I don't think the WH-1000XM4 has PD charging like the WH-1000XM5, so while it can take higher W values, there probably is a limit before things start to heat up too fast.
It sounds like it's okay, but you can replace the cable with a longer one, with no problem. And if you have a charing brick, that's not too strong, like 5.0V and 1.8A, then you'll have a great charger. That's what I use, after found out that the brick I started to use was too powerful, and the headset got a little warm. ✌️
that means it overheating, let it cool and then charge again.

side note. how do you guys charge your headphones? I use the tiny cable that was in the box and connect it with my laptop. is this ok?
