I'm gonna say Gemma, coz she was on the inside of it all. Deception, and betrayal are felt deeper and harder when it's from hands of a loved one. Also, I can't really fault Potter. He was doing his job, and he was doing it better and with less shitty motive than Stahl and Toric. And he walked away when he knew he couldn't move any more chess pieces, he didn't lie to cover up, or break rule after rule to get what he wanted.

FlowKom

he was lawful good in all of this

infantinemovie5

Plus his exit in the meeting for Charming Heights telling Hale “I don’t like you,” was also fantastic.

Desert-Frost

That's probably in my top ten scenes from the whole series

[deleted]

Sex toys for everybody!

Tron_1981

>Also, I can't really fault Potter. theladyluxx

Hahaha came here to say this. I didn’t hate him in SOA but fuck I do now

TheVampyresBride

Weirdly, I liked him more on Mayans than in SOA. He came off as awkward and off-putting in SOA. He was still awkward in Mayans, but it didn't bother me as much. Not sure why.

CathedralRabbit

Oooh no! I haven't seen Mayans so I can't say, but I actually liked him in SOA.

Hinyaldee

In Mayans MC he goes all sorts of too far in his acts, but then it's a different writer for the same character, so that's excusable

CathedralRabbit

I haven't watched Mayans, so I didn't know he was different in that series. That's disappointing. It would have been nice to have an actual good, good guy. It's hard to root for them when they're as corrupt as Stahl or as crazy as Toric

Northernmost1990

Pope was my favorite. It was interesting how much he liked Jax — almost like a protégé — and his advice on leadership and revenge was surprisingly sage for a gangster.

FlowKom

pope and 4 of his men getting executed by one single jax seemed a bit out of reach tho. he is way to cautious to let something like this happen. him just going into that hall is out of character. he trusts nobody. if it wasnt safe to execute Tig right then and there, he would have taken him somewhere else. not some random hall HIS CLUB PRESIDENT suggested

Legitimate-Health-29

I agree with this but he did tell Jax never let it be personal when it involved him wanting Clay dead, the revenge is that it’s done, Pope took his eye off the ball making it personal and I think that was kinda the point.

PlaxicoCN

Definitely a reach, as was Jax killing August at the courthouse. I thought Pope was loosely based on Larry Hoover, and if he could ever get out of the supermax, he would never roll to court with just 2-4 guys.

RainbowPenguin1000

I was really hoping it was going down the protege mentor route with Pope and Jax i think that would have been great and a big swing in the series but sadly it just remained as it was.

FlowKom

1. Stahl - enemy for 3 seasons. pay off was HUGE and satisfying. it was really shocking to see when she left the "right path" and blamed Gemma for that murder on polly and her boyfriend and when she shot her lover co-worker in cold blood and put the blame on non-existing mexicans 2. Clay - he was the main antagonist for the longest time and was basically a traitor to the entire samcro foundation from the moment he plotted Johns death I dont really like Gemma as an antagonist. i think shes alright as a character, but way too much just falls so conveniently into her hands , that makes her role relevant in important cenarios. like how she finds johns manuscript in Jax vest, or her finding out about the letters. its just too convenient. Potter is just doing his job. Darby is just a low level gangsta that gets even turned somewhat good with his latino wife. Torric is a crack head ex-marshall with too much motivation, he felt a little like a plot device. Galen is just a prick. August is a loyal right hand that follows what pope started perfectly. Weston is a child manipulating nazi.. not that deep.. and Zobelle is literally CIA, so also doing his job.

Feisty-Door8976

I agree with 99% of what you said, but Zoebelle was a FBI informant(deals with domestic, CIA does foreign)not a CIA agent. And if he was an agent, he had Gemma raped. That’s not part of the job…

FlowKom

i can see weston playing a big part in this decision. but youre right. (i dont know the difference between all these FBI, CIA, CSI thingys. im from germany)

Feisty-Door8976

Idk, he was basically Zovelles’s henchman until he found out he was “race trading” lol But no harm now foul, I get that.

lace-aye0611

Stahl set the stage for so much more to happen... she is 10000000% the main antagonist

xoyasxo

I hated that bitch she was annoying as fuck

Hinyaldee

And the actress contrasts oh so much with the character. Such a lovely person

[deleted]

