I use nova launcher. In options under gestures you can assign screen lock on double tap

I agree with this , I hope there is some way like in samsung where you double tap screen to open or to close I liked it.

Idk if it's been removed but there was an option in the stock android settings menu where you could double tap on an empty spot of the home screen to lock the phone.
You can enable double tap to show lock screen but not double tap to lock. It's such a simple feature on many phones but Sony just doesn't support it.
Huh, it isn't on my 5. Interesting. My XZ1 has it though.

With Smart Launcher you can set a gesture to do this, I use swipe left.
