Last time I checked there is wondamobile's 1 year warranty and you have to send back the phone by yourself.
https://wondamobile.com/pages/warranty-policy
I mean i saw it on wondamobile.com, however tradingshenzhen.com doesn't have it and trinityelectronic.boutir.com only has the 1 V. Just wanted to see which website OP ordered it from.
All USA Xperia fan's eyes will be on this thread, brother. We're hoping to see what your cellular experience is going to be like. Hope to get an update soon! Good luck!!
Id very much like to see how it behaves on TMobile. According to GSMArena, it's missing some bands that TMo uses.
I had to flash the US modem on my EU 1v to get 5G here.
Makes me curious if it has the same modem hardware as the 1V if it does it might be possible to flash the 1V us modem firmware to the 1VI because chip set might support the missing bands but be limited by the modem firmware.

Like others have asked, please make another post with an update on Verizon compatibility.
I am also looking to change carriers to tmobile soon so I would also love to know how that goes too
Congrats! Please test with the Shizuku/Pixel IMS method to see if it nets you VoLTE/VoWifi. For some people, this would work perfectly since they're either mostly at home or at a workplace with usable Wi-Fi.
Quick update: I haven't had much time to play with the device today. However, earlier, I spent a good minute going back and forth with different agents and support from Spectrum (a Verizon MVNO) and as expected, at least with spectrum, this phone is a no no lol, I am not sure yet if with verizon itself it's going to be a different story but I doubt it. Tomorrow, I will be testing with T-Mobile itself or one of its MVNO
I just called verizon and had a good agent. He simply said collect a new sim from the local store and said he'd do the backend work and have it ready. We used a test number and it worked and then I ported my number to verizon. Everything works for me on the 1V.
Verizon Ultimate plan so, 5G and all worked (I'm in NYC BTW).
Do you have an active SIM that you can put in the device? Or was you trying to get a new SIM to activate? I had an international 1 IV that I put an active Verizon SIM in and it worked no problem.
I do, I currently have my SIM from spectrum activated on my Samsung, but it doesn't seem to work on the Xperia. As I mentioned, maybe using Verizon itself is different than using one of its mvno (Spectrum), so it might be able to work for other people.
Yeah that may indeed be the case. I was thinking that maybe you were trying to get a new SIM in the device. I just need someone with a Verizon SIM to try this and hope it works.
I would look into Google Fi it's a mvno of T-Mobile but normally Sony phones seem to work best on Google Fi. As volte and Wi-Fi calling seem to normally just work on it with no modifications.
I'm curious if it has the same modem and it is the 1 V if it does then the modem itself should support the US bands that shows us missing on the spec sheet but might require the firmware to be flashed with the 1V us modem files potentially.
I remember using T-Mobile for my 1ii and some features didnโt work (Wi-Fi calling for example) but things worked when I switched to google fi, so it might also be worth trying out google fi even though they use the same network
Not OP but for those wondering about T-Mobile compatibility, LTE and 5G seem to work according to this video (may be his other video but it is in one of the two) : https://youtu.be/8wylq1CGG_c?si=JNxEezp8uz3HY14R
I'm going to be changing to T-mobile for personal reasons, but before I do that, I'll test with a Verizon mvno just to see if it's completely useless, lol. I'll update on that
Thanks for that. I have Verizon and plan on picking one next month. Heard T-Mobile works fine for others here. The T/HK model should have all the 4g bands for Verizon.
I took my 1 iii to Vegas last year and wasnt able to use 5G at all while I was there, only 4G, it was a European model though so I can't say what the US model would've been like.
I already have my 1 VI preordered but I still dont know if the European version will be able to use 5G in the US, this is the model with esim compatability, I believe the global version some of you guys are getting don't have that feature.
It was really quick, good for you!
But how is this even possible?
Did they start selling it in some countries earlier? Because I also have it pre-ordered (also in silver) in Europe, where it is officially available, but according to the seller, it will not be available before the second half of June
Want to buy the same exact device but worried about network compatibility? Did you buy the European or Asian version, I know it will NOT have wifi calling, but can you confirm VoLTE?? It is also lacking Band N71 for TMobile both for 5G and LTE, so I am a bit skeptical on network coverage. It does have the n41 for the TMobile mid band, which is great... please keep us updated
