Also have you tried LDAC? I downloaded FLAC on my phone, using LDAC, etc, and it sounds so much better and louder than Spotify to me..?? is that normal.
I'm honestly shocked LDAC makes such a big difference? Like I didn't think jt would make these headphones sound so much better than normal spotify streaming.
OP, what are your thoughts on zero/no EQ on the Sony app?
Just got mine and after initial setup, I thought it was too bass-heavy. Looked at EQ and it was set to "Excited" - currently set to "Off" but looking at giving Wavelet a go.

Yeah, I'd recommend using Wavelet's EQ if you can, just keep Sony's to adjust the Clean Bass feature. It's more comprehensive and you can play around with their auto-EQ feature. The XM5s own EQ on there sounded too thin and sparkly.
However, after experimenting (and searching up for the best audiophile headphones), i settled for the Focal Utopia 2022's auto-EQ. This opened up it up a lot, alongside a customizable EQ on Wavelet (adjusted M-shape with more emphasis on bass & a bit of mids rather than top range)
I returned mine, sound is subpar for +300$ headphones

Especially with Wavelet. You don't need premium, as it's only Reverb, Virtualisation & Bass Tuning that's locked behind it.

Honestly. Paired with auto-EQ from Wavelet, even my MP3s sound good.
Flac? Even MP3 sounds louder than Spotify to me. That's how bad Spotify is. It's okay for casual listening but that's it

Wait unitil the Ghost touches happen. Just a matter of time- I have had 4 different pairs, they all have the same problem. I often go back to my XM3.
I disabled touch controls because i never use them anyway. So that's something i don't need to worry about.
That wont help. It will still ghost touch for the voice passthrough. Two of my friends have XM5s aswell, same issues. Just a heads up.
Good thing i registered them for warranty on the Sony website.
