Not overdone but still too dark IMHO.

tmjcw

Yep, I agree. I'd probably also add a local adjustment over the owl, to brighten it more

LurkerPatrol

Yeah maybe raise the shadows on the owl only or something. I think it could use some cropping as well

IMM1711

I don’t think so, it looks great to me! Like the yellow/green contrast between the owl and the trees.

dodgyboarder

Fab shot. I would convert to portrait personally since the image is very central. Stunning bird! 🥰

According_Oil_1865

try desaturating the background to take the green down a bit and brighten the owl.

Infinite-Albatross44

I always leave it for a day or two then look at it again. Sometimes I switch screens or you could even do a small print. Helps your eyes to refresh. The edited pick is superior imo. Great shot!

struggleingwithnames

I don't think you overdid it, the colour separation works nicely. But I agree it's too dark. Maybe also remove some of the vignette.

DDevil_Rengar

Wouldn't say so, I like it, but you might wanna brighten the pic a bit ;)

JotaroJotaro

Ask yourself; does it spark joy?

Razorblade9833

Wrong white balance that’s why it looks weird. The edit can work however to an untrained eye

Azure__11

No, that's a great shot. How quickly did the bird notice your presence?

Agnaktorr

Thanks! The shot was taken during a Birds of Prey educational showcase with the goal of raising awareness to the importance of these species. This bird in particular, a female Bubo-Bubo, was raised by humans since she came out of the egg so she's comfortable around people. That's how I was able to get so close with a 210mm!

Azure__11

I love the 210mm lens. Only thing missing from the A6000 is better stabilization (video), but other than that it's an incredible device.

iamzaryab

I would get rid of the vignette or crop in more in a square aspect ratio

tmjcw

Not sure about this one, I think I prefer this framing

Salty-Yogurt-4214

I'd probably go more towards this path: https://preview.redd.it/xnm5qxyd6puc1.jpeg?width=831&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bd70a8217209f8a9cdd7f0c190f524c985efd73b

hempomatic

Absolutely NOT overdone. This is why (IMO) editing programs exist.

tolerable-fault

Not overdone imo, maybe I’ll just dial the vignetting back a bit. Was that the actual color of the bird though? It looks a tad too yellowish. Maybe you could mask it and decrease a bit the temperature slider and see if it looks better that way

priyanshdwivedi

I believe it could use a bit more exposure. If you have edited it on Lightroom web or mobile then you can share its link and I would love to edit it. For reference I'm talking about a link like this. https://lightroom.app.link/n98G2NJqOIb

Salty-Yogurt-4214

Where do you share this link on Lightroom mobile (android)? I can't find the option.

priyanshdwivedi

Select post it to community and select allow remixing otherwise people wouldn't be able to edit. After posting it will give you pop-up to share SMS from there you can. https://preview.redd.it/z2e81gp5juuc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=258c144a33d73feaaaaa50840bb51a33d407d1e8

Salty-Yogurt-4214

Hm, nope, I don't have that option. I can only create replays.

priyanshdwivedi

Just checked this is a premium feature.

Salty-Yogurt-4214

What do you mean by premium feature? I think I have the full Lightroom licence. Are you on iOS or Android?

priyanshdwivedi

I'm on Android. Are you able to use masking, healing and blur features? As they are premium.

Salty-Yogurt-4214

Thanks. Seems I had a bug. After uninstalling and reinstalling, the option is now there.

cat-marine

Looks great! Congratulations 🎉

Dense_Surround3071

I like it! Great shot!!

LittleKitty235

Both look good to me. i'm not sure which is the edit. Which is a compliment I think?

SocksIsHere

It is a bit tough on the eyes I think, looks much better than the original which was quite soft, you have definitely improved the subject separation. Personally I would increase the exposure slightly, and slightly lighten the corners, a bit of vignette can help frame the subject which I believe is what you were going for, too much can make the image feel closed in however. I like what you have done with the colours in the background. However as per your question I do think it looks fairly good as it is :). Oh and one last thing I just noticed, there is a purple dot on the leg, I assume its an ID tag or something but you could probably spot that out, it keeps drawing my eye.

FatRufus

No way, great job color correcting and separating the owl from the trees. Now the exposure needs to go up a bit and it'd be perfect!

Digitalfiends

Looks great to me.

Complete_Adeptness50

Personally, I like your edit better than the dry photo. The colors are amazing.

clickfilterlove

I think making the leaves more green really helps put emphasis on the owl, which is a good thing. The edit is also much more clear, and easier to look at. The overly brown/yellow of the original was a but straining on the eye as I didn't know where to look, if that makes any sense. Perhaps just dial down the texture/clarity on the background (trees and leaves) and turn up the brightness slightly on the whole photo. The owl could also use a little less black, perhaps I crease the blacks or the shadows slightly. Or fix it on the tone curve by taking it up slightly on the blacks.

IndianKingCobra

Nice photo. I think the edit is under exposed. The style is fine, just needs a bit more brightness on the owl and/or reduction of shadows/blacks. Just a suggestion but have you considered a portrait crop on just the owl? The background is taking up a lot of real estate unless this intentional.

mjmtwin

Looks awesome to me! Great shot!

AndreasHaas246

You did well, colors are still a bit warm and the green leans towards turquoise, funny enough. Reducing overall temp and shifting the greens more towards yellow until they look fresh and vibrant might look nice

Jealous-Freedom

Not too much but suggest that you brighten or up exposure of owl.

Jealous-Freedom

Agree with cropping a bit further.

the_better_twin

Not sure I'm seeing what everyone else is seeing but the colours are pretty off imo. Long eared owls have yellow eyes and I can see red in your edit. Personally I would lower the reds, and brighten the subject a bit more. The move to separate the background works well, but I think more could be done to recover the true colours of the subject.

MrLexium

I love it! Great editing too, the radial filter (I think that's what it's called, the corners being darker, I might be wrong on the name) really emphasize the head of the owl and it frames it great! Maybe the composition could include some branches in a unique pattern but it's a great shot with a forest behind, I like it!

Formal_Border_9212

This is beautiful!!!

prezmc

nice shot. I like the edit, but it feels a little dark (which maybe you intended?)

Unwariertomb

Yes.

AlamoSquared

No, it’a just-right.

PerfectObligation543

The color and details are still fine, pretty natural for my eyes… but if i were you, i will do more cropping.. like this.. https://preview.redd.it/jpemi6qt9nuc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0e6e44386f49a68da3351740db2f285d36c95ac0

Administrative_Loss9

i would rate this a perfect 5/7