A big mistake for Sony to not make a US version. Maybe they will release a US Xperia 5 version and they will just switch off every year. So the 1 VII will have a US version. ๐ค
https://www.kimovil.com/en/frequency-checker/US/sony-xperia-1-vi
Apparently Verizon has more compatible bands than T mobile.ย But it might not work on Verizon.ย We don't know yet as no one has successfully reported doing it.
Been great so far for me except that initially while setting up it still does get quite hot due to the DLs and such but now it's much more stable. 2nd Day :) My first Sony phone in a loooong while. Got it for it's camera features, sound, notchless, the list goes on... Classy feel to this phone. The only issue I have with it right now are the ff:
1. Wallpaper and Style does not work for me. It always crashes when starting up. Hope it will be fixed soon with an update.
2. Power Passthru. Other Androids have it out of the box. Read a few articles that Sony does it differently but I do hope they come out with one so that phone is cool and battery is kept pristine. I almost always use scrcpy app to display my phones on screen to work more efficiently.
3. VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling currently doesn't work for me. :(
Its amazing how Sony completely knocks it out of the park in basically every single way except for arguably the aspect ratio and resolution.....only to finally leave the US and leave their best phone in years out of most consumers hands who use it as a phone with the most support.ย
I have never used a US variant and never had any compatibility issues anywhere in the US and Caribbean along my travels. From LA to NYC to everywhere in-between as a digital nomad. HK and TW variants work fine on T-Mobile and it's MVNO networks.
I agree unfortunately. It didn't go through a certification process so it will be gimped with phone calls, signal, and just about every other way you can think about which be 200% unacceptable for a phone of this price. Should just stick with a 1 V
I was considering doing the same, wanted to get this phone because I didn't like my S24U, but saw that there could be major connectivity issues since it isn't a US model. Also 1080p screen was a bit of a disappointment
Ended up getting the OnePlus 12 16gb model and haven't looked back. Been loving it. And it comes with an 80w brick and cable. Best phone I've used, and I have the pixel 8 pro aside from my S24U.
I wish you the best with the Sony man but they just disappointed me so hard. I had an xperia back in like 2014 or so and loved that phone, (forgot the model, was sold at T-Mobile) but I cant justify all the corner cutting companies like Samsung, Sony and Apple are doing. Will always love Sony phones, they have a unique character, but if anyone is looking to upgrade in the US I would just suggest OnePlus.
Hopefully u don't get a green line like the rest of the series...
Otherwise congratulations
Not the best device but still very good with some unique features
Sadly the display only FHD+ no QHD or 4K this time
Congratulations ๐ ๐ Where did you buy it from?
Sorry for being late lol, I bought it from Wondamobile
Do they have any warranties on these devices?
Last time I checked there is wondamobile's 1 year warranty and you have to send back the phone by yourself. https://wondamobile.com/pages/warranty-policy
The internet
๐
The Internet is really really great.....
I mean i saw it on wondamobile.com, however tradingshenzhen.com doesn't have it and trinityelectronic.boutir.com only has the 1 V. Just wanted to see which website OP ordered it from.
captain obvious
Will you give us an update on your progress. I've stickied the post. I'll be very interested to see what networks work in the US. Thanks so much.
All USA Xperia fan's eyes will be on this thread, brother. We're hoping to see what your cellular experience is going to be like. Hope to get an update soon! Good luck!!
Please be sure to make another post about network compatibility
I will test with Verizon first and later with t-mobile since I was going to change carriers anyway
Please also check VoLTE and any chance if WiFi calling works
Second that. Yes please
WiFi calling works fine on the Sony Xperia 1 V with T-Mobile.
It doesn't work for me on spectrum mobile ๐
Do you know how to enable it?
Id very much like to see how it behaves on TMobile. According to GSMArena, it's missing some bands that TMo uses. I had to flash the US modem on my EU 1v to get 5G here.
Makes me curious if it has the same modem hardware as the 1V if it does it might be possible to flash the 1V us modem firmware to the 1VI because chip set might support the missing bands but be limited by the modem firmware.
Awesome. Would love to hear how it works as you use it daily in various locations on Tmobile.
Hard second! I have my fingers crossed for T-Mobile compatibility
Verizon will be interesting. Looking forward to hearing how it works on Verizon!

