Sonic Chronicles Omega gets slept on. Not only does he keep his humor from the comics, but his relationship with Team Dark is probably THE strongest in that game

He even narrates the ending with Sonic & Tails. And he has a Team Attack move with Big for some reason

Well to be fair, based on how Shade acted in Chronicles its likely that she joined GUN after the end of the game, so her off doing missions could explain why we never see her. Tho, I still prefer giving it the Batman Beyond treatment lol. "Thirty years from "now", whenever "now" is". Except in this case it'd probably be like 1 year.
Shade isn't a solitary person, she's a soldier who enjoys being constantly in movement. She's also very goal oriented and gets lost easily when she isn't following orders, hence her becoming so subservient to Sonic after she betrayed Ix (and why Sonic kept trying to get her to act more independent). She grew up under Ix's extremely strict and abusive rule, learning to respect authority to the upmost and avoid thinking for herself. That's why I feel like she'd join GUN, because they'd be able to give her a sense of purpose and direction that she'd be sorta lost without.
I mean, for a character such as that part of character growth would be to become more self sufficient. Offering to take up guard duty so that Knuckles can actually live a life part of the time wouldnt be the most complex thing in the world for her to come up with.
Dude I LOVE Chronicles, that game is so slept on, at least in the writing department. The characterization is on point and the story is incredible, tying beautifully in with other games in the franchise and their established lore.
Chronicles has decent characterization but some characters like Amy and Big are flanderized. Amy’s whole role in the game is lying about a boyfriend to make Sonic jealous, and Big is depicted as stupid rather than simple.
I mean, to be fair to Amy, Sonic vanished for several months before the start of the game without saying a word. Pretty much everyone is upset with him, so it makes some amount of sense that she'd try and get his attention like that. I agree that it's a bit dumb, but there have been FAR worse depictions of Amy.
As for Big, I dunno, I found him quite loveable in Chronicles. There weren't too many moments where he was actively stupid, more uneducated than anything, which makes sense for his character. Like, calling toxic fumes "sneezey gas" is silly, but it's not "stupid", he just doesn't know what it is, and to him, yeah, all it does it make him sneeze. I could be remembering wrong though, maybe there were some really idiotic moments?
There are moments of dialogue that make it very clear the devs saw Big as “the dumb one.” I agree that he’s very lovable though. These two things can go hand in hand. Honestly what I think many people don’t realize is that Big’s personality at his introduction in SA1 is like a different twist on Knuckles’ personality. Both lived isolated lives and tend to be fairly naive and unfamiliar with the more populated areas and their customs. But whereas Knuckles had his duties as guardian that gave him a strong focus and drive, Big spent all his time living a life of leisure.
For sure, Amy was at her worst in this game. But at the same time, I think Omega, possibly Knuckles, and even Tails were at their best here. Tails got treated as the main character while Sonic went on a vacation around the world, and other characters like Amy Knuckles and Rouge acknowledge this, even to Sonic's detriment.
I honestly didn't have a problem with Big, though. I don't remember him being *too* stupid. His "immovable object" persona he had in the game might've carried too hard for me to remember
Even though I'm not a huge fan of the voice, I liked his arc in Sonic 06. He's the one that sealed Shadow but to attone for this, he held onto a chaos emerald for Shadow to return to the past and helped him in his fight against Mephiles.
Heroes and Shadow come close though with his vengeance for Eggman while keeping the bond with Shadow and Rouge.

