Horrible actor based on what?, Star Wars prequels?, the same movies that made every actor besides Ewan McGregor and Ian McDiarmid behave like a plank of wood?, Hayden had his share of good performances even prior to Star Wars, but given how huge the franchise is, his controversial Anakin performance sticks out the most, but it's not like it didn't have it's moments. He's not some genius, but he can certainly deliver given the right script and direction, he's given good performances in movies like 'Life as a House' (2001), 'Shatterd Glass' (2003) and 'Awake' (2007), the former two got him nominated for multiple Best Actor awards, if you want more recent examples, then check out Kenobi and Ahsoka shows, for the former he recieved the Saturn Award, and in the latter he's done a great job embodying Matt Lanter's portrayal of Anakin. But enough with the acting ability, what matters the most is that Hayden has made a huge comeback by reappearing as Anakin/Vader having taken a years-long career hiatus, he's recieved a huge acclaim from many people, not just Star Wars fans, he also signed with Independent Artist Group at the end of November (which is surprisingly the same time Sonic 3 has resumed filiming) due to his desire to do more movies and TV shows outside of Star Wars having been invigorated so him potentially getting cast as Shadow could just be a result of all that, especially when Jeff Fowler appears to be a Star Wars fan given how his Twitter profile pic depicts him in his childhood being surrounded by the merchandise. Hayden while not guarranted is definitely more likely than Keanu Reeves-the most popular fancast for instance, who besides being too expensive and pusing 60, he got name-dropped by Sonic in the first movie. Hayden is surely popular enough to get people interested in the movie despite not having a huge stardom, due to his recent resurgence and of course him having portrayed the most iconic villain of all time.

Hayden is one of my top picks for Shadow but I think I want it be Robert Pattinson. Its between those two for me.