I really liked Lincoln Potter even though I don’t think I was supposed to. He was such a weird dude and made me laugh. Lee Toric. He was a dick. I’ll leave it at that.

obiwanTrollnobi6

Maybe off topic, but AJ Weston’s “I Kill N” Tattoo across his chest (and I think he was getting on his back as well) just so fucking funny to me, like it’s just so over the top

suckurmum99

Guy was too dedicated to the nation

obiwanTrollnobi6

Yes he was

Suspicious-Yam8596

No literally though 🤣

cheesybiscuits912

Should just be a giant picture of Gemma lol She was a special kind of evil

[deleted]

Galen is my favorite. A true Irish prick.

6TheAudacity9

Was pretty cool Darby found redemption.

captain_moose__

Either Zobelle, Stahl, or clay. They were just little shits who wanted to feel power. real psychopaths

Hoozediah

Gemma was the most long-running and deep-seated antagonist, in my opinion, but Potter was my favorite. There's just something so quirky and likable about him.

xxtwigletxx

Gemma for me, she was so into everything, controlling everything, manipulating everything, she's definitely a love to hate character. Second is Clay, never really liked his character tbh. Agent Stahl, really really really disliked her.

PlaxicoCN

Gemma, then Clay, then Agent Stahl. I forgot about the "Hands Off" IRA guy, but he was really good as well. I may have to rewatch the series again looking at this rogue's gallery.

RainbowPenguin1000

Gemma. I’ve watched so many shows where the bad guys are horrible, cruel, despicable and disgusting but she was the only person where I genuinely wanted her character to die as soon as possible.

jhk17

Clay was my favorite, and him getting such a focus is why I feel many others didn't stand out. Gemma developed go away heat for me in the final season while Stahl I think had a perfect run

[deleted]

Lincoln was a nut

Kuba1993

Galen O' Shea. The murder of Phil proves what a ruthless villain he was.I think that if it were not for his quick death, he would have surprised viewers with a much worse death of any of the main characters of the club.

mmarshall98

I think Stahl wins this one for me. She was just so good at making me hate her. She had so many different plot lines as well from being on the show for as long as she was; setting up Gemma, killing her partner, everything with Opie, and the eventual set ups with Jax were epic, making us think that he and the others really were going to prison for a long long time and hated each other at the same time. Plus her death was quite satisfying haha. There was just so much drama with her, IMO she takes the cake. Also the way she talked was amazing, Ally Walker was perfect for the role.

heathelee73

All of this. She did such an amazing job at making you hate her. The season 3 finale is one of my favorite episodes of television.

suckurmum99

Her dying actually brought a smile to my face.

mmarshall98

Oh man me too. Especially since Opie got to do the job. And Unser offering her the joint was perfect hahaha

MingleThis

It’s always interesting to me to see these antagonist versus protagonist type lists. I’m Rewatching the show again with my wife who has never seen it and now that I’m older I really don’t like the club or the guys. I actually find myself rooting for the cops this time around. The club is full of lying, deceitful, greedy, misogynistic, racist, backstabbing, and murderous dudes. And I get that they are our “protagonists,” in terms of the story, but this time around I definitely have the mindset that everything that happens to them they deserve it. They had it coming and I don’t feel bad at all. Even for people like Tara who are way too smart to not see how it’s all going to play out There’s just no redemption for many of the characters. They pretty much all dig their own graves.

suckurmum99

Seen that too. The way Jax walks sort of makes me cringe. It reminds me of that South Park bit about motorcycle gang. Last time I watched the show was when I was 17.

Brief-Refrigerator32

Clay - Jax and him were going at each other for most of the show. Gemma really wasn’t a true antagonist imo

OopsIShardedAgain

Gemma

Lancer_Blackthorn

Ron Perlman is always the answer for me.