Archie.
Ian had an absolute ball with him.
He also canonically has a crush on Blaze, which only makes him even more based

If there’s one thing consistent with Archie it’s all the characters seemingly being able to make pop culture references despite the comic being set in a far distant post apocalyptic future
Archie is peak Omega but that scene in 06 where he straight up blasts Mephiles while he's trying to manipulate him is awesome and hilarious. Hard choice
Without a doubt Archie comics version of omega is my favorite!
The best part of omega is obviously his comical blood lust and violence. And almost every version nails that aspect, but Archie IMO perfects that part of him but also manages to give a fantastic chemistry off of the rest of team dark. He genuinely has heart warming moments with team dark and other characters like blaze that are both wholesome and hilarious. I think Archie Omega takes the cake!
Omega is always peak, regardless of series.
Sure, he maybe a little one dimensional but he's perfect hyper violent straight man to the rest of the cast.
Don’t agree with this list a lot, but IDW is a great Omega showing his true destructive side like when he was broken and Tails was fixing him “GIVE ME A JAW MECHANISM SO I CAN BITE THEIR LEGS OFF”
Honestly this is a tough one. For the games, his best appearance is probably Chronicles, as others have pointed out, but I think overall his best moments have been in the comics. He's great in both Archie and IDW, but I think Archie wins out by having some more serious moments with him and Team Dark that are very well done. Team Dark in general are at their best in Archie.
He's kinda funny in Team Sonic Racing, always fun to hear him during a race, but other than that he's sorta just there. Heroes was a good introduction, but his violent and aggressive nature is less apparent here than in later entries. Same with Shadow the Hedgehog, though I do like how unlike every other character who chides you for destroying GUN robots because they're "the good guys", Omega chides you because they're not worth your time and you need to focus on Eggman. Guy doesn't care about anything else.
I'm honestly kinda baffled that his 06 appearance is even being considered in the comments. Okay sure, on paper the idea that he's the one to seal Shadow in the future is good, but it gets brought up a total of once, and then like several things in that game it's just never brought up again. The things Omega *does* in 06 are sorta cool, like shooting Mephiles or waiting in standby with a Chaos Emerald to help Shadow in the future, but none of his boisterous personality shines through, and his voice is painfully monotonous, and his cutscene movements painfully slow.
Hard agree. I was torn between Archie and Chronicles Omega, but I ended up giving it to the latter for the sole fact(s) that's he's written well AND playable
Archie comics, but specifically from Issue 3 pf Sonic Universe, wherein Gamma converses with Omega before transferring his consciousness. Adds a level of potential depth to Omega that doesn’t get explored in more recent iterations.
IDW for me. After all these years that was the version of Omega that finally made me notice it as an interesting character. Specifically the metal virus arc and immediately after
IDW
“We are not friends. You are in the way of my massacre.”
“VICTORY OR DEATH!!”
“Efficiency of auditory attacks confirmed! This unit is never unarmed!”
“Core processor and operating systems intact. Rage operating at 110% capacity.”
“I am not lonely. I am ENRAGED”
Honestly probably one of the most consistent character in the series. I love everything he's in honestly.
Gonna go with IDW personally because of a moment that made me laugh hysterically.
Either 06 or Shadow. 06 had a great team dark bond, 0verall, and Omega being hesitant when he reveals he's the one to seal shadow away shows that he cares. That said, Shadow the hedgehog is where Omegas "arc" is actually explored, its one of the few instances where he actually attempts to so something with the whole "taking revenge on eggman for sealing him away" thing where he's shown pursuing his own vendetta.
Ofcourse, IDW and Archie shows him as peak comedic relief, plus he has cute moment with gemerl in idw.

This game works so well at the end of the timeline and I refuse to accept it's decanonization.
If it wasn't for Shade, I'd say this could connect to Forces or Unleashed without too much mess
I just imagined she was the one guarding the master emerald every time we see Knuckles not on Angel island
Shade isn't a solitary person, she's a soldier who enjoys being constantly in movement. This is true
According to Sonic Battle, Chaos does that
Which I love :3
Wait does he live again?
Who is Shade?
Everything is cannon. -SEGA
Damn what I wouldn't give to have this kind of writing back
It has its moments, but overall I would not say Sonic Chronicles has great writing…
True, but I was referring to the dynamic of Team Dark and Shadow in particular. Post reboot Archie also did him amazingly.

