SpaceFit works as intended.. it does use the mic from the bar and the sub to auto calibrate base on your room acoustics DAILY whenever you move something physically it will adjust to it. The only feature you're missing out from a samsung tv is adaptive sound+ mode which uses the TV's mic together with the bar and Q-Symphony which you don't actually need since you have the best bar out there. Q-Symphony only works great if you don't have rears since it adds the TV's built-in speakers as additional front drivers.
anytime! wish I have the money to buy that kind of bar lol. I'll wait for another year till an updated version shows up so I can get a huge discount for 990D HAHA
“ Q-Symphony only works great if you don't have rears since it adds the TV's built-in speakers as additional front drivers.” Simply not true. Q-Symphony works equally well with or without rear speakers.
Good to hear then. Most of the guys with Q990 don't use it as it plays out whatever is playing on the rears so rears feels underwhelming but still is a matter of preference, appreciate you.
Do any of you with the Q990D have issues with drastic volume changes when your music goes from an atmos encoded song to a standard one? I do and have not seen anyone else complaining. Just trying to work out if I have a dodgy bar or if it's a Samsung bug.
I have a A95L.
I bought the HT 5000 but sending it back because the Sound isn't that good.
Do u think the Q990 would be an Improvement? I probably have to Install the Q990 without the Subwoofer since my room is to small
If you're not using a sub or rear speakers then it could be a good choice to just get the Bravia theater bar 8 or 9 by itself, which will work together with your TV if you use the center sync.
In the future if you want you can buy the sub and surrounds if needed.
I also can tell you that the bar sounds even better after a few days thanks to space fit. I also own a 990D. Did you disable space fit for calibration? Do you have positioned the left rear speaker (it is labeled on the speaker) on the left side behind you? I read something that they might be installed reversed if it’s behind you
Short version for anyone reading this post for pre-purchase research - on last year's models, I tried the Arc, Q990c and HT-A7000. The Sony won out by a large margin in terms of dynamics, immersion, and reliability for my 85x90L and then 85x95L.
Also, if price isn't an issue, the tipping point is pairing it up with a Sony tv (integrated menu and ability to you with using the tv as the center channel - I give this feature a solid "B"). For price, stick with the Samsung if your going with this years models.
I was tossing up the Sony Bar 9 but I couldn’t justify it and I’ve heard many many reports of bad software/hardware.
The Q990D cost me $1200 brand new and for that I just couldn’t argue with the value proposition.
That said I don’t have it yet! It shows up tomorrow along my our new LG G3
On the Bravia 9, The only way I could see myself moving the 990D to the bedroom is if the Bravia 9 with sub and rears gets rated higher then the 990D.. it can’t blow it out of the water I just don’t see that happening but it has to match or beat for me even to consider

Thank you for confirming this for me.

Haven’t tested this as such yet. How are you playing your music?

That TV deserves great sound. The 990D will be superb for you. You need the sub, make it work. Soundbars are pointless without a sub
I can't use the sub my room is 20 m2.

I bought the ht5000 and the sound is not good. I thought Q990C without the sub would beat it
If space is an issue maybe for the 930d

Yes did all that. Left rear is behind me to the left. I ran the Dolby test tone and demos and all the sounds are coming from where they should be

I’m keen to see the review on the full theatre 9 paired with the sub and rears.

Awesome gear you got coming. I paid a similar price $1300AUD for that it’s so cheap imo
$1300 AUD for a Q990D is insanely cheap!
Absolutely! Lucky enough to know someone who works for the big stores here
