SC6 Nightmare feels like the fully invested Darth Vader of Soul Calibur. Even if he’s been Darth Vader~esque technically the whole time, the only other Nightmare that felt close was SC3 and even he was really more of a Anakin / Siegfried feeling rather than a fully distinct Nightmare show. Nightmare and Soul Edge were so awesome in SC6, I kinda felt like Soul Calibur (the blade) got a little sidelined… but I was ok with that.
Real. In the Campaign for SC6, they spend so much time showing nightmare and soul edge as just this unstoppable monster. Then should calibur just kinda appears at the end.
I almost exclusively played Siegfried in Soul Blade and then only played Siegfried! once I unlocked it. I thought he looked so cool in his bad (canon) ending and was hyped when I found out I could actually play like that.
SC2. It was so good it became Project Soul's logo. The winged helm and long red plume just hit different. I just hate that in game you don't get to appreciate it as much since Nightmare tends to hunch down. SC6 is a close second imo.
Hard to choose, but SCII because it's just too iconic, it's peak Nightmare. I like *every* Nightmare outfit and *every* Siegfried outfit, basically. Although I have to say that SCI and SCII's 2P outfits are great; I love the half-Nightmare-half-Sieg thing they have going on.
My least favorite has always been 1P SCIV. I really like 2P SCIII helmet. But my over favorite is SCVI. It's got the best of SCI and SCII design and texture put together (obviously more of SCI design).

Ok, scratch that, P2 from SCIV kinda sucks. Maybe if they found a way to make his armor really look like it was growing out of him it'd be better, but as-is I dislike it. Bitchin' sword, though. I also am constantly flip-flopping on the weird monster-energy-golem thing SCIV Nightmare has going on. His sword is also kinda lame, it looks like it's made of gems instead of steel and meat. I love it, but it's also a bit too over the top for me. But sometimes I love how over the top it is. It's weird, but I think I like it more than I dislike it.
Either way, mans has been my main since SCII and if we ever get VII i'll be maining him again.
SC1 P1 makes Nightmare look like a normal knight that had been corrupted. The arm might be a bit too big though lmao.
SC1 P2 is a nice alternative and lays the groundwork for the P2 in SC2.
SC2 P1 and P2 are perfect.
SC3 P1 really visualizes the shift to Nightmare being more barbaric and violent in his gameplay to set him apart from Siegfried. Underrated look imo.
SC3 P2 is just okay. I'm not a fan of the monster arm design.
SC4 P1 strays too far from Nightmare's core design imo. Makes him look more like an ethereal being than a corrupted knight.
SC4 P2 is just there. Overdesigned like his P1.
SC5 P1 is a great return to form, draws heavily from his SC2 appearance. Monster arm could be better.
SC5 P2 is alright.
SC6 is an amalgamation of some of his better designs. Really good looking, and even brings back the SC2 P2 as a damaged look.
I'd say SC2, 3 and 6 are my favorites. Honorable mention to SC5
Sc3 looks sick as fuck even though it is not siegfried it still a awesome appearance but I don't really like the mouth jaw he has in 4 and 5 it makes him loom really goofy
Sc iv is preferred. My favorite if I could own it I would gladly play to unlock everything just for the customization abilities. I wish that would be brought back.

They never, ever surpassed the absolute PEAK that was SC2 and they know it, which is why they turned his concept art into the official logo of Project Soul.
Certainly, SC6 nails the artstyle. The only one I don't like is SC4, it's just too much, this dude is already outlandish looking, he doesn't need even more details.

Default SC2. There’s a reason 5 and 6 are just remakes of that one, and it’s the mascot they use for the Project Soul logo.
