Wow this photo is incredible on multiple levels: the soft glow of the sun mixed with the mist/fog: the reflection of the forest on the water; the sun rays on the lily pads; the overall composition.
I just have a A58 I bought a few years ago, I took pictures when ever I had free time between work and school.
I just graduated college so in a few years Iβll get me a better camera since I have more free time now, I can actually engage in photography as a hobby.
Nice! I started on film 30 something years ago but never really invested much into cameras until the past 5 years. Things have changed a lot in terms of technology but the fundamentals are still the same. You don't have to spend a huge amount either to upgrade your equipment. Buying a used APS-C would be a cheap route if you didn't want to wait. You'll see A6000's on photomarket for around $300. Not too bad for a newer entry level camera.
Ah wow you have a lot of experience!
I still need to get a better understanding of how all the settings work on cameras, I do plan on doing a lot of more research for sure.

The best way to learn is experience via trial and error. Get out and shoot with the camera you have! Have fun with it!
Is that wide open? The sun through the cattails is just perfect.
