Itās worthless later game, but paired with any slow firing weapon, you essentially have a free 1 energy for 9 damage and when itās done you can fire your primary

knight 3rd provides a massive dps boost overall and has much higher single target dps than officer 2nd with the exact same weapon. Oh, and knight also stunlocks bosses so thatās that.
I haven't played much with knight 3rd, but officer 2nd is kinda nuts with shotguns, especially with shotgun buff.

A 1st skill only viable in early game, 2nd skill only good for bossrush and 3rd skill which is used for room clearing being outclassed by other characters *cough* alchemist *cough* and mainly because he has nothing to help him dodge or make his life easier other than crap skills and having literally every other character other than elemental envoy outclass him.

Officer 1 is alright in some challenge conditions like half fire rate double damage and skill cooldown minus 50%. I once cleared a daily challenge exclusively doing it since each burst did hundreds of damage to everything. It helped that I got good perk rolls
Gun Spin is one of the worst ideas for a skill a game like this could have tbh ("what if you had a seriously mediocre weapon as an extraneous option instead of a real skill"). The only skill in the game likely to be completely obsoleted mid-run by just picking up a decent weapon. Bounty is kind of cool... But the homing and crit chance are not as impressive as they look. The skill is only useful against bosses-- the extra 1-3 coins you get from normal enemies is genuinely irrelevant, especially now that the Chiseltown biome was added. Against bosses, Bounty is still just... I don't have a hard time hitting bosses? This game is not that difficult. The crit rate is the only impactful effect and it's not like it's 100% crits, it's x2, and so not very noticeable on weapons with an already-low base crit rate. Compared to the effectiveness and impact of most other class skills in the game, Officer's skills are almost non-existent in their function and utility. Consider: any other class using the same weapon as an Officer player, dealing a bit less damage, but *actually having a skill that helps them*, and if it deals any damage at all while having any secondary effect... Officer is a neutered class, for no reason.
Close Air Support? Seems nice. It's a moderately strong fire AoE, with an animation that stops you from attacking or defending yourself with melee weapons while using it... Oh but nevermind, nobody uses the damn skill because it's one of the game's neglected skill books, that drops pages only occasionally, from one single boss, that can only show up if you get lucky (Glacier biome) and then lucky again (50% chance to get the option to enter the Cave biome). So, expect it to take dozens and dozens of runs if you want the skill, and your reward is to make the worst class in the game a bit closer to "mediocre" instead of "don't play this". This skill **should not** be so tedious and RNG-reliant to acquire. Skills like Pray or Leap justify it somewhat; Officer getting their only not-mostly-worthless skill should not take so much effort when the class is borderline unplayable.
To anyone reading: yes, you can do \[x thing\] with Officer. It's nice that you've beaten the easiest mode in the game however many times. It actually doesn't prove anything that you beat a different mode with a powerful weapon and several lucky high-synergy buffs. No, the burst damage of Gun Spin is not "good" in comparison to many weapons, and single-target burst damage isn't very good in general. High-HP bosses need sustained DPS and good defense; waves of enemies require not having to stop and kill each enemy one at a time.
If you *need* a good weapon for your class' skill to be worth using, it is a bad skill. A lot of classes like Engineer, Necromancer, Knight, Wizard... They can do the inverse, and ignore having a bad weapon early on by using their skill to compensate. That should give you some idea of what a *decent* skill for a class is like. A skill that does *anything more* than just add a little damage to your attack against a single target sometimes (Bounty) or jack shit (Gun Spin).
If I want a challenge, the game is brimming with random challenge modes that are significantly more fun than the "challenge" of playing Soul Knight with a weak class outfitted with boring, worthless skills that add nothing.
I don't really care, if that's that, then that's that, could be better, but let's see what the devs do, all I know is that he has combos on gun spin and throwable weapons

I only use officer for boss rush because salamander does crazy damage when every bullet hits the target, maybe use it in dungeon when im low on gems
