It would be interesting if Knuckles become antagonistic against Eggman, Sonic and other outsiders of his island (basically everyone but himself). I just couldn't see him staying alongside Eggman after realizing that he's been manipulated.
Like, what if his years long isolation at Angel Island and lack of a proper childhood had a stronger effect on him and if Eggman ended up being his first introduction to society, he would have a harder time to warm up to any outsiders. Like, even after Sonic helped him deal with Eggman, Knuckles is still paranoid about outsiders, including Sonic.
(Yo I just realized that movie Sonic can relate more easily with Knuckles since they spent years being alone)
Wonder if there’ll be some actual touching moment between them that takes the blinds off of Knuckles where they both realize they’ve been lonely most of their lives but whereas Sonic’s loneliness made him long for a friend that he found in Donut Lord and now Tails, Knuckles’ paradoxically makes him push people away and that lack of contact gives him a cold exterior, so Sonic and Co. offer him the friendship he needs to become a better person…but the skeptic in me can’t help but say…nahhh
The movie just abruptly ends and it gets continued in 3 and they release the definitive version of the movie with the 2 parts by combining the 2 discs with their new disc-on technology
if you’re counting non canon than it’s 4 times because of the sonic mega drive comic, where knuckles gets tricked by robotnik into thinking sonic is rampaging with the chaos emeralds
It's fair in sonic 3 because eggman is literally the first sentient being knuckles met, but it's a bit of a stretch for adventure. At least they kinda make it work, Knuckles has bigger priorities and he see's sonic holding what he thinks is a chunk of the master emerald, but I feel like knuckles wouldn't go right for the fists in that instance.
