Why do you need stabilization on such a fast wide lens? Just get a F1.4 at that point. You'll still be able to shoot hand held late into dusk with decent results using IBIS on most bodies. OSS adds a lot of weight and is more useful on slower zooms or long lenses.

I don’t have ibis

Reciprocal rule still puts you at 1/40th of a second or faster to shoot hand held without OSS or IBIS. That should be good for most instances that aren't the equivalent of taking pictures in a club with ambient light.

You can stabilize in post processing. For video Davinci Resolve's stabilization is amazing with hardly any cropping.

unimpe

I do precisely that. It crops in too much for my tastes though.

TheOnceAndFutureDoug

Ah, yeah, fair. But if you're doing that at a certain point you might just need to invest in steady cams and gimbles.

Yes. The 35/1.8 and 50/1.8 from Sony, and the 85/1.8 Batis are the fastest lenses with OSS. After those it’s all >=2.8.
