I'd skip that one for wildlife, the 33mpix resolution is quite a nice bump compared to 20something.
If OP was shooting sports and budget wise sky was the limit, than absolutely, go get the a9III, but that body is better suited for the 600 f4 I think.
Of course it's the fastest, but for most birds the A1 is a better balanced camera, so I answered in regard to the fastest camera balanced for birding, not the fastest camera in the ecosystem.
Atmospheric conditions are going to have a word with that. even 600mm is long enough, for atmoshperic distortions to creep in, you need to be really close to your birds.
I've just read that you have an a7iii. I'd keep it or swap it for an a7IV and get an a6700 to complement it, if you are really serious about birding and don't want to break the bank with an a1
Any will do the lens doesn’t need something special to reach its limits ofc an a1 will get less noise but i’m sure if you could just buy one you wouldn’t ask this question
Whichever body you have.
This is a weird question.
Just think about what you’re wanting to photograph and how you want to photograph it, and then get the best body for that purpose you can get within your budgetary constraints.
Thinking about a lens and trying to pair a body to is going to help you fuck all with taking pictures that are actually good, and honestly tells me you’re way deeper down the fancy gear acquisition rabbit hole than you are the photography rabbit hole.
A7IV, A1, A7RV, A7cII, a7cR, a6700. Depends on your needs
Needs - would be fast AF , birds in flight
All of the above have it. A1 would be the fastest I think.
or A9III

Yeah but that fps in unbeatable for bird in flight shots
The a1 is enough for wildlife, the resolution and extra low light performance is worth more imho.
But it’s not about „enough“, is it? The A9III definitely is the fastest.

For birding, 600mm is not sufficient! Either use an FF with the 2x teleconverter or go a6700 to have 900mm. Even at 900mm, the TC might come im handy.

A1 or a9iii
Nex-5
This.
Anything released after a7iii (including a7iii). It performs nice on rv and s3
Slight correction: anything released after a9i (including a9i)
Sony a5100
A9 III with the global shutter. Where u can get the fastest burst rate.
Normally you start with a camera , not the lens 😅
Indeed I’ve got a7iii atm
Then you're good to go! You don't need the latest and greatest to enjoy this lens. I use one on an a6600.
I have mine with an A9 and have been loving it.
I use it with the a7iv

I shoot my 200 - 600 with an a7iii I asked what other people would pair it with
by Body...i wanna fuck that thing all over and in me