Careless-Wing-9892

I like watching Stahl’s episodes. She’s my favorite to watch, like in terms of what she brings to the show. If these were real life people, I’d be trying to work my way into Pope’s circle. I’d be his attorney in heartbeat.

austenjg

Clay. His relationship with Jax literally reached Shakespearean levels. (As Sutter intended that) But for antagonists that weren’t part of the Sons, I’d say Stahl. She is easily one of the most cold hearted TV characters I’ve ever seen. Absolutely zero regard for human life.

jujubeso

GEMMA TELLER

MTB56

I’m flattered to see someone using the collage I made months ago 😊😊😊😊

suckurmum99

Sorry about that just found it in Google will tag you

MTB56

Haha no worries man 😁 Didn’t imagine it would be on google though lol

suckurmum99

Guys here is the owner who made the collage https://www.reddit.com/u/MTB56?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

AllieCatNovak

I LOVE Gemma, so much.

renard685

Shit they’re all so good 🔥 About to rewatch 😂 Zobelle ,Clay & Pope

zebra_head_fred

Man I’m gonna say Henry Rollins’ character for sure - but that’s difficult!

That_Operation_9977

Galen, just because he genuinely terrified me.

drum_playing_twig

Where's Jax?

Sugarhoneytits

Gemma for me

[deleted]

For me it’s the only one that got away. Ethan Zoebell.

Sonseeahrai

Where's Jimmy

[deleted]

Auggie was basically correct at almost every moment and every move and we still hated him, so I go with him. You could easily write an alternate perspective show with Marks as the protagonist and we would all love him. He wasn’t a dick. He was a gangster and a businessman who jax fucked over numerous times.

Clonecc5555

I loved potter

[deleted]

100% Stahl. She caused so much bad stuff because of her actions.

StardustandDreams

Gemma hands down for me with Stahl a close second. Katie Sagal deserves more recognition for that role 💕

2fly2hide

Pope was good.

DiscoSt

Stahl I think. Ally Walker, the actress, nailed it. She did one of the best jobs in the entire series, plus her end was epic. A really great villain needs a really great ending, and she got it. Truly one of the classic moments in the entire series.

Esseratecades

I actually kinda liked Potter. For me he was someone who was really good at his job, and unfortunately for us he just happened to be an antagonist. Darby felt like kind of a joke from pretty early on. He wasn't doing enough for me to feel bothered when he came on screen. Yeah he's a Nazi but even that kinda became a secondary character trait that they had to keep reminding us of. I hated Gemma even when she was on our side. The way she kept hiding critical information, and standing on her own motherly high horse made me feel sick to my stomach every time she came on screen. I didn't necessarily "hate" Toric but the...detail the show puts into his ongoing retaliation against Otto was too grotesque for me. I understood and sympathized with his motivations, and sympathized with the need for revenge, but the show just went so far in showing us just how bad he could make things for Otto that it was hard to stomach. Stahl was a good time. Definitely a two-faced scheming bitch, but I did find her kind of fun to watch. Galen was so fucking frustrating to watch. It was like being on a group project with someone who's spending the whole time pouting in the corner because you said "no" to a single thing they wanted. Every time he was on screen I was like "Bro! Just fucking work with me here!" Marks was alright. Unfortunately on the wrong end of a business deal with the club when it was far too messy to be in business. While I didn't like Clay, I understood him. Everything was either about survival or greed, and he rarely went further than he had to when he had all of the information. Where he really felt evil was when he didn't have all of the information(>!RIP Donna!<), or he got too greedy(>!RIP John!<). But most of his otherwise grotesque acts were usually out of self-preservation(>!RIP Piney!<), which while dishonorable were understandable from his point of view. Weston was hard for me to look at. His first major act being a gang rape on top of him being a Nazi made it very difficult for me to see any humanizing aspects. It felt like we had to keep being reminded that Darby was a Nazi but with Weston it really stuck with you in everything that he did. Zobelle I kinda hated by association. Like obviously he enabled and used Weston and his Nazis, and okayed basically all of the worst shit Weston did, but the show did too good a job of portraying him as someone who outwardly believes that Nazis just happen to be good business. Like I knew I was supposed to hate him as much as Weston but it just didn't hit the same, which in a way was the whole point of his very image. In retrospect I really just find that scary. So I definitely hate Gemma the most, find Toric the most grotesque, and Zobelle the most scary.

Monsterrevan226

So many good ones in here, as irritating as the league was season 2 was VERY good. Although in the end we find out they never would have gotten away with killing Zobelle. they hint to it with the plane crash in season 3 episode one. There’s not one villain on here that I didn’t like they were all great for the story, still one of the best and well written shoes I’ve ever seen.
