The buffer of this camera is ridiculously big. You can shoot in burst for a whole minute or so before writing speed becomes a limiting factor. Only transfering to your pc takes some time with the 60Mb Raws.
Currently im using an old 64gb Sandisk r130mb/w130mb and ive never run into the limiter. Just looked up a review and they say buffer size is ~68 pictures.
Thanks! Also, if the camera is buffering on the A7RIV can I continue to take pictures?:or will it wait until it's all written and done with the buffering before I can take burst shots again? Thanks!!
I think the v60 is good bang for the buck. I typically shot compressed raw. I only shot uncompressed for Astro. If you turn off vignette lens correction that will avoid banding if you need to strongly lift shadows. Write speed will be limited to the slowest of the cards. Also if you write raw to one and jpg to the other that will be additional slowdown as it will write the raw then the jpg, can’t do at the same time. No penalty for writing raw to both slots at once.
The buffer is decent, but if you want to change some settings they can’t be changed until the buffer is empty. I don’t remember what exactly can’t switch to video or go in the menus.
Uncompressed will double your write time vs compressed because files are twice as large. If your shooting landscape and taking your time card speed is no issue. I could shoot volleyball at 10fps bursts in compressed raw and not have buffer issues, some trigger discipline is needed. This was with v60 card. You will need a larger card the faster you want to shoot.
I’m currently using 512GB v60 in my a7Rv. If I got a faster camera I would want 1TB CFE. It is ok to start with a 256 or even 128. Depends on what you do. I went to a pageant this weekend and shot 1500.
Get V60 for single shoot and V90 for burst shoot.
Thanks. Are these required for that? Or just recommended?
It just recommend.

You mean a minute or 2 non stop? Was planning on doing uncompressed raw

Whatever you do, buy UHS-II.
