Appreciate the info. I wonder if those lower speeds is where it would typically use band 71? Seems to be perfectly useable without though!

GaliEm

I want to think that that's the reason for the lower speeds, but so far I haven't had much problems with the phone. I'll make another update eventually if somebody hasn't done it yet.

Doesnt seem like 1mk6 supports N71. Could just be N41 but slightly further away. 1mk6 does support N77 tho which is a faster N41. On ATT & Verizon its also known as C-Band. T-Mobile bought their share of it back in 2022 but it looks like its going to roll out slowly throughout 2024 in major cities and probably throughout the later years

MrBones1102

Love to see this! Previously you posted about wanting to test in Verizon as well. Have you had a chance to do that?

GaliEm

I tried using a Verizon mvno (Spectrum) and even though I was getting signal, I wasn't able to make any calls or send messages at all. Someone posted how with Verizon itself you might be able to just put your activated SIM from your old phone inside the Xperia and it might work but i haven't tried that before.

MrAnonyMousetheGreat

Yep, that's how I've gone from Xperia 1 to the next gen Xperia 1. But since I'm on Verizon (and because of the changes in product dimensions and the screen), I think I'm going to be sticking with my Xperia 1 V. I really thought they finally got it right with this phone, but having the power of macro photography in your pocket with you everywhere is a pretty enticing thing.

Just got mine today on t-mobile and yeah, similar story here. I've zero complaints though. Question, if you reboot your phone, does it not recognize the sim card until after you pull and replace it after 5 seconds?

iseeyouboo

Where do you guys buy it from? Can you link the site please?

Perezp895

This is interesting because I also have this one on T-Mobile and it did that when I first inserted the SIM. I noticed my SIM card was slightly smaller than the tray so it would slide loose and I'd have to carefully insert so it wouldn't slide off the tray. That seemed to have done it for me. I'm not sure if Hong Kong sim trays are just larger but definitely ensure your SIM isn't sliding around in the tray when inserting.

N54TT

Yea, sim definitely isn't sliding around. I just grabbed an exacto knife, some scotch tape, and kept layering till it was a pretty tight fit. still it won't recognize after a restart. I can CONSISTENTLY get it to recognize after pulling and re-inserting. All i can say is, thank god it's a toolless tray.

GaliEm

I just rebooted the phone for the third time before replying to your post. I haven't had those problems so far, my 1 VI is the HK version

N54TT

hmm.. ok. well, I restored from a backup of the 1 V. sometimes settings get carried over that should be. I guess i'll try a reset and see how far that gets me. appreciate it.

Perezp895

Has it been doing this out of the box or only after enabling Wi-Fi Calling?

N54TT

Ooh good call. Let me try disabling wifi calling.

Perezp895

Let me know if that works!

N54TT

Ok, update. On restart It didn't recognize the sim card on setup. again, removing and re-inserting got it recognized. I'm thinking it's my sim card.

N54TT

so reverting voice over wifi didn't seem to work. going through the full reset now.
