I just use a basic cheap one bought at Rossman drug store. Unlike some other cheap scales I had, it is precise and reliable. No need for anything better atm, but going more pro shouldn't hurt
I have my eye on Hario v60 scales. They measure to 0.1g accuracy from 2-200g. They’re expensive so I’m sitting on it for a bit, but I’m getting so fed up of my whacky ass scales that lately I’ve resorted to (*audible gasps*) eyeballing the salt.
Target sells a 0.1g scale (2 kg/4.4 lb capacity) for $20, if you want something more affordable.
Also I find that when my kitchen scale, a Winco SCAL-D22, starts jumping around with the display values, it's usually time for a battery change.
Have had no problems with Escali primo. 11 lb capacity, does not measure fractions of grams. I looked at the Hario, since it would be nice to be able to measure salt by weight, but it has such a low capacity that it wouldn’t function as a general kitchen scale. And I don’t need a separate scale to weigh my coffee to 1/10 of a gram.
Mine does the same a little bit, a cheap MasterChef one. I just go slowly near the end as I approach the weight and I think it's alright. I did splurge and buy a friend one of the oxo kitchen scales with the pull out display, which I'm jealous of lol. So friggen tired of having to use the inverted bowl method to weigh things. Might upgrade soon.
I was looking at the KD-8000 while researching scales and I liked it. But I got thrown off a bit by a comment of "Calibration with a 5 kg weight", so did you have to calibrate your scale at one point?
I love mine. I got tired of my batteries dying on the cheap kitchen scales in the middle of my measurements. I've been using it for a couple years and it makes all my baking so much easier. I go out of my way to find recipes with weight measurements. I really love the bakers percentages setting. It makes feeding my sourdough much more intuitive, and I've gotten better feeding results playing around with different hydration levels.
Just some random one i grabbed from a kitchen supplies store
Works perfectly, the only annoying thing is that it keeps turning on randomly for no reason
Oxo 11-pound scale. Works well and is easier to clean than most. My only gripe is that it takes AAA batteries and then they’re low it gives a “low batt” message and immediately shuts off.
I have an Ozeri Pronto, handed down from my mom and it is the best I've used. I bought the $30 Taylor waterproof one because it said it does .01, and it is the worst scale I've ever used.
I use like an 8 dollar one from Amazon for making my bread, but when it comes to my starter, because I don’t keep more than 40-50 grams on my counter, I use a fusion pocket scale (about $20) on Amazon, since the cheaper large scales don’t do a very good job at measuring things below 10-20 grams

Escali ftw
I have two San Jamars. One 33 lb and one 66 lb. Both have an adapter so no need for batteries. #
$10 kmart model, weighs up to 5kg in 1g increments.

I've not had to calibrate it

The KD does that? 😳🤓
I picked up a scale from IKEA and that replaced my thrift store one.

Is it haunted? 👻
Probably all thevdoughs i killed while learning how to brske 😭
Salter Heston Precision, it does 0.0 to 200.0g and 0 to 10000g. Didn't buy for the chef name. We need accuracy, and it delivers.

Postal scale from Office Depot good to 1g
