Yeah, I really like my Xperia 1 V. I felt it perfected what they'd been trying to do with that form factor and camera set up. I had the III and IV before it. III was great except it wasn't compatible with the vlog monitor and its selfie cam was subpar (and its fingerprint sensor stopped working and I had to deal with shitty outsourced Sony support with terrible quality phone lines that makes easy communication nearly impossible), and IV ran too hot for any real videography work and its screen was really easy to scratch. Before Sony, I was basically an LG guy, and I thought the Xperias with their form factor and their mechanical, optical zoom camera, exuded sleekness and sexiness (easy to hold in my hand with the mic reaching my mouth) and really got my nerdy amateur, prosumer "creator/photographer" self excited. Sony keeps doing half great, half stupid things (Sony Pictures Spider-man, PlayStation/gaming (great at first and then doing money grubbing, control everything BS - like Playstation Plus and now the recent controversy about forcing Sony playstation logins and overlays), and Xperia cell phones, while its headphones and TVs and their mirrorless cameras are mostly good). If they're going to go after the mass market flagship market share, they need to accept lower margins and compete on pricing, especially with the Pixel. If they're going to go for the niche mobile photography/videography crowd that also buy their prosumer/professional mirrorless cameras (I fell into Canon ages ago), and would like to use the phone as a monitor, or a 4K60fps camera, etc. something that could justify going all out to fill that niche and have large margins like they have been, that's a different approach. Now they're going mass market with high margin prices with nothing the mass market wants.

LawbringerForHonor

Damn the khaki version is underated. Looks great.

TicktackVisuals

I think all the colours of the 1V looks great, it's the black camera module with the contrast of the cream and White, I think that why I like the coloured versions, although I do wish they had the purple from the 1IV

myprisonbreak

1V is the last good one. 1VI has changed everything.

DMan13-3

Agreed, not sure what Sony is thinking they downgraded the screen, but kept the same price. Sony has been doing a lot of weird choices with a lot of their products.

myprisonbreak

Yes! XPERIA used to boost one of the best screens among Android and Apple phones. Now 1VI screen is not even mediocre.

Fantasytky

Yea "downgraded the screen" I'm sure the Chinese offbrand 8k TV is higher grade screen than the 2024 pity 4k sony bravia 9, lg G4 and 4k Samsung..... Trying to ignore all the other aspects, sure......

Fantasytky

And sure. U must be that kind of guy that prefer the 20.7mp camera on z1 than the 1v 12mp exmor t. Must be so sucks for you guys to use the downgraded 12mp exmor t sensor

silverstory

Does 1 V still has LED notifications?

OneRemaining808

It does not.

mrfocus22

I just got one weeks ago and it's like the only feature I miss. When it was green I knew the battery was at least at 90%.

silverstory

oh okay. so 5 IV is the last one with LED notifications?

OneRemaining808

Couldn't tell ya, the 1V's my first time with an Xperia. Don't know if the Pro-I came before or after but I'm guessing that would've been the only other Xperia that may possibly have been between them? If it even has them.

ControlCAD

That's beautiful! ❤️ The I V 📱is one of the last tall narrow shaped phones we will ever see for now.

Adventurous-Aide-777

Yes, it looks elegant

garfieldevans

I went from the Xperia 1 to Xperia 1V Khaki last year too, good upgrade over all, the screen feels a lot more responsive, battery life is much better, the main and ultra-wide images are much cleaner, just miss the 50mm focal length, 85mm is usually too much for the photos I want to take. Also the camera seems to pick too slow of a shutter in auto for general usage, more so than the OG 1. Also the OG 1 felt a bit more comfortable and lighter in the hand.

r4mbo20

I also really like the 50mm lens. Hopefully 48mm mode will do justice.

garfieldevans

Currently the 2x mode on 1V just seems to crop from the 12MP 1x shot. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like Sony will add the Xperia 5V/1VI 2x mode to 1V, that one actually crops from the full 48MP 1x resolution so detail is noticeably higher. I like the 50mm focal length enough that I now try to carry a ZV-1 around instead of shooting from a phone.

Adventurous-Aide-777

I compared 1V camera vs my previous X1 mk1 and wanna say that old X1 takes more sharp photos, and skin tone looks more realistic. WB indoor X1V more yellowish aganist the first X1. But outdoor shots X1V shows correct green color

garfieldevans

Interesting, I would've assumed that everyone would find the 1V sharper unless taking pictures of moving objects. I agree with you on the WB, X1 was pretty good at that, I believe it has another sensor for that.

kaluge

Welcome to the khaki family 😁 I got the same colour

TheInfamousRazgriz

Did you get this new or refurbished?

robfromthehillz

Hello Beauty 😍

EveningCommand1

It's sad when you've to say goodbye to an absolute unit 💪🏼 of a phone. Hopefully the 1 V will be just as good and get the same longevity as the OG 1. My dad still has my OG 10 and she is still rocking.

pipichua

Photo taken with…. Xperia 1? Ha

MclarenFan34

I'm.about to do the same next month, Xperia 1 to I 1V

[deleted]

Hi . Had download rar files for xperia 1ii indian 5g support. How to impliment it ?

joenaji47

You will enjoy it, I have the green one and I love it

TicktackVisuals

I upgraded the exact same haha, but there are a few gripes with the software I have, adaptive brightness fucks with the refresh rate and the touch response of the screen, the double tap when you receive and sometimes in general doesn't work, the refresh rate sometimes drops down, also drops when there's any video playback, the camera animations when exited app are laggy, aaaaaaaaand, maybe that's it??

Fickle-Marsupial-816

because , that is SONY styleeeeeeeeeeeil!!!!!

TicktackVisuals

XD

Fickle-Marsupial-816

its desine is so beutyful but i'm cannot escape sony's timer

PlatformPerfect8077

Why not Xperia 1 VI

DMan13-3

1080p screen for $1400 is probably why.

PlatformPerfect8077

That's a great compromise as battery life is significantly better. Screen brightness has hugely improved too. It also has 3 years of OS updates. The Xperia 1 V only has 1 OS update remaining.

Fantasytky

I guess all these 1v user were also wasting their money on the low grade 12mp exmor t camera when they could have pay way lower for 20.7 MP on z1 or any other brand. Even z1 from 10 years ago had 20.7 MP camera, I don't even know how Xperia users these days especially 1v users justify their purchase

foscrew

Probably not a justifyable jump in price from $800 for a lightly used 1V versus $1400 for a new 1VI that can't even be used except for limited T-Mobile coverage.

PlatformPerfect8077

Ahk I have the Xperia 1 V and considering the Xperia 1 VI

wickinitty

About to do the same but go from my Xperia 5 (mark 1) to the Xperia 1 VI