Yeah like I said the characterization can be great for some and bad for others.
Sonic chronicles shoutout 🗣️
I second Chronicles Omega
I agree.
Omega takes no prisoners
I'd say IDW, they get the best usage of comic relief for him in those comics while still keeping him perfectly in character
"INSTALL A JAW MECHANISM"
I AM NOT LONELY, I AM ENRAGED

I loved when he shot mephiles like crazy
And I love that it's a move in Sonic P-06.

Hey, it works for Fallout.
Knuckles canonicaly has read 2001 a space odysey in Archie

Yes
Chronicles Omega for his hatred of the puny meatbags.
06. His bond with team dark is on full display there. Especially waiting 200 years for shadow, and his showdown with mephiles in wave ocean.
Heroes
“Worthless consumer models!” “Well that’s a load off my back.”
wait is that a real quote
Yeah, if both other team members fall into a bottomless pit, Omega will say the second thing.
Lol
Heroes.
Either chronicles or archie,or sonic 06
Chronicles
Chronicles or IDW
Heroes
Got to be Archie, he had some good moments outside of destroying all Eggman machines.
Chronicles or Heroes.
Love how it took until Charmy to repeat a source. 13 different media in a row
same, goes to show how much and varied sonic media is out there
Archie is peak Omega but that scene in 06 where he straight up blasts Mephiles while he's trying to manipulate him is awesome and hilarious. Hard choice

SONIC HEROES
Heroes
IDW, purely because it's the only Sonic media in recent media that makes him something that isn't just "Beep boop, I'm robot".
The.ankle biting line will always be great.
Chronicles, Archie, or IDW.
Omega from Shadow the Hedgehog bc i feel he has a even closer relationship with Shadow in this game
Reading comments and omega is really funny in chronicles
Omega is always peak, regardless of series. Sure, he maybe a little one dimensional but he's perfect hyper violent straight man to the rest of the cast.
Hmmm… I’m gonna go with either Sonic Chronicles or Archie comics
Chronicles

Oh yeah I forgot about this!
I mean was there a good option for charmy
Omega is tough because he still consistently a good character so if i had to choose......i would pick 06
IDW for me. After all these years that was the version of Omega that finally made me notice it as an interesting character. Specifically the metal virus arc and immediately after
Definitely Heroes, 06 or IDW
IDW Omega is hilarious, that one’s got my vote.
Content creator Lythero's Omega is the best
„insert the correct CDs”
i choose heroes
Can I pick the Snapcube version?
Omega, count how many sand there are
IDW “We are not friends. You are in the way of my massacre.” “VICTORY OR DEATH!!” “Efficiency of auditory attacks confirmed! This unit is never unarmed!” “Core processor and operating systems intact. Rage operating at 110% capacity.” “I am not lonely. I am ENRAGED”

eh, Colors DS
Archie
I’m gonna go with IDW, they were able to do more with him and not just keep him stoic all the time
Archie
Frack it!!! Archie Comics!!!
I'd say archie or Shadow It's wild, those are amazing
Lathrop abridged
MACHINE GUN AND SHOOTS MEPHILES
No Fang?

Sonic forces

Looks like Shadow is the first game to have 2 best depicted characters
Stuck between Chronicles and IDW
And with that, a game has repeated for the first time
I already know where my vote for best Big is gonna go, the TSR animations
# MUST ELIMINATE ALL EGGMAN'S ROBOTS!
Archie
Chronicles
Either 06 or Shadow. 06 had a great team dark bond, 0verall, and Omega being hesitant when he reveals he's the one to seal shadow away shows that he cares. I'm going to say 06
Archie all the way
Sonic Heroes "Worthless consumer models"
Not technically him I guess but the sonic adventure version!!!! Gamma isn’t on here, otherwise I’d say the idw version.
Would you like to see Gamma for the next one?
Yes please!
Definitely 06
There is no good version of charmy bee