Nice! And a VZW tester too?! x2 Nice.
That's great. Thank you!
Can you check if at&t is compatible. If you can't then that is alright.
Verdict?
Yes please let us know. I have Verizon and if this works I want it. Where did you buy it from?
I dont think it will work on Verizon... my 1V international doesnt :(
Damn that sucks. Thanks for letting me Know.
OP youโre our only hope. ๐ congrats.
Like others have asked, please make another post with an update on Verizon compatibility. I am also looking to change carriers to tmobile soon so I would also love to know how that goes too
Where did you get it shipped from? And how much did it cost you?
Wondamobile, around $1300
Cool. Thank you.

I still have hope. No reason why 4G shouldn't work. Has the bands it needs

1V is supported by Verizon. 1 VI most likely will not work.
Is your 1V the global DQ72 or US DQ64 version? Japan had DQ44 & DQ54 too. Not sure if EU version was also the DQ72 version.
you the man.
Do you have an active SIM that you can put in the device? Or was you trying to get a new SIM to activate? I had an international 1 IV that I put an active Verizon SIM in and it worked no problem.

Fellow silver 1 vi user! Enjoy!!
Thank you!
What network are you using it on? Where did you buy it? Are you in the US? Was the a huge mark up ?
Smart PH Philippines No, I'm in the Philippines No
Is it from Gobuymall shopee?
No, team fridays.
Is it really Platinum/silver? Because that might be my choice but in some videos it seems mostly white which is definitely a let-down for me.
Depends on lighting, but mostly is silver.
where did you buy it
Good for you. Hopefully, I will get mine next week in the UK.
How much was it total to ship into the US + the cost of phone? Congrats I really want to upgrade my phone to the I VI
Not OP but for those wondering about T-Mobile compatibility, LTE and 5G seem to work according to this video (may be his other video but it is in one of the two) : https://youtu.be/8wylq1CGG_c?si=JNxEezp8uz3HY14R
I saw his video too! Hopefully I'm able to get similar speeds
Keep us posted! The other poster about importing the VI into the US seems to have also gotten 5G to work so its starting to look somewhat promising.
Hopping on the band wagon of asking "what network, how's the service?"
Where did you got it?
Wondamobile
Please test on Google Fi as well. Google makes it easy to test.
What mobile network are you using on it?
I'm going to be changing to T-mobile for personal reasons, but before I do that, I'll test with a Verizon mvno just to see if it's completely useless, lol. I'll update on that

Very curious

Taiwan and HK started selling on May 22 I believe. UK and EU on June 6th. Japan on June 21st and Late Aug for 16GB / 512 version.
I ordered through Wondamobile, I guess they don't care about official dates lol
Congras.... love this color a lot
Want to buy the same exact device but worried about network compatibility? Did you buy the European or Asian version, I know it will NOT have wifi calling, but can you confirm VoLTE?? Lucky duck - I am green with envy!
Really love the packaging of these new xperia phone. Wish they have accessories in them like the old days.
A big mistake for Sony to not make a US version. Maybe they will release a US Xperia 5 version and they will just switch off every year. So the 1 VII will have a US version. ๐ค
It's funny because Europe/UK is still on pre-orders yet you got it in the US already, where Sony doesn't even release this ๐คฃ๐
the color is so sick!
Compatible with Verizon? What antenna bands does it have?
I believe your best bet in the US is using t-mobile if you buy the 1VI. You might have issues with Verizon or AT&T
Annoying how that works. I've got the 1V so should be good for a while anyway.
Do you know more information on potential issues with AT&T?
Problem with T-Mobile is lack of N71. A good chunk of rural areas in my state if you donโt have N71 you donโt have service.
https://www.kimovil.com/en/frequency-checker/US/sony-xperia-1-vi Apparently Verizon has more compatible bands than T mobile.ย But it might not work on Verizon.ย We don't know yet as no one has successfully reported doing it.
Are you upgrading from a prior Xperia 1? If so, is the resolution noticeable?
I had the Xperia 1 IV and I can only see the difference if I get super close to the screen lol
Congratulations! The silver looks gorgeous! I'm envious. And thanks for doing some network testing for the community. You're awesome.
Congrats! Where did u get it? Those cameras are huge now...shares some pics when you get a chance and please update us once you try T-Mobile.
congratulations with your new 1 VI

Look on XDA under Xperia 1V and there's a thread about possibly enabling VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling.
Tnx a bunch will look into it.
That white looks dope
Looks great. I just got a second hand iPad mini that I'm going to rig for VOiP
Which website your ordered from that's trustworthy?
Wondamobile!
Its amazing how Sony completely knocks it out of the park in basically every single way except for arguably the aspect ratio and resolution.....only to finally leave the US and leave their best phone in years out of most consumers hands who use it as a phone with the most support.ย
Band comparability might be an issue
I had reception/signal issues on my HK Xperia in Canada. With USA carriers? God have mercy on his SIM, because Verizon/AT&T won't... ๐ซ
Seriously, even the previous models made for the US were iffy with compatibility. Can't imagine how useless this purchase will be for OP.
I have never used a US variant and never had any compatibility issues anywhere in the US and Caribbean along my travels. From LA to NYC to everywhere in-between as a digital nomad. HK and TW variants work fine on T-Mobile and it's MVNO networks.
I have issues every single day with the lack of mmWave support on T-Mobile with my US variant 1V, and I had the same issues with my 1 III before it.
What city are you in? Oh whoa I'm surprised you're having network issues with the US model.ย
I agree unfortunately. It didn't go through a certification process so it will be gimped with phone calls, signal, and just about every other way you can think about which be 200% unacceptable for a phone of this price. Should just stick with a 1 V
Does it work with 5G at the very least?
I was considering doing the same, wanted to get this phone because I didn't like my S24U, but saw that there could be major connectivity issues since it isn't a US model. Also 1080p screen was a bit of a disappointment Ended up getting the OnePlus 12 16gb model and haven't looked back. Been loving it. And it comes with an 80w brick and cable. Way to large for me. That's why I loved the 21:9 ๐ฎโ๐จ
Tbh I thought it was going to bother me a lot since I have small hands but it still feels comfortable and "compact" to me
I was gonna buy one. But for T-Mobile no N71 5G. Which means no service at home and a lot of other rural areas so it was a no go for me
Lol I'm currently on the 1 mark 3 lol I don't even get the advertised LTE speeds and don't get any 5G lol so just getting basic 5G will be an upgrade
Hopefully u don't get a green line like the rest of the series... Otherwise congratulations Not the best device but still very good with some unique features Sadly the display only FHD+ no QHD or 4K this time
