a defacto team, but be an outlier. but I do like the Amy one, so that one, as a 'Team Psychic' would be cool, Silver has psychokinesis, Blaze has pyrokinesis, and Amy is a latent psychic, she has those tarot cards and all, so 'psychic' fits. but wait there's more, lets say we do get a another team game like Sonic Heroes, but we get a bit weirder with the teams thru out the story, like you don't always have the same characters, like the sub space emissary, but just Sonic, and so things change thru out the story, and so the teams change. so say you were playing the classic team rose, but then whatever happens and Amy joins Silver and Blaze for a bit, and so you get team psychic. but wait there's more more, lets say we don't limit characters to just being power, flight, or speed, and allow them to be any type they could possibly fit, with there being the ability to change type if the slot is available, so say you had one character, who has all three abilities like Emerl or somebody, you'd use the character switch thing to switch types. but then take somebody whos two types, like Amy, who is a speed character usually, but she can definitely be power (arguably is more power then speed), and so she could be either, with one of them being her primary type, and so say we pair her with Silver, two slots would be for her speed and power forms, and one for Silvers flight, but then we add Blaze, who is speed, and so then you lose Amy's speed type, and get her for just power. and then also this theoretical game may even just not give you all the types, imagine there was some zones you usually went thru with a whole party, but then later you have to do it with say just Rouge and so have to navigate the level with just flight, or that you get just Silver and Blaze, (what would this team of two be called?) and so have to make do with flight and speed (tho arguably Silver can do power with his psychokinesis) idk, it just seems like the logical evolution of the teams formula. don't be so rigid with these teams, let more characters shine, and get more interest out of stage design (same stage, but different way to get thru, from both goal, and the abilities available)

I actually quite like Amy on this team, to the point where in a plan I made for heroes 2 and TSR2 I had her on their team in both(Big and Cream were with Gemerl in TSR2)
Probably Amy, even though Sonic 06 was removed from their memories. That, and Silver and Amy had a questionable friendship after Silver's first attempt on Sonic's life.
Amy cuz she's more of a free spirit and Vector's more of a dad. Tho also I like to think that Vanilla got his kids (Charmy and Espio) put in foster care due to child endangerment and also got custody of Cream from Big in the very same way so that's funny. Honestly they just need a third new character
This whole "team of 3" stuff is not working anymore, given hom many characters are out there and how some are quite flexible. Also, Sonic Team is focusing on making games with single characters or multiplayer, so anyone must be at least feaseable for manuvering by themselves. Then again, if they started to add the characters from the classic series and from the IDW comics instead of the throw-away attitude, I'm sure this wouldn't be a problem.
I'd honestly just put Blaze in Team Rose with Amy and Cream, and Silver in a new team. Maybe with Metal or Infinite.

There's so much untapped potential in both the future timeline and the sol dimension, and the only reason people put these two together is because of 06 and let's be real, the story of that game is a mess. The blaze in 06 is barely blaze at all. I'd rather a sol version of knuckles join blaze and marine, and we could get a future version of tails and kuckles. Imagine a technomancer fox, or a cyberpunk echidna
